...but the "iPhone@home" thing sounds kinda eehhhh

Agreed. Why would you want 1) a 10 inch screen at home, 2) a battery for use at home, 3) No external HDMI, DVI or composite connectors for use at home to connect to my big screen?

Why not just buy an AppleTV???

Well if you read it… some sentences have a very "odd" use of English — not neccesarily incorrect, just the kind of thing a non-native English speaker/writer might use…

new.mac release with smooth Google integration, but in the Apple Look,
new ToDo application (and administers all ToDos from all applications collects)
And Rome getting a store before say, Paris or Berlin? Not that I am doubting the status of Rome… but just another oddity…

Here's the exact quote I would love to hear.. (and I'm not entirely sure why because I can't get the iPhone anyways).. regardless.
Steve: "You know, prices of components, processors, screens, memory... everything... are always going down and when we announced this iPhone way back in January we priced it at 499 and 599 for 4gb and 8gb models. Since then we've realized that those price and memory points are out of line with current prices so we had an option: reduce the price and keep the specs the same, or keep the price the same and bump up the specs. We discussed endlessly and came to decision that why not do both? That's why today I'm pleased to announce the iPhone will launch at 399 and 499 in 8gb and 16gb versions!"
Sorry for the length of it.. I'm at work and am bored... and tried to write it as Steve would say it.

Er... Maybe I'm not remembering correctly, but didn't a store just open in Rome recently?

Announced today: a limited licensing deal with Dell to ship OSX on mac/intel clones. :)

Never say never. After all the Intel architecture switch surprised most people.

True enough, but a select agreement with Dell / HP / whoever where the design controls can be contractually maintained is not the same as a generic Leopard install disc for the masses - a lot of Windows issues are simply down to badly coded drivers for cheap hardware.

Apple avoids this by keeping all driver coding (aside from some peripherals) in-house, designed only to work on certified Apple hardware.

As can be seen with the OSx86 community, YMMV when trying to use OS X on generic x86 hardware...

Indeed. That would be how it would begin though. The thin end of the wedge, if you like.

I think you're correct. :)

So that probably makes the rest of the "list" suspect as well.

Not that I believe the list, but it could just mean they'll talk about the recently opened store, since its followed by the 'new stores soon' bit...

Same as with the PPC!

Call me a pessimist, but does anyone else feel like this won't be a very exciting WWDC? Especially the "secret features." I'm still skeptical about that one.

The changes have been as quick as when we had PPC Macs. The only difference is that now we can run MS Windows & those apps at a faster speed. So as far as Macs have gone, the changes are much more minor. Remember we're 17+ months into this change. Intel Mac Pros are still the same as they were other than a new processor that just added a new dual quad, but left everything else where they were.

This has not been a hardware year yet. Maybe the changes will come in even number years with the odd number years being a time to replenish our bank accounts & deal with the more paridly changing third party suppliers.

Let's hope at least they will be talking about the Mac at WWDC 2007. That will be a pleasant change from MW iPhone 2007. The third party suppliers need more outward support than they got earlier this year.

I hope iMac updates come this week before Sunday.... I bought a 20" iMac CD last Sunday since it was on sale for pretty cheap but I still have until this Sunday to return it to buy a new one if they drop the prices.

What do you think the changes will be in the new iMacs if they are announced later today?

Will the processors get a significant speed bump?
