Touch ID under the screen in Xphone 2018.

3D FaceUnlock on regular phone 2018 (whatever they end up calling it).

Then,
Touch ID will always be on the most expensive phone they sell.

Even if you make it sound legit, your totally wrong with this.
This is like wooden weels on high end cars because they can't get flat.

I just thought, what are the health risks of those thousands of dots pointing at your face so often? Cancer?

That said, any justification in offering both TouchID and FacialID on future devices? Is that overkill or spinnable into an "even more secure device?"

under display TouchID along with swiping display for FaceID seems... a bit weird/poor implementation of the two.. imo

I can't wait to see this phone at the store. If there is any!

I feel like this is all hype to make people go nuts. There could be a lot of reason behind the staggered launch.

You should have waited until the technology was ready and hold back the X until 2018 and only released the 8 and next year only released the X. Too late now, the cat is out of the bag.

So they're gonna take Touch ID from their cheapest model (SE) and make it a premium feature?

Touch ID is currently on the most premium iPads and Macbooks as well as one of the "flagship" iPhones (8). I am guessing it will continue to be present in those products for a few years. I doubt Apple will add FaceID to the iPad.

just want to thank everyone that purchases the X for participating in the largest product beta test since gmail rolled out a decade ago. your sacrifice will not be ignored, until gen2 comes out in 12-14 months and is vastly improved.

Romeo and Juliet killed themselves, not sure if naming components dying so tragically is a good idea :p

On a serious note, this makes more sense, I was a tad critical on Cook (being a supply chain guru) on the delay, but I can see this being somewhat out of his hands. I still wonder why they waited until mere weeks to start making the phones in the first place, but that's just me. I'm sure there were other constraints preventing an earlier start.

The firmware leaked listed iPad and even ipod touch with upcoming face id so those are likely upcoming.

It moved you to the Note 8?

Well, that settles it. Someone call Tim Cook. One customer left. No wait, thousands left. No wait, millions left. What are Apple's profit margins again? Oh yeah, they are the richest company on earth, on schedule to be the first company worth a trillion dollars and they make billion in profit every single year.

As for Tim Cook, donating money to help people isn't being a social justice warrior, it's being a good American. Further, caring for your fellow man isn't a sign of weakness it's a sign of strength. No one will miss you as a customer and I bet if you died no one would miss you on this planet. People like you make the world worse. Your lack of respect for someone who cares about others is evident in your moronic statement and frankly you will not be missed.

If you hate Apple though, I hope you hate Microsoft too. Bill Gates helped pay for my college education. He's spent billions on making the world better through his charitable foundation.

Go ahead, don't use Apple or Microsoft products. Go ahead and use Linux. See if we care.

Bye Felicia.
Hahaa dang, tell him how you really feel! I love it.

Eh, I think touch ID is fine personally, this was unnecessary. It also brought the notch.

did it? i don't think there are other phones with front facing camera that have the screen encapsulating the camera.
for example, samsung S8 has a bezel up there iirc.. Apple added more screen around the camera area whereas samsung just went straight across.. the notch would likely be there with or without faceID.

or, the notch isn't imposing upon the screen area (if comparing to other phones at least)... the notch is formed by additional ears of screen..

----
would you rather Apple just went straight across up top and left a bit of bezel ala the S8? or should they have gone edge-to-edge and eliminate front facing camera ?

With these delays iPhone X seems more like a 2018 Launch than 2017

Totally agree. If they can't make enough iPhoneX's, people can't buy them. Only the "lucky" ones will manage to get their hands on 1 for the first weeks.

I can only imagine someone buying an iPhoneX in November 3rd and saying "ships in 8 weeks" LOL right in time for Xmas!!!

Only if they get it to work under the display.

You mean when Samsung can get it to work underneath their displays they sell Apple. So far Samsung has been unable to do this, which is why the Galaxy S8s have a fingerprint sensor on the back, in addition to facial and iris unlocks.
