This.
It’s always comical when somebody tries to complain a “botched” release and they don’t have their facts accurate.

Like when they point to the fact the watch was pushed several weeks after the iPhone, but forgetting the iPhone 12 Pro Max last year also got pushed back three weeks after the regular Pro launch. It happens.

I wouldn't say it's a "big plan" either.... All I'm saying is, it's a long-standing tradition with Apple to do these new product launches with a whole "pre ordering" system in place, and often with some fanfare and marketing just before it goes live. They've always counted on an initial surge of sales of whatever the latest thing is, including prepping local retail Apple stores to encourage and accommodate long lines of people waiting to buy it on launch day.

But the lack of any info posted less than a day before pre-orders are accepted? That's unprecedented for them, and it sure feels like the company must have decided these products "sell themselves" to the early adopters. Hence, they had more pressing things to do than get details published about what customers will be purchasing with these orders.

I can see that. And maybe it could be. But based on how meticulous Apple has always been about these things, that is a fairly dramatic shift. Like 0 to 100. Maybe. No matter what it is, like you said, it is unprecedented and strange!

Also though, unless Apple does another complete off-the-wall move, wouldn't the specs go live with the ordering process? So theoretically then customers WOULD have access to the details before they purchase, correct?

I don't use AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint or US Cellular....

so... if I get the Apple Watch with cellular, is it possible to get data service on it?(and how much is it per month?

Very well-written article that hits the nail right on the head!

The lack of information and especially the lack of configurations and pricing has been very frustrating. I will be working when orders go live and without the ability to compare models and plan ahead of time, I’m pretty certain that I’m just going to skip this cycle and not order one. Apple is literally losing business with this kind of approach.

So if you can't know information BEFORE you need to order...and then when it comes time to order the information is available from that point until the product is no longer sold....you are skipping the product entirely? I think I understood what you said. Interesting perspective.

This is the weirdest launch in a long time. They're basically telling us "order our new product and you'll discover it when it arrives to your home".

Why wouldn't you just read about the product when the specs are released on Friday? Why are you correlating the lack of data before the product goes on sale to some perceived lack of data once the product goes on sale?

How am I going to pre-order one if I don't even know which model I want to pre-order?

Determine the product you want when they go on sale on Friday. Why are you correlating the lack of data before the product goes on sale to some perceived lack of data once the product goes on sale?

All of this has convinced me that they were ready to ship an entirely redesigned watch, but at the last minute changed course due to some technical difficulties. Definitely not the typical amount of Apple polish to a new product launch.
Except they didn’t actually have to release it now.

the company continues to withhold basic pricing information from the public about the watch.
"Withhold"?!
Wow, that sounds ominous! I wasnt aware that Apple owed you advance pricing for products that aren't available for purchase yet!

Some customers enjoy looking at the specific technical specifications before they purchase a product, and those customers are sadly out of luck for the Apple Watch Series 7 at the time.
But when the product is for sale, they will be able to configure at will. So they can still configure before they buy. How is that "out of luck"?

I must have added a more expensive band last year, because I paid $50 more Than the same size will be this year.

Because I don’t have time after they go on sale. The time for me to decide is now, when I can sit and objectively determine what is right for me. But, Apple is not giving me that option, so yes, I will pass on buying their product. I leave in 5 hours for a very long project that requires all of my attention.

I hope they’re giving like $300+ for the Series 6 Titanium lol, but I doubt it. Will probably have to sell it privately.

And to anyone saying it’s normal for there to be no info about the S7 on their site until it goes on sale is WRONG. This is very weird.

Well - it is a "fashion accessory" of sorts -- that is seen on your wrist and for many people how it looks with your outfit is important.
I look down at mine and I BARELY see it. I really wonder about the poster’s state of mind if this is what bothers him so much.

I guess - I hear ya' -- seems like a bit much..

I think the issue is more one of others seeing the red ring -- more so than the watch wearer themselves..

I completely agree. With limited quantities in the first place, there will be enough buyers. I’m quite impressed with the display. I’m getting one.

Yah - there will be limited supply this time. They probably did have some production delay issues of some sort.

It's could be a good experiment for Apple to find out how many Apple Fans like us will place orders no matter what the specs and no matter what the price. I'm just guessing.
