Well I like my 4S, but the camera is poor. The 5S will have a better camera, but it's not going to be as good as the Z1s. I'll be quite happy to sacrifice the convenience of ecosystem compatibility in order to have a better product.

I've no real issue with the 4S camera, however that's probably because I have a couple DSLRs.

There's no larger screen

People need to get over the fact that the overall phone dimensions aren't going to change on the 'S' model (or the 'C' model!)

Here is something funnier newbie. I've been a fan of Apple products and have been in this forum since 2006, yeah before the iPhone existed, and you can add me to the group of people who are considering switching to Android. I still love the iOS, but need a larger sized phone, I do not have midget hands. Whenever they decide to make a 4.7 - 5 inch iPhone, I'll come back to it. In the meantime, I'll keep enjoying my other Apple products.

Lesson: Don't assume that people who just don't think like you or are critical of Apple are just paid by Samsung. Not everyone is a fanboy. People like you remind me of 13 year-old girls defending Justin Bieber. But this is worse, we're talking about a company!

Good post.

I want a bigger display on my iPhone. I was hoping that we'd finally see Apple take this step this time but obviously doesn't look like it's going to happen.

If the 5C is cheap enough off-contract and isn't too crippled hardware/software-wise, that'll be my new phone to tide me over to what will hopefully be a bigger iPhone 6. Otherwise I'll reluctantly take the Android plunge and see how it goes.

It's just really disappointing that Apple is forcing my hand like this.

It's a make or break for me. I'm not hating on the iPhone, it's fantastic. I'm just bored of the same thing for so many years and am not too impressed with iOS7, in fact, kind of turned off. I am really looking for much better battery life (considering how "light" iOS is and android phones can out-perform when it comes to battery life is sad) and a better camera. If apple meets these, I want to stay. Otherwise, I will still love my rMBP, Apple TV's, etc. but moving on in the phone department.

Plus I just really want a larger screen... I'm getting old ;)

A stupid thumb scanner and faster CPU I don't need isn't worthy of this silly dog and pony show. I don't pay money for phones since I have a big boy job. Our corp tech stack finally supports Android after our workforce begged and pleaded to rid ourselves of these toys. My kid still loves his iPhone but I'm so ready to throw this boring iPhone 5 in the trash.

I still love the form factor of my iPad and LOVE my Mac Pro and Mac air but this iPhone is old news.

Who's the 13 year old girl getting upset at being called out for your corruption? Very juvenile and defensive post, you blew yor cover with it.

Ever used an Android phone? It back to the dark ages...reminds me of when Ubuntu used to ask "please select your x-server". Fiddly and user unfriendly.

So what are you hanging around here for?

I mentioned using version 1.5 which was a bad experience. 4.2 is far and away superior to 1.5 and is certainly good enough to compete with iOS. Again, if Apple doesn't offer the hardware people want there is no reason not to look to what other manufactures offer as the OS's are more than adequate to work for the average user. Apple understands this.

The iPhone 5 is already the best phone on the market, even above the One and GS4... So, the 5s will be the only phone to beat the 5... ;)

I really don't mind if people like the iphone, but to proclaim that the 5 is the "best phone on the market" is quite a bit of a stretch to me. You'd have to back that up with some really tough evidence.

Keep drinking the kool-aid!

almost 30% on the poll is considering a switch. At an apple-lovers forum, that's pretty telling to me.

There will be four main groups of consumers out there.

1. The users who have the 4 or 4S will upgrade to the 5S.

2. The users who have the 5 and will upgrade to the 5S.

3. The users who have the 5 and won't upgrade to the 5S and will wait for the iPhone 6.

4. The users who will be fed up with the small screen and move onto a larger smartphone screen.

Then there is everyone else.

No 4" phone and no Android/WP phone (regardless of screen size) deserves $650 price, which is what you're REALLY paying tregardless if you buy it on contract or off, so I'll probably just get myself another 5 under 400 bucks from Craigslist when I give mine to my dad. Or I might get the 5C if it's cheap and improved over 5.

The only way Apple gets my money for a premium phone is with a bigger screen.

Your at have been really hurting when the pre-Apple WP's were going for this amount and they had a 2.2" screen and they sucked.

Oh wait, you're probably a more recent smartphone adopter with big opinions.

Tech gets cheaper and/or better with time. Back when 2.2" smartphones were the norm, You paid $2-3K for a Mac that's hundreds of times slower than a $599 mac mini today. In 2013, no 4" phone is worth $650 to me. Neither are Android phones.

My first instinct is to not upgrade, but the trade-in value for my iPhone 5 is worth $410 to Nextworth.com and $400 to Apple. So at most I pay tax. May have to consider the upgrade.

BTW Gazelle only offers $350. For a 64GB? Get real.

I wish a notification light was at the same spot as the finger print sensor.

Why, in the world, doesn't Apple add a simple notification light to the iphone?? If it will offend some purists' delicate sensibilities, then add a menu option to suppress it, but for the rest of us, what does Apple have against a small, unobtrusive light to let us know when we missed a call or text?

It's just another way apple wants to be "different." I would say stubborn.
