PAINFUL. All I can say is that I have finished 3 of 4 devices on the upgrade and the process has been painful and S L O W !!!
Painful? Not even finished the iPhone yet (started 5 mins after iOS 5 was available), never mind the iPad. OS X will be another 3 hours apparently.

Grrrr.. same crap here, endless errors, finally it started to update. Then it craps out with a 3014 error halfway through so now it is stuck in DFU and giving me the same crap over and over again. Took me 2 hours to download, and so far I have been trying 3 hours to get the thing updated.

But maybe it has done it this time... (no error!) w00t.

iCloud?

iCloud seems to be a bit of a disaster at the minute.

I can't get any joy at all with connecting my ip4 to it. The initial set up on the phone accepted the credentials but it never connected and every time I try to connect through Settings, it just flashes back to the home screen without linking up. Server issues again?

Anyone else having the same problem?

Download was fine, took 10 min....then got an error message during backup while installing the software. Something about can't contact the server. Redoing now and my phone just restarted so I think it's working this time. We'll see.

EDIT, new error, Restore could not be completed. My phone appears to be bricked. Verizon iP4. Wonderful. WTF do I do now?

iOS5 Bricked my phone...

Updated- backed up, - error - states can not restore as the update server is not reachable ..

Crap

Freaked out...

Bastard iPhone is now stuck in DFU mode after the last attempt before planning to call it a night. Now I can't use it as an alarm clock to wake me up in the morning either. This sort of thing is really rather poor.

Edit: managed to get through to the server, and the iPhone is now up and running with 5.0

For those getting errors, I followed instructions for mine (3002) and everything began working.

seems to be restoring now...

I hope so - plans tonight and need the phone to get a hold of people.

ouch..

Yep. Got OSX update done without too much trouble (took about half an hour to get the files down, but update went fine). Updates iPhoto, made sure all my iOS apps were up to date. Downloaded iOS5 reasonably quickly, but now I've been trying for 2 hours to get it to install on my iPhone and iPad, and it's fail fail fail. What's particularly annoying is after every failed attempt, it insists on making yet another full backup, so it takes ages between each failed attempt. Also, iCloud doesn't seem to want to actually upload anything from contacts on my mac either. I assume it's all down to the hammering the servers are getting, but it's really frustrating.

Solved (at least for me and some others) by the following: In iTunes 10.5 go to Preferences/Devices and delete the previous Device Backups. Then try again and like magic IT WORKS! Good Luck! YMMV

Can someone answer me this, if I ever get iTunes to restore my phone to its factory settings with the latest software (Assuming that means iOS 5), does that mean I've lost everything as far as settings/contacts/apps/everything before the update? I backed up my phone with iTunes before doing the iOS upgrade, but is that going to matter?

What now?

Downloaded iOS 5, now what.. :(

Dumb question...but how do I recapture my music? I have it in the cloud, but unless I have homeshare on, it won't repopulate on my iPhone. I had no problem with this in Beta

awesome "An error occurred while backing up this iPad (-48). Would you like to continue to update this iPad?" day....

Do NOT do this bad advice!!!! With no back up then lose all info on devise! This is troll. Do NOT delete your backup before restore!!!

someone help, all my devise is crashed from update! :(

Upgrade went fine, migration not so much...

The upgrade went smooth, but very slow. Apparently it backed up everything and did a clean install, even though that's not what I was lead to believe. Oh well, it did get finished eventually.

Migrating to iCloud is another matter. When I tried to merge my .me account, I was consistently told to try again later, just keep using mobile.me. However, when I used my other apple id, it went through and prompted me to set up a new .me account, which did work, even though that wasn't something I wanted to do. I suspect apple is not letting existing MobileMe accounts to merge for a few days, to ease the server traffic.
(ignore my previous statement, iCloud merger completed)
One note, I noticed that the "other" file category on my iPad jumped from 2gigs to over 10gigs.

my restore appears to be working now, but it seems to be just setting the phone back the way it was before i tried to update it (which is fine by me). I'll try iOS 5 later

I am one of the biggest Apple fans, have had every iPhone that has come out, and this, for the first time for me, has been the most disastrous update ever. I too got numerous errors (specifically the 3014 error which, as it turns out, is if you have your Firewall turned on on your Mac) and I then had to restore which took 3 hours.

Finally, restored but now a completely new and baffeling problem I have never seen before; on my 32Gb iPhone 4, which I normally have 1.2GB of free space, it now says I am 14GB OVER capacity, even though it deleted ALL of my Music, Videos and Photos! WTF!!! it is showing 14GB of other but again, deleted everything on my iPhone except the 10GB of apps. Does anyone have any idea why this is and how to fix it? I'm afraid to update my iPad 2 now.

The really messed up thing is, I was supposed to be moving today; supposed to be on the road on a 965 mile trek to my new place and I was really depending on having a working iPhone.
