These machines look cracking and I suspect they'll be the best selling iMac's that have ever existed. You get a lot in simple package and they even have a VESA mount version ready to fill up millions of computer labs. It is about time we got some colour into computers again, not everything has to look like a 80s VCR.

Love them! The yellow is irresistible I think. They are light computers for homes, students, shops, very true to the first iMac, right? Bigger ones in black for semi professional use are only a couple of months away is my guess. Why do people get so worked up about the chin? It’s an elegant solution to a technical requirement if you want to keep the overall thickness down, which is aesthetically essential to keep the iMac within the parameters of Apple’s new design language.

powerful M-series SoCs with more CPU and more GPU cores. Apple is also developing their own GPU which sound like it will either be on-package (like the memory) or on the system board like the current AMD discrete GPUs.
these components sounds and are great, the peak of renovation in the computer industry!
and off topic, the writer was focused on the new iMacs and the direction has taken today.

 will profit mostly from other products and investments these iMac won't boost their portfolio or worth.

a 2007 member?, very impressive and thank you for supporting these forums all these years, a respectful cheers!

Can't remember the last Mac I've disliked more.

1. White bezels are trash. Especially on a desktop.

2. Chin looks especially big with no logo.

3. A power brick!?!?

4. Power brick has no ethernet port on the base model nor on the machine.

5. 8 GB is standard and not future-proof.

6. Headphone jack on the side of the machine. Will look terrible with speakers plug into it.

7. No USB-A ports on the base model.

I think I like the colors. It's a bit of a shock, but wft. Not having grey or black is strange, yes.

Also, considering shades and color are a representations of emotions, and dark shades aren't included is interesting. The colors are soothing.

No doubt heads will explode on this forum when Tim Cook announced Apple's 2022 financials and reports Mac revenue has more than doubled, driven by strong sales of these Pastel iMacs. :p
Every product release brings out the naysayers and contrarians. It’s best to reserve judgement on an Apple product launch until at least a year afterward.

I find the design and colour aesthetically pleasing. I have no gripe with the colours, the chin or the lack of ugly ports and cables that dangle from the back. I love the Ethernet in power idea.

I can't wait till tech bloggers start calling the stand the "foot" and get you all freaking out because it's too big.

I have the iMac 5K and it's got chunky bezels on all sides and I LIKE IT because it provides a visual break from what's behind the computer. As for the "chin" I never notice it because I'm, you know, looking at what's on the screen instead of fixating on the frame.
Yeah, I really agree with this sentiment. I cannot understand people’s inane obsession with the bezels of the outgoing iMac design being outdated and ugly in a form factor that doesn’t warrant any benefits from anything considered to be more ‘technically advanced’. It’s not like a laptop where less screen bezel = smaller product dimensions, maximised screen real estate this maximised portability where it matters. Even on the iPad, a screen bezel as a functional benefit of being a suitable handle.

They offered a fantastic pallet cleanser between screen and backdrop. The thinner you make this the less clear the definition of this transition is, and all of a sudden you’ve got a prosumer machine that has a built in display which isn’t performing its function to the best of its design potential. Having said that, I’m not entirely sure about the new white bezel. But as a long time user of many white Mac products, I can’t ever recall it affecting my productivity or experience with the content.

People just love to moan.

Idea is good but not good for those that are buying the base model.

I hope my Belkin USB-C to Ethernet dongle will work on the base iMac with my wired network (never use WiFi)...

And the last port will be taken up by a 2nd display (4K).....

Gosh - no more ports - have to get a breakout dongle box...

When all's said and done, this is the best consumer all-in-one desktop computer you can buy. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with it, unless there are significant quality control issues.

My gripe is as usual is the low storage and ram specs in the base machine - 256GB really isn't enough, 512GB is more like it; and I would also specify 16GB ram. That adds £400 to the price in the UK, enough to buy a Dell Inspiron Windows PC with monitor.

Or USB3 ports. Or Ethernet. That is some serious price gouging.
The thunderbolt 3 ports can also be used as usb 3. Ethernet can be connected via a $15 USB/Ethernet adapter.
But so incredibly common still. Apple has tried to force USB C but there's so many accessories that still, years later, are only available for USB A, meaning us, the user, has to decide to use a different device or have a freaking adapter.
Even worse.... I have a bunch of USB C devices (audio interface, scanner, camera...) and all of those came with a USB-C to USB-A cable so now I’m using multiple USB-C to USB-A adapters just to connect to USB-C devices...

It looks like a generic 'computer' icon brought to life. 🤣 Uninspiring. Overpriced. Pathetic.
Thanks for the insight Debby Downer?
I don't mind the colors or even the chin. what gets me is the white bezels, why couldn't they just color match them to the color of the Mac?
Was hoping for that too...

Yes, this is going to be very interesting seeing how many of them Apple sells. Easily one of their most popular computers!

Yup, that makes perfect sense.
I love the Ethernet in power idea.
Careful! You're going to attract some controversy! :p
Without the chin we would have a rather large stalk to get the screen to eye level. Less important on the VESA mount edition, but still it would look awful without the chin.
Why is there no logo though? Will have to use one of my Apple stickers...

We will see about that.

Are you going to spend the rest of eternity complaining about it?
I thought the same thing, a 5nm cpu that is literally 5 months old and this guy is whining that there is no new cpu 🤣
Yeah, it's still much better than any of Intel's offerings.

Steve Jobs just messaged to say; ‘If people like it, they’ll buy it! If they don’t, they won’t!’

If you can do better, put you money where your mouth is, or call a tech company, provide your credentials/degrees and do it, otherwise accept what most know, the creation of software and hardware is a challenge, and a company that is worth $1 Trillion must have done something right.🙄

Now that I've sat with it for a few hours, I really think they're gonna sell a boatload of these as business machines. It's a great price point, and it looks to be a solid day-too-day office computer. I can see computer labs in schools set up with these as well. I too am hoping for a larger, more powerful version to come (soon), but in the meantime I think this is gonna be a HUGE cash injection. This machine isn't for me, but that's because this machine was made for a different demo. Nothing wrong with that. If I want to go down this road, I'll probably just grab a Mini for less dough. But otherwise, I'm looking forward to seeing if anything is released at WWDC

yes! This is just what I was waiting for: I like colour (and touchID)

I get the "fun-factor" of the colors, but it really looks like one of those IKEA "dummy-units" they put on every desk. Horrible design if you ask me.
You're absolutely right, but that's because most of those were copying the (previous) iMac design anyway. Once you dismiss the similarities with a lot of iMac-clones out there, is a nice design.

quite; over two (American trillion $) now

Everyone just remember, ethernet and TouchID are not included in the base model (and it's pricing)

Sure hope the speakers are good - sure as heck won't want to plug in externals with the headphone jack on the side
