This is a spinoff the the thread where John Gruber about the next iPhone at a price point starting at $1500.

Let's say Apple starts the iPhone 8 at $1500, would you buy? I don't want to give a sample set of specs or anything, but let's just assume it's a new design, starts out at high storage (no 32 or 64 even), and has more bells and whistles than the iPhone 7s/7s Plus. I'm only putting 2 poll options, if you aren't sure if you'd buy it or not then just don't vote I guess. I just want to see what % of the population would buy it at this price or completely ignore it because of the price.

I'll pay $1,000 for a 256GB Galaxy Note 8 with 6.4" OLED display VR support, 6GB RAM, Stylus, and next Gen LTE Radios none of which Apples IPhone 8 will have.

Even without seeing the device, i just cant see how it will be value for money so i wont be buying one.
Regardless of the object, i only buy what i consider to be "value for money" be it a house, a car or a electronics device.

Everyone is different, and I'm sure some would, but there's absolutely no way I'd pay $1500 for any phone. It's hard to even justify that much with the current line of MacBook Pros or iPad Pros. What could a phone possibly do to justify that price point?

I'm still on my iPhone 6s, and sadly nothing has changed since to make me want to upgrade. The A9 processor seems to be able to handle everything and likely will for the foreseeable future. There isn't anything new on the iPhone 7 except a missing headphone jack and a marginally faster processor. We will see if the iPhone 7s will bring anything new to the table, but, judging by the leaks so far, I'm leaning towards skipping this release.

So, the new article reads that 64gb on the iPhone 8 could be 999 without tax or accessories. I know I'm going to want the 256gb version which could go up to 1296. With an 70 case, possible pencil, and tax that is now pushing the new iPhone up past 1500.

My last iPhone 6 was 499. With a case and tax it came to approximately 650. I've had it for 3ish years and am now considering keeping for another couple (until the price drops on the iPhone 8).

I think the iPhone 8 might have gotten to cost prohibitive for me. :(

I LOVE Apple products but I seriously don't know about this ask...

No, I won't. I just bought a new iPad Pro with accessories that came out to 1200. I seriously can't believe it is going to be 1500 for a new iPhone 8 and it is looking more and more like that.

Yes but you don't have to buy those extras. The pencil is not essential and neither is a case

I paid $900 for my iPhone 6s Plus 128Gb a couple years ago, and sales were off the hook.

A significant amount of people WILL pay over $1500 for the iPhone 8(?) - it WILL be in high demand and it WILL be hard to get.

Especially since 0% interest monthly payments are now common. No-brainer.

Myself? I'm on a 3-year upgrade cycle this time around. Will hang on to my 6S+ until next years' 8s. My battery is still going strong, I've got tons of great features and ARKit will be coming to my phone. Plus, I like being on the "S" cycles. Let others break in the new, big hardware changes first.

I draw the line at $650 and even that just too damn high. You can get a new Samsung J7 for under $200 and it gets the job done.

Def won't do the pencil but I will the case. It's esssntial to me and third party cases are fugly. Might as well get a windows phone if I get a third party case. Haha recently a case manufacture is getting sued because their gel glitter case was burning users.
[doublepost=1503680279][/doublepost]On the individual phone costs I think Apple has priced me out. I just don't know about the price. I love love love my phone but at what costs....

If Apple bundles AirPods and a wireless charging pad I’ll pay $1500 for it. If the new iPhone is priced at $1099 for the 256GB model, including tax and the wireless charging dock at $79 and we’re at $1411.
My 256GB 7+ was $1279 with tax and AppleCare+, throw in the AirPods that I purchased a couple of months later and the total cost of the iPhone 7+ now $1451.
A lot of us are already putting that kind of money into our phones. We’ll see if this special anniversary iPhone is worth that kind of money. If it’s not there will be plenty of carrier incentives to boost sales.

In retrospect, I think it depends. If an iPhone is your primary means of computing and it is a very personal device that you may use when commuting then 1500 bucks might be acceptable to some. A lot of people pay that kind of money for computers still and may get less use from the computer or laptop. It's hard to say for everybody but certainly my iphone purchasing ceiling was and still is 200 bucks.

I can't even justify the cost of a 7 or 7 Plus for what you get, so unless that $1500 (or even $999) iPhone does something amazing, like turns into a vehicle, or can teleport people, or revives Steve Jobs to stop the stupidity at Apple? I'll be sticking with my SE until it's no longer viable.

Just please make another iPhone SE update next Spring Apple

I'm teetering on the edge with my lifelong love for Apple here..
These huge and massively expensive "phones" as the only new/top end options is such a turn off.

Remember when making something small and sexy was considered a premium feature too?

I will get 10 times more things done in the same amount of time from a laptop that is half the price and half the speed.

For $1500, I expect a good BJs from any cellphone.
Even a satellite phone don't cost half as much today.

In answer to the OP, I can't think of anything Apple may do that would have me spending more $1000 for an iPhone, much less $1500.

I love Apple products and its ecosystem, having a 2012 rMBP, a 10.5 iPad Pro, and a 6s iPhone. I will give my wife, who could not care less about trendy tech, my 6s to upgrade her old 4S, and I plan to buy a 7s Plus or possibly a 7 Plus, depending what improvements come with the 7s Plus.

Were it not for iOS, its security and being integrated with my tablet and computer, I would be tempted to go with a mid-range Android. My phone is not close to being my main computer.

Even the thought of spending over $900 for a phone has me second guessing my sanity, but I would probably do it for 128 GB+. I paid $850 for my 6S+. $1500 is absolutely ridiculous. I wouldn't even spend that much on a Mac. My MacBook Air was $800 on Black Friday last year.

I will buy if that iphone include all feature below

1- oled 4k display
2- wireless charing
3- water resistant 100%
4- face id scann fastes ever
5- redeisn everything model

Otherwise no one will spend 1,500$ buy a phone just few upgrade
like 6S to 7

:)
