I'll be anxious to compare my Galaxy S7 Edge to my iPhone 7 Plus when it arrives Monday. The S7 is better than the 6s Plus I was using before, but I would hardly call the 6s bad or significantly worse. I think it's clear the iPhone 7 improves upon the 6s quite a bit, and that's the important thing to me since I want to use iOS again, not Android.

I have no doubt they are both fantastic cameras and I would be happy using either of them. I don't need to make myself feel better by declaring a winner since there are so many things about each phone that I will like and dislike. One thing I really hate about using the camera on the S7 Edge is that's there's a lot of stuttering and performance issues, especially when shooting in 4k. The iPhone 6s plus is better at recording concerts and for video stabilization, so I expect those will continue to be strengths on the 7 plus. Also looking forward to the update for portraits.

Really can't go wrong with a newer iphone or galaxy camera. Other things would need to be the differentiator for me.

hardly a troll. Multiple comparisions are showing S7's camera to be better in low light. Just because it doesn't align with what you believe doesn't mean he is a troll.
By the same token, multiple comparisons also show S7 blown out hightlights, over-saturated colors, etc. So basically each camera is good at certain things and apple still has yet to unveil the updates with respect to the dual camera usage.

Sorry, Apple: The iPhone 7 camera is not better than Samsung's Galaxy S7

Also a good comparison between both phones. This is the best one yet and I agree 100%.

Thanks for the video.
Personally I find the design of the iPhone lackluster besides the note 7. And that screen bezzle is truly ugly. Also is it just me or does the iPhone screen look a bit oily compared to the amoled display on the Samsung?

Everyone who has looked at those pictures have agreed that the iPhone was sharper, more detail, and natural color unlike the Samsung which looked dark in most and over saturated colors. I own the S7 Edge and 6s plus. I plan to take pictures with my 7 plus as well. But I won't deny when I see pictures like that which phone is better and it is clear the iPhone but not by much.
I disagree. Like @GrumpyMom, I find the better pics to be from the Galaxy S7 from the link you posted.

That both have good cameras. Comparison is the thief of joy.....
This. You may prefer one to the other, but you're going to be able to take terrific photos either way. It's gotten to the point where the cameras on pretty much all of the modern flagship phones are so excellent that these image-by-image comparisons seem silly.

On the iPhone, that's what I'd have to do to get the best possible results. On the GS7, it is so fast that it's really not necessary. You press the shutter and the action is frozen where you intended. When I first got it, I constantly over-compensated, ends up taking the shot *earlier* than expected because it's so quick.

I know there's no convincing some of you here, but if you're at any of the stores that have a GS7, try it for yourself. I'm just speaking strictly to the speed, not even going to argue the picture quality any more.

This is exactly why I was hoping Apple will best the Samsung. When I take a pictures with an i-thing, that picture instantly shows up on my iPads and Macs. It is just so convenient. I had a hell of a time trying to import pictures taken on the Samsung to my iPad Pro using the Lightning to SD adapter.

As long as I can remember (back to the 1st gen iPhone, Samsung and many Android devices) took better pictures with ease and speed than the iPhone. I don't think this will ever change.

I am a firm believer that Samsung makes great hardware. Apple uses much of their hardware too in their own devices. For me, Apple knows better than anyone how to mesh hardware and software together. Samsung does not. I think overall much of Apple's hardware is less expensive, perhaps even cheaper to make than Samsung's.

Apple fosters building a relationship with it's products and customers. Samsung just wants to sell you something.

I totally get that some people are really annoyed, frustrated, and upset that the iPhone's camera is [arguably] inferior to Samsung's Galaxy 7 (G7). I consider the G7 and old device now. The Note 7 I was considering until I seen the specs.

I don't see the logic in spending all this money on a new device Note 7 (N7) when it's using "older" technology. The CPU is not even the most current available today. That simply makes no sense to me. If all four devices: iPhone 7, 7P, S7 and N7 were launched at the same time, I *may* consider Samsung or Android, but given that Samsung still chooses to put "old" tech into their latest phone, the N7, it forces me to look elsewhere. The recall of the N7 is another reason why I further dislike Samsung. If only Samsung used the Snapdragon 821 or equivalent Exnyos in their Note 7 I would have more respect for Samsung. Any way, that's my .5 cents on the matter.

I looked at every photo posted here and at every review linked and here is my verdict:
On some photos the iPhone looks better, on some the Galaxy looks better
On some the iPhone seems overexposed, on some the Galaxy seems overexposed
And if you believe, you can make good photos in low light with either of them, you´re an idiot (sorry), because a little less stinkier turd is still stinky!

Samsung manufactures their own modules and improved on them considerably once the S5 arrived in 2014.

Samsung is now beating Apple in four key areas.

Design
Display
Camera
Battery Life

Prior to 2015, Samsung was only winning in maybe one area which is debatable if you don't like the oversaturated, PenTile Super AMOLED displays. Bit too cartoony for some.

Over the last couple of years, Samsung has done a marvelous job with their flagship cameras and software optimization for battery life is stellar. Go on GSM Arena and many of their video playback are hitting 15 hours. Their S7 series has a 2K and their Note series since the 4. They consistently top the iPhone Plus models.

Design is also better. From the front, a matte black or jet black looks the same as any space gray iPhone 6 series. True that Samsung is only rehashing the design from the S6 and S6 edge+ from last year. But that's only from last year. Apple is guilty of recycling designs from 2012-2014.

Only areas where Apple beats Samsung is software, audio, and ecosystem. The lag on Samsungs can be horrendous. Their hardware is stellar and surpasses iPhones. Samsung is a better hardware company than Apple. While Apple is only better at software and creating an ecosystem for it.

Samsung is a true original equipment manufacturer. They can build phones completely in-house if they wanted. Apple can not. Depends on others to help them to do the dirty work. Guaranteed to have Samsung-made components inside your iPhone including whatever storage option you choose even if have a TSMC chip.

I love Apple as much as the rest of people here, but when I look at those photos, a majority of the time, I think the S7 took the better photo.

And while I am objective enough to admit that, I still have no use for an Android phone. I'm just too deep in the Apple ecosystem to even consider it. I love the fact that all of my products work together, seamlessly, and I have no intention of giving that up. I'm sure Apple wants it that way, and until their ecosystem is replaced with something better, by either themselves or another company, I'll be sticking around.

The 7 Plus camera a great. The G7 camera is a little bit better. Either one is going to take an amazing photo in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing and a good to great one in the average users.

Look sorry the 7 plus is nowhere near as good as the Samsung S7 series camera. Now we can talk about Samsung having over saturated pics that are not realistic but even taking all of that into account. The camera on the S7 is still better. I had the the S7 edge and it blows my iPhone 7 plus out of the water. The 7 + is better than my 6S + but still not scratching the surface of the S7/edge/note 7. I really need a good pocketable camera as I have a 4 month old son. I'm keeping the 7 plus as I need to be in the Apple ecosystem but I'll have to pick up the note 7 when Samsung fix their issues.

...and still samsung has ****** android on their phones.

The snapdragon 820 is the best available chipset at the moment. Nothing has shipped with the 821 so far. The 821 probably isn't ready and won't offer much of an upgrade anyway. Next year the chipsets will show marked improvement over the 820.

I like the Apple Camera, but I did like the S7 Galaxy that I had as well. S7, in my opinion, had a slightly better camera over the iPhone 6s or my new iPhone 7. I'm too old to be a fanboy for either one of them.

This is just way, waaaay too much beating each other over the head tech talk for my professional artist brain.

It's more than just off putting, it's a total waste of time and is very telling that most people who think otherwise, don't know jack s__t about *actual* photography, what really makes a great photograph and how much the gear does or does not matter in how the final photograph is realized.

Damn folks, some of this is just disgusting.

So you like the oversaturated look and not true colors. Of course people would like that it makes it pop. But people who have been into photography won't and know it's worse than the iPhone.

I honestly don't like the saturated colors on the Galaxy. I prefer them to be more natural and realistic, but I guess their photos are more appealing to the average user because the colors pop. The autofocus is excellent and far superior to the iPhone though.

Agreed. Anyone here who thinks Samsung is better needs to go to a photography class or get glasses.

Well that's the problem I'm having. I'm trying to take pictures of my son who keeps moving about so the pictures are often blurry because the it takes too long to focus. On my S7 edge I got much sharper pics because it could focus quicker.

I'm sure the iPhone 7 plus will be great outdoors but it's not indoors when you have a newborn on the move!
