If this is a legit side-by-side, it is clear that the S7 blows away the iphone 7 in video and rear camera pictures. I am willing to believe it is legit. Thanks for this video.
You rather believe a video someone at home created over CNET that shows the iphone has a better camera? LOL.

I was at an indoor amusement park. On one of the swing rides I just could not get an acceptably sharp action freeze. The Samsung can do it. I have camera apps on my iPhone that lets me alter shutter speed, but I just don't want to bother with it now, or I would've brought my big cameras lol. I'll go through my samples and show what I mean.

Nope, they want you to buy as many gadgets as they pump out :D In all seriousness, had I not used the Samsung I would've been perfectly content with the iPhone 7. A smartphone is jack of all trades for the great convenience, and I am willing to compromise on ultimate quality for that convenience. I wish to combine the GS7 camera with iPhone 7 everything else :D

I know there are services from Google and Microsoft, but it is just much easier with everything on iOS and macOS.
Do you think I'm doing something wrong when I can't get a focused indoor shot of a moving subject? They aren't moving too fast, just normal motion. In fact, one time the subject was my elderly in laws and all they were doing was talking. But with the SE, I could get them in focus and on the Samsungs I could not get such shots at all. I saw someone on Android Central had the same complaint but got no advice.

I wonder if it's just a matter of me being used to iPhones and missing some sort of technique since most Samsung users don't have this problem or don't report it.

Quick question, it's off topic but hope you don't mind it...my S7 runs really hot at random sometimes and often overheats in my pocket or in my hands in warm ambient temperatures such as outdoors in 70-80F weather. Does yours do that, too? I can't tell if I've got a lemon or not. It's going back to AT&T regardless when my replacement Note7 gets in. But I was just wondering since my Note 7 and my husband's S7 Edge run cool like our iPhones.

I was really hoping for the iphone 7 to be a huge camera upgrade. And it is really significant over what my SE can do. But I prefer the Samsung wide angle group selfie view and better audio quality, based on what I saw of that one video that was posted. I hope to see more comparisons since samples can vary.

This is a very illuminating thread. I really appreciate all the information everyone has presented. I hope it doesn't degenerate into accusations of fanboyism or bias if we continue to discuss the pros and cons of either phones as objectively as possible.

Even though I own an iPhone 6S Plus, I do agree that the Samsung S7, S7 Edge, and Note 7 (Which my son owns) have the camera advantage over the iPhone 7. The dual pixel focus feature is also on Canon cameras, and provides really fast focus.

The iPhone 6S Plus does provide more neutral colors, and is good enough under the right lighting situations, but I carry my mirrorless Lumix G7 with me as my main shooter.

Here is a real world comparison a I found on a tech channel (youtube).

All the YouTube reviews I saw say otherwise

All the unprofessional youtube videos done by biased android owners.

How about one from a legit source.

Yes. But if your dog is active or you want to freeze action shots, the Samsung will have an easier time because it focuses and fires off shots much more quickly. The GS7 snaps into focus very much like a DSLR, no hunting. The iPhone 7 still has to hunt back and forth before locking focus.
I took shots of my dog trotting around today and there was no blur or delay - like there was a slight delay between the time I pressed the button and the time the picture showed on the screen, but what did show on the screen was the action from before the perceived delay.

The iPhone 7 *loves* to choose a very low shutter speed. I was at a restaurant in relatively bright light and it chose a 1/10s shutter at ISO100, instead of bumping the ISO.

You know it's a good thing right?

In photography it's always the lower ISO the better. If it can shot 1/10 and be sharp (using OIS) then it's the way it should work.

I just love when people that have no clue tell other people how it is.

I'm confused. I went to that link and looked closely at all the photos and most of the time the Galaxy S7 photos looked at least slightly better than those of the IPhone 7 Plus and even compared favorably in zoom shots despite having only digital zoom. How does that prove your point? o_O

I'm not trolling you, I'm genuinely interested in the iPhone 7 myself. I'll already have a Note 7 so I was thinking of trading my 6SPlus in for an iPhone 7. Therefore, I want it to fare well against the S7 camera, but so far between Saf's video and that Cnet link I think the S7 has some advantages.

My main question remains which camera is rendering colors most true to real life. I suspect, based on my experience with Samsung cameras, it would be the iPhone 7, but I can't know until I shoot with it myself. That's not to say Samsung does a horrible job with colors. A lot of people don't like what they do, but their processing reminds me a lot of my Fujifilm camera I shot a lot of beautiful pics with in my 20's. My aunt and uncle gave that camera to me as a college graduation gift and it was only a tele-wide camera, not a true zoom. But I took the best photos of my life on that camera. Fujicolors were...well...magical. ;) It broke my heart to dispose of it recently but the plastics broke down and played havoc with my autoimmune condition.

I hope the iPhone 8 gets the camera of the Galaxy S7. The autofocus speed from the Galaxy S7 is incredible.

Everyone who has looked at those pictures have agreed that the iPhone was sharper, more detail, and natural color unlike the Samsung which looked dark in most and over saturated colors. I own the S7 Edge and 6s plus. I plan to take pictures with my 7 plus as well. But I won't deny when I see pictures like that which phone is better and it is clear the iPhone but not by much.

I look forward to your comparisons when you finish testing.

Here's another review from Business Insider comparing iPhone 7's camera to S7's. http://www.businessinsider.com/appl...y-s7-camera-comparison-2016-9/#and-another-14

My main interest now is finding out how the sound on videos compared since the S7 sound seemed so much richer in Saf's video. But one video isn't enough evidence to go on.

Because you remarked "I use few words when comparing cameras."
I should have used the words debate 'the best'. That's the premise.

Everyone is so fixated on comparing one to the other and debating it.

I used a 6s+ last launch day until February. Pictures were good.

I tried the S7. Pictures were great.

I bought the S7 in February and love the pictures.

Of course we are always gauging what we have to other products, in comparison, but it always ends up with personal attacks and intellectual supremacy wannabe here on the boards.

Samsung has always had a more sensitive MIC and this can be bad as well. It will distort more at high volumes but low it will pick up stuff better. When I went to a concert, the S7 was distorted but my iPhone was clear.
