I dont get it. I currently have 200GB of iCloud storage. What if I get the cheapest Apple One plan with 50gb of storage? Do I still have 200GB and pay 15$?

Good question. Right now, I pay a very affordable 99 cents (monthly) for the 50GB iCloud plan. Why the hell would the cheapest Apple One Plan (14.99) provide only 50 crappy GBs? What a stupid tier.

Let me make sure I understand this correctly. If I’m currently paying for 2TB of iCloud storage, and I subscribe to the Apple One Premier package my current storage plan will cancel and I will continue to get 2TB of iCloud storage in addition to all the services?

You keep your existing 2 tb of cloud storage and get another 2 tb from Apple one, for a total of 4 tb. You will then need to go into your iCloud settings and manually cancel your original 2tb storage plan.

It does not auto cancel on its own.

Good news. Actually, better than good news: if you have an annual Apple Music subscriptio and buy an Apple One subscription, Apple will refund you your subscription*. No, not prorated — all of it.

I started my one year subscription in April. It’s now November. I’ve used 6 months. They refunded it all.

*at least they did for me. Your case may be different but it seems like their policy is to just refund the annual subscription price, rather than prorate it.

Are you sure?

I had iCloud storage and then signed up for AppleOne.

When I go into iCloud storage now, it only shows my AppleOne subscription as well as the options to add additional storage to the 2TB provided.

I have two times of 50gb iCloud storage. One from my original subscription, another from apple one. For me at least, they are stacking.

Okay spoke to Apple because the first month is a free trial it comes up as 4TB then after the month is over you go back to 2TB which is your Apple one subscription

If the iCloud storage included in Apple One is equal to your current plan
During the free trial, you keep both your current iCloud storage plan and the iCloud storage in Apple One. Once the trial is finished, your current iCloud storage plan is canceled. Your total iCloud storage will be the amount included in your Apple One subscription.

I was able to get it to work. You have to log in to your iPhone with iCloud account that you use for purchases (not the iCloud account that you use for email and iCloud storage) and purchase Apple One with 2 tb storage. Then you go to iCloud settings and click on manage storage. This will give you the option to add 2 TB additional storage. Once you have the 4 TB storage on your account, you go to family sharing and share your iCloud storage with your other iCloud account. You can then log in to your iPhone with your other iCloud account and it will have the 4 TB storage.

Hi rclmac,

A bit tricky because you need to switch between the 2 accounts (no other choice...), but it works !

I was looking for a solution since yesterday.

Thanks a lot !!

What!?! 😳😳😳
Are you Premiere subscriber?

Now I only need to know how different ID for iTunes and iCloud works and I’ll jump.

I feel like its pretty clear. They're using Music as the primary anchor, and then storage as the secondary one. For any of these tiers, you'd have to be at a minimum someone who's using music and storage, otherwise there doesn't seem to be much point in them.

And even then, for individual, music & 50GB is $11/month. Unless you really want TV+ (which is still free anyway right now) and/or Arcade, why bother.

Like others have said, if it’s not for you because of those reasons, then just stay with the one or two services.

I already had Apple Music, iCloud storage Arcade and Apple TV and had no plans to change that, so it made sense to just get the top level for pricing alone (and I hate getting charged at different times if the month for all those). I really want Apple News as I’ve clicked on enough stories that were on the paid tier and am also using the widget more (stacked with my interests).

The Fitness part intrigues me as well, especially with Covid going on.

All of that is just bonus! This is a great idea not only for people like me, but it will certainly draw people in to other services once they are either forced to try them since they are paying for them anyway or simply because it won’t cost much more at the end of the day to try them.

Read the article on how Apple is now the 4th largest phone provider in the world and you’ll also see why they are doing this.

LOL, my reply was to the person I was quoting, and trying to rationalize why someone would go for Individual.

Myself, I’m exactly in your situation - already paying for family Music, 2TB, Arcade and TV+ (with no plan to change). And honestly just the same with News+. So often I hit a story but I didn’t have access to, but couldn’t bring myself to pay $10/month for it on its own.

For me its a no brainer - in CAD I’m paying Music (15), 2TB ($13), Arcade (6) for a total of $34 (the same price as Premier). I’ll be paying the same price, but get TV+, News+ and Fitness+ all as bonuses. And it’ll be nice to have a single payment each month.

This is awesome. 2TB sharable, with 4TB total for myself (unless shared of course). Definitely have no idea what I’d use it for but a nice option for some!

second thought, it would be amazing if I could point Time Machine on my Mac to my iCloud Drive if I have the 4TB. iPhone and Mac automatically backed up, without the fear of my local HDD failing and losing my backups. Hmm...
This! I wish Apple would incorporate Time Machine backup to iCloud. I know there are different cloud options for backup, but to have it be seamless with the OS, and be able to restore to a new machine straight from the cloud during initial setup? That would be the win.

I'm currently paying $18 for Apple Music Family and 200GB storage, so for another dollar, I'd get TV+ and Arcade; I'll take that. Since my free TV+ was extended until February, and I get a 3 month trial of Arcade for buying a new phone, I can wait until those expire and save a few more bucks.

None of these plans are worth it for me. All I have now is Apple Music and 2TB iCloud storage, and that's all I need. None of these plans make sense for most people cost wise.
So just because none of the plans are worth it for you, that means they're not worth it for anyone!

I signed up to the Premier Plan for £30 per month, I'm the only one that uses it and I think it's a great deal!
I was currently paying monthly, £10 for Music, £5 for Arcade, £7 for iCloud and £10 for News so now I'm paying £2 less and I'll get TV and Fitness too.

I'm not bothered that I have the free trial of Apple TV+ until Feb as it will still basically be free so I'm not losing out on anything.

50gb is a joke for paid storage in this day and age. 50gb should be free, then pay for 250gb, 500gb and then 2tb for the same as current prices.
A year (or more) of increased iCloud storage would be a way more relevant perk when buying an iPhone than the year of Apple TV+ they give you now.

And here I am with 5GB of iCloud storage which I have used only 464KB, I never backup anything. And whenever I get a new iPhone I always create a new iCloud account. Its just me, I wanna start fresh everytime.

I have nothing worth backuping, zero contacts, no important documents or anything. Zero photos.

I have 64GB version of iPhone 11 Pro Max and I have 47,9GB of free space left. I have 5 apps on my phone.
