It may be that apple is having supply issues and is intentionally keeping the watch low key. This company is too big and too strategic to have just forgotten to do these things.

Also for me - no upgrade this year (first time ever).
Wait for the 8 :)

That shouldn’t be the reason to keep the Watch on the low. Apple has been working on this watch for a long time. It isn’t their first rodeo.

The trade in value of my stainless series 5 is enough to make me not upgrade for at least a couple more years.

As a fellow SS Series 5 owner, I don’t personally see much reason to upgrade anyway. Of all the upgrades, faster charging is the one I’d appreciate the most, but otherwise…🤷‍♂️

Suits me really, I’m out of the habit of frequent upgrades anyway. Phones are easily good enough for 3+ years now, appears the Watch is going a similar path.

I was/am planning to preorder but since I’m coming from a 4 and haven’t paid a lot of attention to the 6 I really could use some more information about what the best option for me to buy would be. Normally it would be a given that the company you’re buying from provide that before offering it for sale. They seem pretty arrogant that Apple clearly thinks people will buy it anyway. It’s disrespectful to customers and, if it becomes a pattern, will be a negative inflection point for the company downward (especially when you consider declining software quality, less innovation year-over-year, etc). It feels like they need new leadership and fresh perspectives.

It's not "arrogant." They think you are capable of looking at information and making a decision. It would be "arrogant" for apple to assume everyone is going to buy the minute the pre-orders become available. That is clearly not their assumption, otherwise they would have already posted the information.

To add to the preorder confusion, Apple announced a $100 rebate on the cellular models if you activate with certain carriers. But there is no details on how you get the rebate. And, the wording indicates that it only applies if you purchase it directly from Apple, and not a reseller. I tried calling Apple yesterday to see if I could get more details and was told they did not have any information available on the Series 7 watch.

All will be revealed tomorrow. There is a lot of confusion but Apple will sort everything out hopefully.

This has to be one of the weirdest, if not THE weirdest, product launch in Apple's history.
Yes this shroud of secrecy is so bewildering. Not even knowing what I have to pay and for what features totally turns me into a helpless buyer. This may however slow down the buying process or the rush to buy and give Apple more time to produce in sufficient volume to meet eventual demand.

Agreed. Its totally arrogant and disrespectful. To an extent they're right, enthusiasts will snap this up and buy all the initial allocation regardless, but that's not fair on those who may want to take some time to weigh up all options and pick the config that works for them. There is no excuse for Apple treating the launch of their most personal and customisable product of their entire line up in this manner.

I think people grossly overestimate how many AW consumers actually give a hoot about a tech spec sheet. This:

is all most people want to know. Look, I'm a techie just like many of you, but let's be realistic.

I agree that the lack of full pricing info is odd, though.
True, but normal people don’t know anything about preorders of an Apple Watch. Clearly, preorders are for Apple fans and for people who are interested in tech

It's a test of loyalty for the herd..
How many orders can they get while disclosing as little information as possible?

:p :D

I see shiny, I want one :)

Apple's favorite kind of customer! :) ;)

The lack of advanced info on the 7 series really does suggest to me that something happened with a plan A version, forcing them to quickly shift to plan B, which clearly wasn’t worked on enough prior to have all the marketing assets in place, let alone costing. Not that this matters, because we’re going to get whatever Apple decides. It’s just that if the delays were just related to chip shortage, that wouldn’t have had ANY impact on Apple’s ability to create more marketing and sales assets and have them ready on announcement day.

Due to the nature of the technology it contains, publicizing the specifics of the  Watch Series 7 prior to launch day would constitute a threat to national security. This is the classified agreement made between Apple and the Pentagon. Enhanced security measures are still being put in place to avoid the illegal export of what the Dept of Defense is classifying as munitions.

I'll assume that the price for this one is going to be starting at the same $399 that the Series 6 was. That being said, I anticipated seeing a price for this when the pre-order date was announced.

Strange.
