But still you gotta admit iPhone would be at a better place with Steve Jobs around. I don't think Apple's revenue is related to how amazingly the iPhone has evolved but rather to the lack of something fundamentally better in the market and Apple investing in a closed ecosystem.
Hmm, I don't think so. Remember the last thing Jobs was focused on. One handed phones and destroying Android with all money that Apple had. Apple would be a much smaller company if Jobs were still around.

I don't care about the cameras. The iPhone 5 and 6 camera fits my needs. It seems all iPhones bring is camera stuff lately. I ONLY upgraded to the 13 for the high refresh rate (finally).

A disappointment, like the 13?

The wife said she was almost to the point of asking for her 12 back. It just 'worked better' she said, and she couldn't see any difference that would make it worth it to keep the 13. What can Apple do to a manture product that already has all the features it could have. I'm sure in the bowels of Apple, that question is keeping some people up at night occasionally...

I have never owned an iPhone but that really applies to every smartphone sold, not just Apple. We are at the point of diminishing returns. There's only SO much you can do with a smartphone or tablet. We already have a glimpse this past year when Apple made a BIG deal about the newly released green iPhone Pro Max.

It's honestly the most trivial of updates.. like the iPhone 11, 12, 13 have been. Iphone X changed the game, blown away leap from the 8. The rest have been stagnat as heck, for what is essentially relatively small upgrades in camera and battery. Both things which I'm sure cost apple nearly nothing to implement.. we aren't buying the battery's are expensive thing are we.. like $2000aud worth lmao.. the software runs on an X so I don't get what is to be excited about. I guess having a different shape camera cut out doesn't really make me feel good about all the money I dropped yet again on virtually the same phone.

I need an iPhone flip. Stat.

TLDR : Yes, it will be disappointing

Maybe it should come with a price decrease, or at least keep the same price, consideration high inflation.

But I am really... sceptical about the pill and hole design of the Pro model, because it has padding on the top of the screen. Will it actually benefit users, on a screen real estate side of view ? I'm really not sure.

The mini is for people with small pockets. Literally and figuratively ?
Nah right size for the right tool. I always saw it as people get freakishly large iPhones because they can’t afford an iPhone and an iPad. ;)
There actually was a report or survey or poll I saw a while ago that actually showed a larger percentage of mini users also owned iPads vs the larger models. Can't seem to find it though...

Will most likely upgrade from my iPhone XS to the iPhone 14. Keen to avoid the stupid pill and hole, I prefer the smaller notch. Also happy to stick with Lightning for another 3-4 years.

I do. Hate them. Accept it on the iPhone, for now, wont buy a computer with a notch. So that blanket statement of yours is false. Try "most people", rather than "no one".
Naw, it's a personality thing. You see a notch because you think it takes away from the screen, but most people who use it see two extra tabs of screen that removes status icons from the main part of the display.

Be a positive person and see the world as giving you more not taking it away. There is no notch when there are tabs.

We've reached the pinnacle of technology and the iphone upgrades have been lackluster year over year, offering nothing but improved battery life and better cameras.

Yes, it will be a disappointment and I will skip the update if it’s as rumoured despite being on the upgrade plan. It’s the second time I skip a model since I started the upgrade program. I might leave the program altogether if apple continues on the policy of lacklustre upgrades.

I upgrade every year without fail, mostly because I’m on the apple upgrade program and any associated cost is worth it to me. I mostly appreciate having the latest camera as I want the very best picture and video quality possible to document my kids childhood.
What do you need with 48mp? To document every booger and acne breakout in super detail?

There aren't any major leaps and bounds companies can do with phones every year. Incremental updates will be the way of life going forward. Being on an upgrade plan at this point is a serious waste of money when you can just buy the phone outright then hold on to it for a 2 years or longer with no monthly bill. You will need to replace the battery though for $79 at some point in that tenure.

It’s doubtful the 14 will offer any reason to upgrade from 12 max. Adding more mp into little sensor camera is not an upgrade. The 12 max camera and it’s low light pics are more than enough for me.

It’s more that I’ll upgrade when old one breaks, or significantly slows down. As it is, it’s a hassle to upgrade needing new accessories.

The 15 might have usb c. Maybe then.

Also more could be done software end. Still can’t record phone calls.

I’ve got a 12 Pro Max w/512 GB storage. I’ll wait until the new phone has USB-C and a significant improvement in battery life and camera.

Wish they did a pro with the standard camera bump. The rumoured camera bump on the 14 pro looks totally ridiculous, like piles or something. It’s a dealbreaker for me. Shame the standard 14 won’t be getting any upgrades apart from the trivial things mentioned above. The lack of upgrades is looking like on par with 6 -> 6S or XR -> 11
