Heh, that's all I want from this WWDC. Can't run leopard without it. (I really can't, I only have 551.7MB left on my PowerBook)

.mac is long overdue an update. I hope they sort this out, and if they have to involve google, so be it. You can botch together a passable .mac replacement with free tools and google so why not have it for free right here in the OS?

As for the "What if..." I think the fact VMWare Fusion and Parallels have both had updates in the last week or so and there has now been an early bird price set for the full version of Fusion suggests they are both rattled by something....and that could be some VM solution built into Leopard.

I'm thinking that hardware might take a back seat but I'm not building up my hopes deliberately so I don't get disappointed. :)

Wouldn't it be a good idea for a .mac service that can host media, including media from the iTMS, and stream it to your computers and iPhone around the world via. wifi?

Sort of like the PS3s remote play function with PSP.

Holy crap... It's tomorrow morning, isn't it???

Hoping for new iLife to go with my new SR MBP and the copy of Leopard I will hopefully be sent as a further insentive to use the Student Developer discount. (As if I needed any other reasons above AU$270 discount off Edu pricing!)

Yup yup, ZFS and a brand new sweet 'n gooey GUI in Leopard. And free Leopard upgrades for all who buy after the 11th. Or 12th for us Aussies...

And new Mac Pros. New iMacs soon. OK, I dunno with the hardware.

Am I the only one excited about Leopard?. People on this thread seem to think this is macworld (wanting new iPods, iMacs...etc). It is a developers conference for crying out loud.

Anyway, I am really looking forward to a revamped Finder and a UI refresh. I expect to see extensive use of CoreAnimation too. Only a few hours...

"Secret" Leopard feature:

* Updated Front Row UI. Possibly AppleTV'ish, but with better codec support :)

just a 2 cent guess ...

I'm gonna try and make some predictions:

- SJ will start off with some figures first (Q2 being nearly over and all)
- some talk about recent changes in iTunes (EMI, iTunes U), maybe getting movies to Europe and canada, who knows maybe even iTunes 8
- Leopard: choice of FS between HFS+ and ZFS, defaults to ZFS, ZFS is needed for timemachine (I don't think HFS+ supports snapshotting, but I'm not sure), more blabla on Spaces, boot camp support for other OS'es as well (linux), new scalable UI, new Finder, new iCal. new Mail.app
- iPhone ship date + some features not demoed at macworld
- One more thing: new iPod

Just a few more hours...

Well, afaik nobody has said that Front Row will be updated... but it is reasonable to believe it will be

I am not saying it won't happen. I just don't see that on the list of the Top secret features that Apple don't want anyone else to know about. There is nothing revolutionary about updating front row to be AppleTV like.

Yes. AFAIK Jobs has dropped some very heavy hints at a .mac revision. Sooner rather than later please Apple.

Maybe we will see a combined .Mac and iLife/iWork package, using elements of the google web-apps/cloud computing infrastructure. How about automatic uploads of saved documents to .mac with online editing available via the online google apps. It fits the 'D' win 'WWDC' if its opened up to all mac programmes.

Broadcasting LIVE from WWDC

Hi if any of WWDC attendees watching this, I suggest that you use http://www.blogTV.com to stream from the event LIVE to your blog readers. Its easy and it works perfectly with firefox on a mac.

It's not just a cool idea. It's one I advocated 6 months ago.

10" backlit multi-touch display you can hang on your wall like a picture frame.

iPhone front-end GUI.iChat or Skype used as the mode of conversation.
It controls your :apple: TV.Does email. Is portable.
Remove it from it's dock and sit with it in your lap or leave it on the wall.
Although I personally believe it should have a normal phone receiver attached.

Anybody know what the market is for phones ?..

Visualize.....

Visualize.......

you walk into your apartment/condo/house..
Go over to the iPhone@Home and check your messages while turning on your favorite tunes via the TV.

This would sell..

It sure would. I'm building a new house soon and have been looking into a number of home automation options (media integration, power management, comms, security system management, heating/lighting control etc). A lot of those vendors use 7 to 12 inch (sometimes portable) displays for controlling the whole set-up - which seems to run from Linux based servers. If Apple is serious about the digital home concept, then they need something like this, and with the OSX/iPhone OS being opened up to 3rd party development, there is a huge market for this kind of thing.

The constancy between iphone for day to day mobile comms/data/entertainment and using a similar device at home would give apple a huge advantage over the myriad of bespoke solutions out in the market for this kind of digital home integration. and the cost is not an issue for this market since they re already used to paying Mac Pro type prices. If this is true and sells for <$2000 then it would have a market. The people who buy the high end stuff in T3 magazine would be all over it! And who is to say that the apps would not trickle down to the iPhone as well, since it would be practically the same device with just a smaller screen.

Apple has seen the future of the digital home and I'm convinced they realise that it will take devices that do not have a keyboard and mouse to get people excited, hence AppleTV, Ipod, Iphone and hopefully a home server Mac to o along with the iPhone@home. OK people will still need a computer to set up and configure this stuff to c certain extent, but as a back end, rather than the main conduit for the user expecience. even Microsoft is starting to realise this.

I doubt this is new product will materialise, but I hope it is even if I can't afford it on day one.

WWDC To Announce OSX Operation on ALL Intel Platforms - Not Just Apple Brand!

You heard it here first guys - Steve will announce publically a supported driverbase and program to enable all Intel systems to run OSX in direct competition with Microsoft.

;)

My best rumor would be:

"Buy a MacBook Pro after June 1st, 2007 and get a free upgrade to Leopard when it is released."

Just to get the waiters off the fence since this latest drop is probably what we'll see through fall.

Hmm - bad timing - my .mac ran out last week so ive just paid £70 for another year! Wonder what they will change!?
