Disappointment to who?

My iPhone 13 Pro Max is less than a year old. How many iPhone users upgrade after just a year, or even two? For me it is typically three years between new models, so I'm more interested in the innovations that will be coming with the iPhone 15 and even iPhone 16!
I went from 5 to 6+, then waited all the way until the 10 XSMAXWHATEVER. Then got the 12 Pro Max. Didn't feel a need to go with the 13, not really feeling it with the 14. Maybe when the 15 comes out.

Although with this 12, I keep breaking the glass screen protector. So far, that's the worst, but if I should smash the glass one of these days, then I'll see how much to fix; if < $200, I'll just fix it.
Well, if I don’t feel like swapping the Sim card I do have a burner phone number on my bill. Remember the old days when you would carry a burner line so you can upgrade to the new iPhones every year 😃 how times have changed.
You seem to know a lot about sim cards and burner phones. I know, you're a spy! Agent double-oh-yay! 00Yay FTW!

Old saying: Lower your expectations to zero and you will never be disappointed!

If one was a fly in the big round office, you might land in a space where the road map of feature sets by year going forward are posted. Such a scenario is possible now that Apple makes their own designed chips and can plan feature sets. Once "Qualcom" is ditched for modems, Apple will control the whole deal for iPhones just like they are doing for the Macs.

The Mac Studio was a surprise with the power of the Apple designed super M1 chip. In many areas, that small box has more computational power then the existing MacPro.

Apple's "A" chips caught the crowd off guard and the "A" chip annual improvements keep it just ahead of the "others".

So Apple's top "new" iPhone will have a new more powerful (all the usual adjectives) chip to stay ahead of the others that are closing some of the gaps in performance.

My 11" iPad with the M1 and fast USB-C connector can download apps from the APP store at the full download rate of my internet feed as compared to the existing connector on iPhones seemingly glacial speeds downloading the same apps.

Apple knows they need USB-C speeds for the larger images that will be created with the improved cameras.

So in about four months the cat will be out of the bag and we will see the new iPhone models in their temporary glory. After all, next year there will be some more changes and this years model will be like last weeks newspaper...

Hahaha!

For all those giving advice to Apple….

Seems to me they’ve GOT THIS!

Did you see their last quarterly numbers?
Yes I have, and quite frankly, it looks like slowing growth to me, and slowing in all the bad ways that matter:
  • Sales growth slowing in each of the last 4 quarters (quarter over quarter) slowing from over 50% down to a meager 9%.
  • Both Sales AND Earnings growth slowing in each of the last 4 quarters compared to the year-ago quarter (earnings for example going from over 100% growth to that 9%)
  • Estimated earnings growth for the remainder of 2022 also slowing to 9%
  • Estimated earnings growth continuing to slow in 2023 continuing to slow toward 7%
  • I also see a rather high debt load in Apple's fundamentals. Debt, whether held by individuals or corporations, is very very bad. It distracts you from being successful and always comes with risk.
If Apple is doing so great, why is their earnings and sales growth falling? I'm not saying they're losing money, no. But why can't they keep growing, especially when they're not really fully penetrated into most if the market's spaces. And why is their debt so high? Apple should have zero debt! Really, what can't Apple afford?

The number of people here that posted about usb-c tells me that yes, the next iPhone will absolutely be a disappointment.

Because the bar is so low. The people that think usb-c is the difference between satisfaction or disappointment are the reason we have a wobbly iPhone with a huge notch. Because you’ll buy whatever they sell. To you, a sweeping success is an iPhone that switches to a different charging/data port? Wow. At least Apple can rest easy knowing the pressure is off.
The reason usb c is so important is because I have to bring a charger for one device. Meanwhile everything else, MBP, iPad, Steam Deck, etc, all charge with the same usb c charger.

And no one actually cares about the notch. It isn’t an issue on phones of Macs.

Sorry, but is this really that big of a deal?

USB C this year please. No need to wait another year for such (technically) easy change.. Imagine shooting 8k prores video which you want to download via lightning..

If there is a move to USB-C, one thing that is a bit of a downside is usb c hubs are still a bit pricey.
