To add to the preorder confusion, Apple announced a $100 rebate on the cellular models if you activate with certain carriers. But there is no details on how you get the rebate. And, the wording indicates that it only applies if you purchase it directly from Apple, and not a reseller. I tried calling Apple yesterday to see if I could get more details and was told they did not have any information available on the Series 7 watch.
If it's anything like the get $200 promotion when buying an iPad it'll be a major PITA to get. It took me 5 phone calls and a visit to a corporate store to get my stupid $200 verizon e-gift card for purchasing the M1 iPad Pro. Stupid Verizon didn't know what I was talking about cause the promo didn't appear on their internal system so it couldn't be valid. I read verbatim to them what it said off Apple's website and they said it's an apple promotion and they couldn't help me. Man it was so annoying.

if these companies are going to do partner promotions like this don't you think they would you know life freaking collaborate on it and know what it is that they're offering.

Sorry rant over lol.

Why? Is it that important to let people know you have an LTE watch?

Why does there need to be a clear way to identify cellular models just by looking at the watch on someone's wrist?
There are a few reasons.
1. Yes, people want a way to flash their ‘higher tier‘ watch.
2. Apple makes more money with cellular and they want people to see and or talk about it.
3. It helps with troubleshooting to know what watch it is without having to look up the serial number.

I’m not sure it does. However, in my case it helps me to identify which of my two matching series 5’s I pick up when I go running without my phone. I’m not sure that was the original intention for the red circle though…. :)

If apple wants people to show it off they would changed it by now. This sounds like YOU want to show it off. It’s a watch. Who cares

Yeah, can you rephrase that? It sounds like you were trying to make a point, got lost, and changed it to a personal attack. I didn’t say I agreed with them, I simply stated some reasons for having it.

Sorry. Not an attack and didn’t lose my point

they made a change to show the difference but some of you don’t think it’s enough. Oh well. It sounds like you want people to know you have a cellular watch. When it comes down to it I doubt a single human being gives a rats ass what type of Watch you or anyone else has. Sounds like your trying to flex over a watch

The stainless steel watches are visually very different than the aluminum ones. No one cares if your watch connects to LTE or not, if you want a flashier look go for the stainless models.

Also the digital crown has a red ring for LTE models so your serial number argument is kinda BS—if you're troubleshooting a watch it's super easy to tell.

I never said I wanted them to change it or even gave an opinion on it. I was saying some people and Apple wants there to be a way to easily tell if it has a cellular antenna. The initial post was a request to remove the red crown. I asked them what they would want to change so you can still see it has cellular because that’s important.

And please be more careful with how you direct your comments. You are making personal attacks.

Drowning, struggling to survive, failing at your attempts to defend and justify your statements...
No. I am remaining consistent and afloat. Identification is important to Apple and some users. If the red crown is removed it needs to be replaced with some other way of identifying it for the same reasons I provided. Some people may feel superior over others with no branding but many, if not most, want the brands visible.

Ha ha your right. Apple did want a way to tell the difference and it’s the red crown. I’ve never heard or read others crying about this. What is the real reason behind your argument because non of your points are valid. Your “needs” you listed aren’t needs at all. After 6 watches and being the top selling Watch globally I don’t think apple stands behind your argument either

Again. Please stop the directed statements. Reread the thread and understand what the discussion is about.

funny the 7th gen STILL has a red crown. So nothing is being removed yet. When and if they decide to remove the red crown I’m sure they will get your approval first

Yes, a white ring around the crown rather than a red one. That way it's a neutral color and doesn't clash with other colors on the watch / bands / clothing.

I could see white, at least for the darker shells. I am not sure if it would stand out on some of the lighter colors, though it might work.

I prefer people have no clue what I have. I don't want to get mugged.
