This lack of information makes no sense at all...it would be nice to have an order "ready" to go at launch, instead of going on and spending all that time researching. I guess they want their servers to fail.

Yes this shroud of secrecy is so bewildering. Not even knowing what I have to pay and for what features totally turns me into a helpless buyer. This may however slow down the buying process or the rush to buy and give Apple more time to produce in sufficient volume to meet eventual demand.
You are a helpless buyer because you have no choice but to purchase before any of this information becomes available, right? There’s a gun pointed at your head, yes?

Nevertheless, lots of folks will surely be ordering one, especially those with watches that are 2 or 3 generations old.

Apple's website will also naturally have a more complete description of the Watch 7 tomorrow, so anyone who really wants to study the differences will have the ability to do that before ordering.

I really don't see this as such a big problem or issue. Don't order one until you know enough about it to be sure it is what you want or need!
Of course you don’t.

I was shocked this info was not available the day of the announcement last month. The fact that it’s still not available (less than 24 hours before launch) is absolutely insane.

Why did they not just withhold the announcement until the October event ?

I'm not sure there is an October event. Going M1 to M1X is probably not going to be a big jump. I wouldn't be surprised if other products appear tomorrow, non watch related.

I have a 4, and while it’s having issues this isn’t a compelling enough update. Sounds like a 6 with a slightly bigger screen and faster charging.

I also have a 4. I'm getting the Series 7, for the fact it is a big update. Battery life, larger OLED always on display, new and better health features. Is it a design change, no. 2-3 series is a good life cycle for the Apple Watch.

I don’t like the idea of being awake to order an Apple product when I’d otherwise be asleep anyway. I don’t think I‘ll bother this time- I’ll just try to order for store collection later on when the full details are out

Jon Prosser has leaked the pricing for all models. Only question that remains is whether we can mix and match bands via Apple Watch studio

I'm sure you eill be able to. But for me personally, since I already have a watch band I want to use, I can pick the cheapest default band and check out quickly. Time is of the essense. :)

The only reason for this level of secrecy is uncertainty in the supply chain and being able to get something out on time (or at all).

Very well-written article that hits the nail right on the head!

The lack of information and especially the lack of configurations and pricing has been very frustrating. I will be working when orders go live and without the ability to compare models and plan ahead of time, I’m pretty certain that I’m just going to skip this cycle and not order one. Apple is literally losing business with this kind of approach.

It’s gonna be a mammoth upgrade for me coming from a launch Series 3 with a smashed screen. From Series 6 not so much, but the not needing to upgrade each year applies even more to the Watch than the iPhone

I doubt its any kind of conspiracy. If uncertain, you can still backorder. It won't affect Apple too much.

There is something here that could affect sales and they decided to hide it before ordering, or they just really became very lazy
