I'm not trying to protect Apple here, but the software is still beta. They are still playing with it and they are adding to Maps everyday. They have added so many more 3D imagery in beta 3 and it will be SO much better in the final release.

By the way, they are using TomTom data and traffic, so actually TomTom needs to do a bit of work too.
In short = Beta.

That article goes to show the naysayers wrong, who claimed apple were not using the data from C3.....

Another thought...could they be clearing the cars off of the road now for future implementation of turn-by-turn in 3D or their own StreetView modes?

Makes sense to me...I guess that's why I posted it...:p

Try doing that with Google Maps. :) ImageUploadedByTapatalk1342800993.215844.jpg

wish they gave the options, google maps or apple maps

in my country, the apple maps options is absolute ****. It's incomplete as hell, google maps was much much better.

I don't see what the point of talking about something that hasn't come out yet is. Just wait for it so you can judge.

hopefully it doesn't stay beta as long as siri has, I need my maps

Just get Google Maps if Apple Maps is not satisfactory in iOS 6. I'm sure it'll still be available on the App Store.

Apple has a long, long history of delivering half-baked software missing a ton of features as their first effort. This dates back to Steve Jobs when he was never as focused on lots of features as he was on usability of a few good features.

I fully expect Apple maps to be no exception. Very cool and very usable for 2-3 basic things. Very much a first effort everywhere else.

Used maps today or rather, managed to. Interface is wow
Beats google hollow but as posted earlier I doubt their data will ever be there for smaller places
Not because they can't but because we don't matter :(
Business sense I guess

If I were Google I wouldn't release it for iOS. I'd keep the mature and global maps as a selling point for Android. And since their customer base includes people in poorer countries that can afford cheaper Android based phones, they have greater reason to have good coverage outside the US. If Google plays their cards right, this could be a win for them.

People would then just use the native iOS Maps. Unless we're talking about Turn by Turn GPS people aren't generally critical of maps. I'm not sure Google's going to have that much sway with their maps. iOS 6 maps do a few things that are slick (like proper zooming) that people will be accustomed to quickly.

Someone that wants to look at or lives near Fushun China (my wife's hometown) would not use the native maps. Someone looking for small bodies of water nearby wouldn't want to use it either.
