I just cancelled my order for the Ultra and placed my order for the original. I don't need drop protection and if I did, I would use a case over a skin. I was told that the front and sides are glossy and only the back is matte.

Any interest in the bumper Steve?

I'm going to head to the store and take a look at how the bumper looks/feels before making a purchase.

Leaning towards just the Wrapsol original right now...

I dont know about the bumper. I'll have to put it on my phone and see how I like it first. I'll end up getting a case eventually but I want something that will slip on and off easily and will fit with the Wrapsol on. I rarely use a case, but sometimes I'll put it on if I know its going to be raining or I'm going to be in other high-risk areas. I'll probably wait a while for some new cases to come out before purchasing one.

I really want to get the wrapsol, but I am worried about the front skin it has a slit above the ear speaker:

I'm planning on getting a black iPhone 4 that doesn't have that grill like the white one. So I'm worried that the opening will look out of place on the black iPhone 4.....

Uh, the black phone has the same grill, you just can't see it.

But what's the need in cutting a hole for the "eye" to see through if the film is clear?

Just seems like it'll trap dust/dirt?

exactly why i chose to pass on this one...it will just get dirt/lint/stuck it in

I guess we will find out when they arrive. If the white one has a visibile vent cutout and the black one doesn't, I would think Wrapsol would ship 2 front's in the package containing both kinds. I purchased one anyways and all I really care about having is the matte back. If the front sucks then I'll just get a different front.

You do know that the glass is not actually cutout right? The sensor cover is UNDERNEATH the glass that is cut out. The glass is still solid completely overlay'ed on top like all iPhones.

No I didn't know that. I thought the glass was cut out on the white ones. Either way, I ordered this skin for the back so I could care less about the front one.

My only worry is the the back matte texture is pretty rough. It's not like an AG screen protector but looks like it has texture closer to a couple hundred-grit sandpaper. What's your opinion?

The texture is smooth. It just looks like it has little indentations all over it but it doesn't really have that.

I still don't understand the need to cut out the opening for the proximity sensor when the skin itself if optically clear for the ultra, and coming from a powersupport anti glare skin, the prox sensor still works.

I wonder how the matte film will look on the new glass back. It looked great on the 3G/S's plastic, but might not be as nice on glass.

Agreed. I would think that the gloss would imitate the shine of the glass nicely.

I really can't decide between the regular and ultra...

I am not sure about the matte finish on the original, although I really like things matte. (currently have a AG film on my iphone, and a matte MBP)

I am also not sure about the dry application of the ultra, it says that it is repositionable, which I do not want, because it seems like it would probably peel more easily than the wet application (I have done quite a few wet applications of BSE, fullbodyskins, etc.. so they don't scare me too much).

I just can't decide what is best! Help!

Yeah I'm wondering the same thing. I don't understand why they did that. I'm kind of afraid to buy it in case they decide to redesign the skin later on without the that hole.

Actually, there's no "grill" on the black because it's not needed because it's black. ;) However, I still think that hole is necessary. I don't know why people are complaining, it should make our experience better than other skins because it doesn't cover up what we need like others do. :D

Really? This makes or breaks your purchase?

I called and talked to them on the phone, and they told me that the diagram is not the final design, and if the hole does not need to be there to retain function that it will not be cut out. I do not know how accurate this is, but it is what I was told.

So my guess is that they are not going to receive an iPhone until the 24th just like we do. After that they will design the skin, make them, and then ship them out? Thats pretty deceiving and I will call and cancel my order if it doesn't ship on the 24th or 25th.

hmmm, interesting.

The lady who I spoke with on the phone from Wrapsol told me that it'll ship first come, first serve on the day the phone launches. They are in MA and told me there's a one day ship time to NY.

I hope this is the case, but from what the lady told Bootsie, it doesn't even seem like they have their final design down yet. Although I should know better then to believe in what a customer service rep says.

It doesn't really matter for me at this point, because I am waiting for the white iPhone anyway.

Does anyone know of a review or video that compares the regular to the ultra? And especially their durability, the ultra just seems like it would peel off...

Yeah it does make or break it for me I don't want an unnecessary hole because it will bother me and it will probably collect dust or what not. Zagg and other companies don't seem to have that hole. Guess we'll see what happens on the 24th.

Can someone explain the 'wet' application process? I'm pretty clumsy and I'm wondering if there's a chance that you will damage the phone by putting something wet on it. I preordered an iphone 4 today; it will be my first iphone :D
