This type of blind fanhood is sickening. People with this stance are the reason why :apple: can afford to pump out simple speed/storage bumps after 1.5 years, and still sell more phones than every other company.

You're giving the company a God complex, and following them like a religious extremist. Humans have the ability to ask questions, and create independent thought, dont abandon that.
It's hardly blind. He's enjoying the products and decisions so far from Apple. If they suddenly switch from computers and phones to toasters and vacuums, I'm sure he'd be none too pleased.

People who are "pissed" about the lack of one feature or another in a ****ing cell phone need to reevaluate life in general. If their biggest issue in life is Apple's decision not to provide one feature in a phone then I envy them.

You took the words right out of my mouth. If the next iPhone doesn't have a larger screen, sleeker design, or whatever the flavor of the month is, I think I'll muster up the courage to keep going with my meager iPhone 4.

And as someone else pointed out, I'm not convinced that Apple is all that obsessed with outdoing Android phone manufacturers. I believe that iCloud and its far reaching effects are far more important to them at this time than churning out beefed up specs.

People are so damn entitled these days. Expecting to receive a 4+" display and total redesign just because they want it.

Go ahead and hop ship to Android after Tuesday. No one here will miss you. Apple will still sell millions of phones and break records. And you will most likely regret your decision to rely on the bucket of crap that is Android.

Edit: Ha, I guess that came off angry, but from the opposite side. Whatever. Sick of the complaining.

Not sure why you're so angry at people answering the question on this thread. People are only pointing out why iPhone users looking to upgrade might be disappointed/angry over the potential lack of redesign from Apple's next iteration. A lot of that has to do with the competition (ie. Android based phones). If people want to "hop ship" to Android, that's their prerogative; likewise, if people want to stay with Apple, same thing. No need to get angry at either party, nor at people responding/answering this thread.

A serious question here.. What has Android brought to the show since it was first released? What innovations have Google brought out? I don't doubt there are some. Just curious.

Not sure what you mean by the question, but I'll just reply with a few things that Android has that iPhone users don't have or don't yet have that I think are its greatest advantages:

Unobtrusive notifications, free and reliable turn by turn voice-navigation, widgets, choice of different (and better) keyboard options (Swiftkey X for one, is phenomenal--it's near impossible to make a typo).

There's probably more. FOOTNOTE for the flamers: Relax, this doesn't necessarily mean Android is better than iPhone OS.

If any of you are familiar with Opie & Anthony, you'll appreciate this: Every time I read someone ranting and being ridiculous with some sort of "THE NEXT PHONE IS GONNA HAVE LTE OR ELSE IM GOING ANDROID!!!!1" I hear 'lil Jimmy Norton's character, Ted, screaming it the way he does lol.

If you were a real O&A fan, you'd know the character I'm playing on the message boards regarding the iP4S is "Angry Typing Guy" (of Opie fame).

Linger longer.

Well many more people are now considering leaving the IPhone for something else if it's not a redesign. Sometimes it gets a bit ridiculous when you have to wait a year to get a flash for a camera. The IPhone 4 was a big update but they can do more. I think some people want to see Apple do well and by not redesigning the phone it would feel like the potential was not met.

Look at some of the phones out now and coming up. They are incredible and I jut want Apple to do well and beat everyone else AGAIN!!

I bet 90% of the 1% of people who leave apple will be back within 3-4 months. People think that by spiting apple and leaving they're proving some sort of point. Just to go get a POS droid phone that ends up dissapointing them anyway. Features aren't the only thing that makes a phone. Droid phones do NOT have the aesthetics the iphone has. They're cluttered and never as easy to use. Go ahead and get a droid phone, you show apple your mad and see how much they care.

I said a year ago we'd prob only get an iphone 4s. It makes sense to do a refresh JUST like they did with the 3gs. An Iphone 5 is a BONUS. Stop expecting a company to produce what YOU want and think while also touting their products. Apple doesn't really have competition and whatever they release will have people camping on the sidewalk and overloading Fedex/Ups nationwide with pre orders.

So if in 2010 Apple had come out with an iPhone 4 that looked exactly like the 3GS/3G, but had improved specs, you would be fine with that?

If I never saw the 4 or had a chance to hold it to see what I missed?

Yeah, I honestly wouldn't care (especially considering at the time I liked the 3G design). What it looks like is the icing on the cake but it's not the most important part. How it works for me, how fast it is, how much I can store on it, how complicated a program it can run, how many programs it can run and is not limited by specs not being up to par, that's all far more important.

If they showed the 4 but then decided to use the 3G/3GS design? Honestly, remembering how I felt at the time, I probably would not have cared (I was one of the ones who at first didn't like the 4 when I first saw the leaked pictures. It grew on me especially after seeing it IRL, it looks a lot better IRL than in some photo. Now I prefer it to the 3G/3GS). And even now? While I might be disappointed I'd still be happy with it.

There better be an obviously new design with a bigger screen or I will be furious and some pretty senior people at Apple will have some questions to answer!

What on earth is the point in me spending hundreds of my British pounds on a phone that looks exactly the same as the old one? Who is going to notice as I stroll down the street talking to my broker that I have the 'new' iPhone if its got a faster processor and better graphics bladey blah if its looks just the same as the old model?!

Who will notice in restaurants or at the theatre or ballet?....

The new phone must be the much anticipated silver aluminum big screen or I'm going to make a big noise.

Even if the internals are the same people must see I have the latest design....

Must must must must........

I noticed a trend recently in the forums. A lot of people seem like they would be really pissed if there is no redesigned iPhone 5 announced at the media event. My question is why? A new iPhone is a new iPhone. I would understand if no new iPhone was announced AT ALL. But whats wrong with a 4S? I thought the iPhone 4 was great. The iPhone 4S is simply a better version of an already great phone. Seriously whats with some of these people saying they are going to go to Android or something if there is no iPhone 5? Relax!

because of the hype and false hopes generated by sites like macrumors.com

With the way technology advances so quickly, I just don't see Apple releasing ONLY a spec bumped iPhone 4. At the time of the 3GS there wasn't too much evolution in the smartphone world, but now there's Android phones and even BlackBerries with bigger screens and better build quality. I guess we'll see tomorrow. Delaying a new phone announcement for 4 months just to release basically the same phone again seems impossible to me...

Yeah but iCloud and iOS 5 works with the iPhone 4. It makes no business sense for Apple to not entice customers to upgrade hardware, which is their prime money maker.

I'm trying to remember the iPhone 4 presentation and compare it to a 4S or 5. Kinda limiting for the 4S...

iPhone 4
1. All new design - Glass, External Antenna, Thinner
2. Retina display
3. Gyroscope
4. A4 chip
5. 5mp Camera
6. Facetime

iPhone 4S
1. A5 chip
2. 8mp Camera
2. Voice assistant

iPhone 5
1. All new design
2. 4" display
3. NFC
4. A5 chip
5. 8mp Camera
6. Voice assistant
