I'd be happy to reach just 1.0mbps. I can't even break 0.12. Hope it improves.

Browsing is fine - it's the downloading apps from the app store or watching youtube. YouTube is literally impossible, have to buffer for 5x the length of the video before you can hit play without interruptions.

Not bad for Verizon!

I don't have a Sprint iPhone, but I can tell you that data speeds on Sprint have gone down in the past two years.

I got a Palm Pre back in 2009, and the speeds were beautiful. In fact, 3G speed was so good that I didn't even have Wifi configured, because I could pretty much do everything over 3G no matter where I was.

Eventually, towards mid-2010, Sprint data started to slow down in my area. I suspect it was because their network was getting overloaded from the new popular smartphones like the Evo that use a lot of data. It was still usable but nowhere near as fast. My last data point was in November 2010 when I got an AT&T iPhone 4.

So yeah, Sprint was starting to slow down last year. I'm thinking with all these new iPhone customers, it's going to get worse before it gets better. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but that's just the way it is when a lot of people use a shared resource.

AT&T has been pretty good to me, but I sometimes miss Sprint because CDMA phones work better inside big buildings. I often have no signal in parts of the campus library; this wasn't a problem on Sprint. It's a tradeoff.

I live in Houston,TX and these are the results of speedtests -

This morning (inside my apartment) - Houston,TX server

Afternoon (inside) - Houston,TX server

Honestly, I am not worried about those speeds. Yeah they are less than AT&T speeds but I was able to stream 2 hr movie off youtube without any problems with decent quality. Browsing is great too. Unlimited data is reason I am not switching to AT&t. I used up 400mb to stream that movie :D

P.S - I am paying $156 after 23% employee discount for 4 iphone 4S lines - 1500 shared mins ,unlimited mobile to any mobile , text and data.

That's nice I pay 190$ for 4 lines in sprint unlimited everything besides landlines , which we use 50 of those at month lol

Yeah, Sprint speeds do look pathetic...

AT&T has the fastest 3G network in the nation TBH :)

And the worst possible customer service imagineable.

I opted to opt out of texting 5 times. Yes, 5 times. Because at the start of every billing cycle, the "opt-out" request somehow disappeared from their computers, and I was able to send/receive again. They couldn't understand why it kept happening, lol.

Then they had to issue credits for all the texts I received that I opted out of, which took forever, and often times wasn't right at all.

I spent 2 hours trying to get my visual voicemail working properly to no avail, was transferred 4 different times and had to re-explain my story at least twice, etc.

It was just horrible. I've had all 4 major carriers and in terms of customer service I'd say T Mo > Sprint > Verizon > AT&T.

Same exact experience . My Pre was excellent, 4G is decent, but 3G on all my phones has become retry terrible. It is passable though.

Sprint said they will be fixing up their 3G over the next year, so hopefully that is actually true.

I've only played around with Sprint's 3G for about an hour but it has been extremely slow, just a few steps from up from Edge IMO.

I started off with AT&T with the iPhone and then moved to Verizon and now to Sprint. AT&T and Verizon were extremely fast with 3G. Hopefully this won't be a normal occurrence.

Same here. I have iP4 on AT&T 3g...and now a Sprint iP4s. WOW!!!! What a disappointment. I hope it gets better!

Not to be OCD or anything, but does anyone think there could be somerhing wrong with my phone?

I am not in the New York area, I'm in an area that isn't congested and all networks have worked relatively well all the time here, although I've never had Sprint.

I've been testing it on and off all day today and I can't get anything higher than 0.07mbps no matter what time of day or where I am. (I tried it while I was out earlier in all different locations)

I'm on sprint too...FML it's terrible. Hope it gets better ASAP because even browsing macrumors on 3g is painful - it's dial-up!!!

This was last night on Sprint. It was weird, because I ran the tests, did horribly, ran them right after, and got this. Then ran them again, and did a little worse. This is Orange County btw

I have had AT&T for the past few years but recently moved to an area where their signal is weak at my home. Decided to give Sprint a try, but glad I did not cancel my AT&T first!

Although Sprint showed more bars inside my home than AT&T, almost every call I made with the new 4s on Sprint was dropped. The connection was so bad I couldn't even connect to the speed test server.

When I activated the Sprint 4s, I had to do it in their store, and after it was activated, I ran multiple tests side-by-side with my AT&T 4 - the 4 won hands down, by a LARGE margin with loading web pages, videos, apps etc.

Ended up returning the Sprint phones and cancelling the contract and will just upgrade with AT&T.

For what it's worth, I noticed that the speed varies depending on the server (at least for the Speedtest.net app). The closest server to me (Chula Vista) had about 0.07 Mbps down but Los Angeles (about 100 miles away) got 1.34Mbps down.

So if you're getting really low numbers (or lower numbers than usual) try a different server. While still low numbers (compared to AT&T and Verizon) they're way better than 0.07Mbps.

You browsing the web page? Lol I never been to the web page since I sign up since im always using tapatalk app

Whatever data network sprint had I think the iPhone killed it. The morning I got mine I was able to get like 600 kbps. Since Friday evening onwards it's been 100 or less

Wow, just checked my AT&T 3G. Pulled 4mbps down and 1mbps up.

I'll check with my Sprint 3G/4G mifi and compare. I'll set it to 3G only.

Okay, ran some more test.

AT&T 3G: 98ms 4.89mbps down and 1.12mbps up. (Tested one last time and pulled 5.4mbps down.)

Sprint 4G: 180ms 3.2mbps down and 0.8mbps up.

Sprint 3G: 286ms 0.8mbps down and 0.4mbps up.

I haven't used the Sprint 3G network here in a couple weeks. Used to pull between 1.5-2mbps down and near 1mbps up.

My AT&T connection has definitely improved.

If this doesn't get better, I would seriously consider returning my phone and going back to Verizon. However, I get a 25 percent employee discount with Sprint and that overrides the slow data speeds.

Here are my results on my Sprint iPhone 4S and my AT&T iPhone 4. As of right now, leaning towards returning the Sprint phone and sticking with my 4 on AT&T until the next release.
