Problem with that design is that there is no way to fit proper desktop speakers inside the case.

The speakers the iMac uses are absolutely phenomenal.
People complaining Apple prioritized thinness over all else with this iMac and yet in that mock-up the device is thinner than this iMac. Someone just took an iPad Pro, blew it up and attached it to an iMac stand.

Man, that iMac G4 was gorgeous.
One of my absolute favorite designs. I remember articulating the screen based on tasks. That was great.

I said earlier, it is not the bezels, colors or chin on this iMac. I actually like the ethernet/power brick on the higher end version. And for 80% of users, the M1 is more power than is needed, and localized storage for many (not all, not me) is not that essential.

But if you need localized storage, you are paying exorbitant prices or attaching a lot of devices. If you need more RAM than typical use case...

All ridiculous looking devices. They look like toys now, as they did then.
Nonsense. When the iconic G3 launched with all its colours, that’s exactly what the PC brigade sneered whilst secretly ashamed of their clunky beige boxes.

As for the G4 Luxo, that was, and remains arguably the most aesthetically pleasing Mac of all, alongside the G4 Cube, hence why both are in MoMA. Peak Jony Ive. It was no toy either. its a shame it only lasted 2 years apparently due to the thermal challenges of the G5 chip.

Now that last pic, the god awful chinified slab-on-a-foot G5, a design that was carried over into the first Intel iMac and has survived and evolved for 17 years, that’s the horror that has been replicated in plastic dummy form and is seen in IKEA stores the world over.

Who needs “proper desktop speakers”? A ridiculous compromise if that‘s the primary reason for the chin.

Personally, I had no interest in Mac design until they went with aluminum. Before that, they tended to look like Baby’s First Compu-tor. Everything comes back around. 🤣

The acrylic G4 Cube looked nothing like a kids toy.

For those who may not have noticed, the colors appear to be specific and for specific marketing.

First, The colors of the new iMac are the original apple logo colors plus Silver for the iconic iMac color.

Also, I think they will easily market to the LGBTQ community representing rainbow.

I'm ok with the colors, maybe not for everybody. I agree that it would be nice to get rid of, or at least reduce the chin.

That's it for me.

Reviewing the M1 iMac reveal segment the bezel is NOT white it’s a soft grey colour. I am sure the marketing images are not doing it justice maybe it’s acceptable in-person where the hue is a little lighter than the TiBook.

Is this really the darkest we get?
The greyish chin and white bezels don't even match...

Oh and it's not height adjustable.

I'll stick with the concept one published earlier today, thank you.

the iMac has never been Height Adjustable. and this concept looks like a big ipad stuck to the Apple Pro Display XDR stand. looks ugly

Everybody said it would be a giant iPad with small bezels. Now it still has that nasty big chin sans the Apple logo. WTF

What a disappointment and lost opportunity to create a beautiful iMac.

This is so ugly.
Right, dunno what they were thinking. Ordering LG Ergo Flex 4K Display to use with my macbook. If the 32" (?) iMac looks the same it will be such a disappointment.
