iPad mini Why isn't the iPad mini sold out yet?

I agree, what a bad timing for the site to go belly up.

...or it was a coordinated c-o-n-s-p-i-r-a-c-y.

So you were trying to scalp, thinking the stock would run out and now you're panicking because it's a little more evident that stocks are holding.

I won't tell you it's immoral. But you did get what you deserved. :)

Not panicking. I can always cancel it...

I sincerely wished apple denied returns to all these kids purchasing to resell.

31 year old kid yes

because i bought an extra one for resale for christmas...

double thinking it now.

And please nobody tell me how it isn't moral blah blah blah...

Haha I hope the production issues are solved next month and there is a huge surplus for the holidays. Ya jackass.

There's nothing wrong with buying more than you need if you did want to sell one on for a profit. I can't see why anybody would think that is immoral? Its not like you are forcing people to buy it.

I saw this after I wrote my previous post. Why would you wish that on somebody? Seems very harsh over something so trivial.

Why would someone hope that supplies run short and people aren't able to buy something they want? Because they're greedy.

They can hope for one scenario and I can hope for the other. What do you care?

How did you make a little extra cash in college?

I'm curious because it sounded like a spiteful thing to say. I don't see why it is greedy either. We don't suggest local business go bust because one charges slightly more than the other. As consumers we have choice and if the Thread Starter is selling an additional iPad for £100 more than the retail price, then that is his business. I wouldn't buy it, but I wouldn't hope he lost money in the process. Its basic business and I doubt you'd have a problem if he bought the extra iPad and sold it for less than he paid. Someone will have the iPad so its not like the supply chain is being diminished.

Much like asking me why I care, why do you care if the guy wants to make a little profit on buying more than he needed? As I said, its trivial and not worth insulting somebody over.

Stay tunned for more of "When Scalping Goes Wrong" later tonight.

I was surprised but perhaps the market for minis is not as strong as the full size.

Here's my take however.

People complain when apple does not have enough inventory, i.e., the iPhone 5s, and now people are complaining that they do have enough inventory. Apple cannot win, they're damned if they do and damned if they don't

I filmed a few videos for Big Sausage Pizza.

I care because I think it's douchey to hope for price gouging scenarios.

Apple has done the opposite of hyping for this release. I have never seen an iOS device have as little hype as this at release. Not to mention that you can't just go to an apple store to pick one up you have to reserve. Which would slow down sales. In short apple are managing their stock. If they had played it like they normally do I'm pretty sure the would have sold out already with the stock they have.

There is something wrong, especially in this economy and time of year with the holidays approaching. Instead of helping, scalpers are hoping for limited quantities so they:

1- Can take advantage of others by increasing price by hundreds
2- Parents can't buy their children certain items for the holiday because scalpers wiped out inventory or are charging outrageous prices.

How do you tell your kid that you couldn't afford to buy a $700-$800 ipad mini? If your not a parent or have been in that situation yourself, you wouldn't understand...

Queue the holier-than-thou "bad parenting" rants in 3...2...1...

Other than oil companies, I'm not aware of many businesses in the habit of price gouging.

Are you serious? Every single electronic store price gouges? What happens when you search for something to buy? Different prices come up(some high some low) which one do you choose? Never mind I already know the answer....
You ever walk into best buy and buy a tv outright without somewhat negotiating a deal with them? Most electronic places do have huge markups on most things.

All I'm doing is the exact same thing. Superrrrr douchy give me a break ...

Fair enough I share the same sentiment for the opposite reasons.

I once bought a Superdry leather jacket for 80 quid in a shop and sold it for £145 on eBay. I'll probably burn in hell eventually for that immoral, greedy act.

If companies or touts are doing in in big numbers I see a problem. The OP is in college and I didn't get the impression he was doing this to the same degree.

I am a parent yes. I have a daughter.

Life isn't fair. Aside from supply, many kids won't get iPad minis for the holiday because parents can't afford $399 either. Some kids won't get much of anything. This happens every holiday with the most sought after items and some children won't get what every other kid in the country wants. Hopefully they will still have a nice holiday and won't be permanently scarred by this. I don't condone this practice but is just life and the way some people make a little extra money. As a collector of hard to find items, I can assure you that if supply is severely limited you won't be able to get the item even when it is offered at standard price - someone will beat you to it.
