Well hopefully I struck gold today and this one will be perfect until the next MBP is released.Didn't say 5 with a bad "e" key, said I have had a few issues with this one as well, including an unresponsive "e" key.

The MBP price is a significant issue, I must admit. When I compare to a 17" Lenovo laptop (with a great selection of ports) for around $1400...

I would say the X1 Extreme is a closer approximation and more of an apples to apples comparison then the P72 which houses a workstation GPU.The MBP price is a significant issue, I must admit. When I compare to a 17" Lenovo laptop (with a great selection of ports) for around $1400...

My brother in law still uses my mine today never had a problemThat one was so funny. Such a crisis on the forums, but in real life it was a giant nothing burger. Never had a single problem with that phone. One of the best Apple put out. Ever. I still have one today. Never dropped a call. No real life person I've ever met had a problem with the phone. But people screamed on the forums like it was the end of the world. Never buy products based on forums like this. People love to complain, but real life is massively different.

The X1E with current incentives has the base 4k model priced at 2,083 where as a similar equipped MBP 3,150.

I got the standard 2018 15 with 16 GB of ram, 2.6 Ghz 17, Radeon 560x, 512 GB SSD.
Day 2. Everything is still great. I have even been hunting for all the issues I have heard about with these machines. One particular post on here, this one: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/macbook-pro-2018-speakers-crackling.2128234/ I really tried to get my machine to exhibit the issue and it does not. Which is strange considering one of the last posts on that very long thread claims that "ALL" 2018 MBPs do it...“Day 1”

With no fear of all new issues if they release a gen 1 model?Probably not. We're in the mid-product cycle of the 2018 MBP. If I needed a brand new MBP, I would wait until the next refresh.
We shall see. I do plan on continuing to share my experience and findings. Let's call is a mini MBP documentary. As far as hunting for bugs, I like to do this. I want to see if the people claiming that ALL machines do X is true or overblown hype. The thread I just mentioned is very long and very convincing, and yet I cannot get my machine to exhibit said audio glitch.I wouldn't start "trying" to create problems - these machines have a knack for doing that themselves over time.

They are not votes for dumping the MBP. The poll is about buying a new one TODAY. Please don't twist my poll.almost 2x votes today for dumping the MBP
I respect that. To each their own.I'm happy with my 2015 MBP 13".
Not interested in anything new.
Too expensive.
Too much uncertainty.
No thanks!

I highly doubt there would be a significant redesign anytime soon but if there was, I probably would be fine. Having had an iPhone 6, iPad 1, and now first gen AirPods, I've been quite lucky regarding Gen 1 ModelsWith no fear of all new issues if they release a gen 1 model?

Can you quote some of these issues and people where they are claiming "all machines do X"?
I think it's important we call that out here as basically "nothing" happens to "all machines".
I’m only a forum guy, but my 4 was unusable at times without a case because of the antenna problem. No problems with the 4s.That one was so funny. I upgrade from my 2012 MBP to a new one last month. I got the MBP 15", 512gb, 16GB RAM.
NOT ONE SINGLE ISSUE. I use this MBP about 10 - 12 hours every single day. Mon - Sun.
To be fair, the Lenovo P72 isn't an ultrabook so it isn't a 1:1 (or at least as close as you can get with the OS differences at play) as you'll have a larger, heavier, and thicker machine. The Lenovo X1 line is more comparable to the MBP as a powerful ultrabook class machine.
The more size and weight you take on the cheaper the price gets on the Windows side (excluding gamer machines which merge high price with high weight and thickness).
