I will stay on 4.3.3 neil ios5 is jailbroken then I will get an iphone5 or whatever it is going to be called

With iOS 5, will you still jailbreak your iPhone?

I JB just so i don't have to pay for apps, so yeah, i'll JB my IOS 5 phone..

Ive restored my phone to stock to bring it in for replacement, & thats when I realised I simply cannot use the phone without the following.

- Attachment= for mailto
- Bitesms
- Color keyboard
- Dimmer
- Dreamboard
- Fastsnap
- Folderenhanced
- iFile
- iShshit
- Landscape lock rotation
- Lockscreen clock hide
- Mark read
- Mywi
- Passcode lock preventer
- Safari download manager
- Sbsettings
- Sbswitcher
- Springflash sbsetting
- Syntones

Apple is doing a good job by adding Notification Center, OTA Sync / Update, Volume button for Camera / Lockscreen notifications / Camera button (wish theyd add flash button too for those times I need a flash light quickly)

Though its never the big things that I jailbreak my device for. Those have become second nature.

Its the constant ability to add small unimportant tweaks that when combined together, create very convenient and impressive functionality.

iOS5 is an amazing improvement, but this gives me more of a reason to jailbreak. I cant wait to see what amazing things the community makes of all these addons in iOS5.

Notification Center is one large example.

i will be jailbreaking as well. bite is supposed to have imessage integration, im sure the bite team will make an awesome app!

So this would happen

1-I buy FIFA11

2-I jailbreak

3-FIFA11 won't update since Apple sees that my device is jailbroken'ed?
It doesn't affect app updates. In iOS 5 you no longer have to restore to update iOS (unless you've jailbroken it). Apple checks to see if the file system has changed (jailbreaking creates new links, etc) and if it has then they disable OTA updates for the OS.

How good is UISettings compared to SBSettings?
It's a lot more limited in that it only has the toggles it comes with. So far there isn't a way add toggles. Otherwise, I really love how it's integrated into the Notification Center. There is another option called BBSettings (YT link) but I find it overkill and it takes up way too much room.

Also, do you recommend iFile?
Totally. It's easily the best file manager out there. I haven't paid for it so what I can do is limited but I mostly don't need search or the other paid for features. If I do, I just ssh into it from my Mac.

Between iFile and MobileTerminal I've got the Finder and Terminal on my phone and feel right at home.

I was also wondering, does anybody think the Nuance voice control be limited specifically for the iPhone 5?
I wouldn't doubt it. They've withheld features that older phones are capable of just to make the new one more enticing.

Does it have iOS Notification compatibility too?

im not too sure at this point. i believe martin was going to release a beta version of it soon. i hope it integrates well with iOS which im sure it will. i definitely trust the guys at bite! :)

Once you have a true widescreen 4.3" which is a true 16:9, there's no substitute. It's a really great feature that can't be beat. For movies YouTube and Video's it's awesome.

i owned a droid x at one point and i promise the large screen is not all its cracked up to be. sure its nice at times but for the most part its more of a pain than anything. i'd rather have a crisp 3.5" retina display than a 4.3" screen that not only takes up more room in my pocket but doesnt look quite as nice as my retina display

...What I wanted, for a very long time was to make an empty home screen, i.e no apps. I want to open my iPhone to a gorgeous wallpaper, admiring retina display. And then i'd slide my finger to the left for the apps. I like to keep my desktop clean, and it's the same for my Mac as well.

That's the easter egg 2ndary function of the lock screen. ;)

In all honesty, the lockscreen doesn't do justice to the retina display, since the "slide to unlock" and the Time and date cover almost half the screen together. And with iOS 5 and lockscreen notifications, it'll be worse.

I probably will, just for sbsettings and mywi.

I honestly feel like sbsettings should be standard by this point. I know that Apple will one day adopt it and they are just pacing themselves as to not run out of ideas but, come on. It should of been there from the beginning. It's very annoying to have to go into settings to change my wifi and sound settings every time my environment changes throughout the day.

As for mywi, the only reason I need it is for the very occasional tether to my macbook or ipad. I have unlimited data and I don't want to give it up to get a "legitimate" tethering plan. I tether to get schoolwork done when I'm at work or on the go. Even when I tether I am under 2.5GB/month. I have thought a lot about just getting a tethering plan because I honestly do not like jailbreaking (I feel like you loose some stability). But I know the 4G/LTE day is coming and *if* the grandfathered unlimited people are not effected by that then I want to have my unlimited with 4G/LTE. I am pretty sure ATT will find a way to knock us off the unlimited plans by then, but if by chance they don't then I don't want to take the chance of giving it up.

I have not used iOS 5 at all so I'm really looking forward to it. Perhaps I'll change my stance after I really get my hands on it, but it looks like the notification center is the only real big change at this point. I'm going to reserve judgement until I see it though.

iOS 5 has addressed the majority of things I used to jailbreak for, whenever possible.
The only thing I'll miss now, is SBSettings. I can live without it(been stock for two months now), so I'll only jailbreak for it, if it's 1: untethered and 2: simple to do.

I've jailbroken my phone numerous times since iOS 3 and ... i just don't like it. I'm not saying that it's bad, but it takes a lot of time and i can't figure it out. I'm just going to keep my backups free of any JB residue from now on.

I know down the road, I'll probably end up jailbreaking it again (probably after a year or 2, but that's a different story)

But no plans to JB right when I get it.
