You know, considering i don't have one right now...that makes me angry that an iphone 3g was wasted like that. The only time i would say an iphone is worthy of blending is if it the ibrick 2.0 and will remain the ibrick forever...Also if i didn't pay for it.

I agree...

...with everyone here that's said that he's an a$$hole. These publicity stunts are retarded. OMG! LET'S TAKE A DVD CASE! DOES IT BLEND? YES IT BLENDS!

I mean.. Give. Me. A. BREAK! Anything that's exerted to that much constant pressure and friction is going to get destroyed, if not severely damaged. Not everything is sturdy to all forms of damage (badly worded, but I'm sure you know what I mean).

I really don't get what he's trying to prove. I mean, I know he's trying to promote his company's blenders, but still. A. Waste. Of. Time. And. MONEY!

I also agree with the people that said "At least he didn't blend it in front of people like the Smash My [product]" kids did. I think he tries to make his videos humorous, but at the same time he's got alotta anti-fans, like myself.

Give it up Tom. You're dumb and you don't appreciate technology at all.

I just don't see the point...it's not even remotely funny or entertaining.

I agree 100%! Thank you! lol

Amen brother. Amen. lol ^_^

Get over yourself - no matter what ANYONE says - it really is just a damn phone.

Correction. It's the most advanced mobile platform on the market right now. It's more than just a phone. And no I'm not going to state what it obviously is marketed as.

To me, it's a computer away from my computer (as well as a great cell phone).

I'm one of the biggest iPhone fanboys you'll meet.

Be careful what you say. ;)

Who cares what they blended, the issue is why are they still using the same stupid advertising campaign!? If it'll blend a block of wood, a brick, and a tin can, then not much else is gonna stand up to it. They really should market the things to the people who are actually gonna buy them, i.e. people who want to use them for food, not destruction of property.

I have to say though, i would assume apple fanboys would be much more destroyed had a person bought an iphone 3g and smashed it first thing. The whole xbox 360, also during a time when i was in the process of getting one and was angry for not having it yet, was hilarious nonetheless, though angering. I would prefer that of blending it because at least i can watch the reaction of others in the process who are as pissed off as i am.

While I understand what you're saying, what I meant to get across with that post was that getting an iPhone 3G just to see if it'll "blend" is just plain stupid. Pretty much anything you put in a blender is going to "blend". It's pointless, and his stupid videos make no sense at all. He's got way too much money and he doesn't know what to do with it.

Also, should he have blended an iPhone 3G in front of all those people, who knows what sort of chaos would have broken out.

Well spoken. Most people in this thread are acting like he ate a baby.

Or blended one.

I don't see how you guys don't get it. Its called advertising, they do stuff to make people look, just sit and watch TV commercials in the evenings to see the wide range of things people do to get you to pay attention. As for wasting money, most commercials for big companies will cost a few hundred thousand to make, plus the airtime. They spent a few hundred on an iPhone, the last one had nearly 5 million hits on youtube alone, before you look at other sites, so is a MASSIVE marketing success, in fact I would say one of the most successful marketing campaigns around for its price.

As for being old, done before, waste of money etc, missing the point, we have all watched it and know the blender name, it gets people talking, its far from old and FAR from a waste of money. I guess you all have zero grasp on how advertising works.

QFT.

I'm wondering exactly how many macrumors members have entered this thread and gone, "Hey, I've never heard of this before" *typetype* *clickclick*.

Highly effective marketing that is ridiculous value for money.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5A345 Safari/525.20)

don't breath this! Yay!

Great Advertising

Wow, some of the people on this board are really stupid.

He did it because it's an advertisement for that particular brand of blender. Of course nobody is going to blend their own phone but I bet it blends ice pretty well if it can turn a phone to dust. That's the point. It's just like those commercials with the steak knife that cuts through a can.

Something that will really burn the morons out there that don't understand is that his iPhone will be a tax right off.

The fact is, he blends popular items because it makes money. He's not just throwing away the $$. Anyway, he's probably just a hired actor.

Edit:
{looks like marccarter already said basically the same thing}

Bloody imbecile!

I regret that Apple did not sue the underdeveloped vandal and his idiotic company almost a year ago... That's a brazen spit in Apple's face, publicity stunt or not!..

If a ten-year old does anything like that, he receives a good spanking from the parents (he would from he, certainly, and a very proper one!). When an underdeveloped 60 year old does it on youtube, idiots rejoice.

The advert was very successful if its got everyone talking about it ;)

By talking about it your just giving them more publicity.

But he purchased the product outright and can technically do as he pleases.

While I did not particularly like having the subject being an iPhone 3G, I did enjoy the slow motion part. It was fascinating to see how it disintegrated.

Advertising 101

I was going to eBay my old one but it might be more fun to blend it.

Idiotic!!! It really pisses me off to see stuff like this. Give the $200 to some poor person who doesn't have any food. But buying a new phone so that you can blend it on the Internet is LAME LAME LAME LAME LAME. LOSER!!!

See, that's the beauty of living in a free society. Individuals can choose how to spend their hard earned money. :)

It's more like $400+

I doubt blending it gets him out of his 2 year commitment.
