You mean from the Apple store back to your car.
You know I'm always just a bit nervous when I do that and have some expensive gadgets in my Apple bag. I've never had a problem, of course I live in a pretty safe area. It's always good to walk with a group or bring some mates with you.

yea.. especially now that people are aware of what's out.. that's easily a $640+ item in that bag, (value speaking). so someone in the store maybe a wandering eye and knows what that person bought and then they can follow them to their car and them BOOM..

Shove the phone in your pocket, hand them the bag if a mugging happens, laugh when they get home to an empty box.

In all seriousness, I am not terribly worried. It has crossed my mind, but the stores I frequent are in very public places, which minimizes risk. Realistically I use my phone in much more dangerous places than the Apple store parking lot. I also don't really believe in carrying a gun wherever you go, so that's not an option for me,

This entire thread is pathetic.

Guns?

Fast Food?

$1000 phones getting stolen? How about $2,000 macs that are worth way more since they do not need activation, etc.

You have all lost touch with reality. Fox news loves you.

I am doing a store pick up this friday... not to be paranoid, anyone else concerned with the issue of getting jumped if someone wants to steal the phone from you? walking from the store to the parking lot is a long walk.

I plan to tuck it away in a special "hiding" spot

Slightly yes. I can't see myself taking it to school for a few weeks. I feel like someone might mess with me for it or grab it when I'm not looking or out of my pocket or something.

Sounds paranoid but I got an $850 phone with no protection so

i don't open my phones till later.

Just a suggestion on how to stay slightly safer. Do whatever works for you man! I know when someone is robbing you they are very unlikely to open the box and check the contents inside. Most robbers take your sack and run. Joke's on them.

1. go to Samsung store.
2. Buy a cheap piece of junk - like a USB key or a Galaxy Note
3. Throw out the junk, keep the Samsung bag.
4. When you pick up your iPhone, put it in the Samsung bag.
5. Carry it jauntily, swinging it and singing a little song about your new Samsung phone.
6. Watch people avoid you.

My wife has a note and I like it just as much as my 5s. Why act like some of the fandroids do on other forums?

Buy a smaller phone so you can run back.
Or as said before hit them with it.

In the UK its a lot easier, I will walk out of the phone shop at 8:10 am and take a normal paced walk back to the car, My town is a little rough (the McDondals closed last year) And can't see of having any problems. I won't be carrying any weapons with me as they are all illegal in the UK.

I guess being 6ft 3" and built like a brick outhouse may help

If you are getting the new iBrick I wouldn't really worry about it. It's so big it can double as a concealed carry weapon. If a stranger is approaching you on your long walk from the consumer products store to your vehicle just make them in the head with your new iBrick. They'll be out cold :D

Um, they do it here. You'd know that if you'd been here more than a minute and a half.

Yeah. Ok. You actually act just like them. You can't respond to someone without sarcasm? Only asked you a question. Must have a lot of insecurities. Good luck with whatever those may be. Have a good night

So what is the reality then? Do you seriously believe that muggings and robberies never happen? Sounds like you're the one who's lost touch with reality.

Just bring a plane bag with you when you go and pick it up. I would hate to be walking out of T-Mobile with a bright pink bag "look at me I got a new I-phone". When the Ipad released, I remember the local news covering a story where a guy was walking out of the mall with his new Ipad in an Apple bag wrapped around his fingers, then some dude swiped the bag and took off the tip of his finger off along with his Ipad. Crazy people out there. Be careful.

Wasn't it last year when people were robbed waiting in line on launch day at one of the Apple Stores?

Thieves know lots of cash in those pockets waiting to buy.

People are getting shot, robbed all the time on craigslist buyers and sellers, during apple transactions.

My neighbors son was in jail for a DUI and told his Mom all the criminals in jail said apple products was the best merchandise to steal. Last year or year before remember seeing on the news thieves drove their car through the apple store glass jumped out and was grabbing all the apple product in site. They were captured on video.

Nope, it's a nice area, lots of older folks. Also, when I get it I always wrap the string around my arm, clasp the bag tight and walk in a very aggressive/defensive way while constantly observing my surroundings. Not worried.

Maybe we can start a hashtag campaign on Twitter, they seem to work.

Something like - #DontMugiPhoneBuyers
