Okay, I just got back from a tiring day, and I think it's time to call time.

Since this is a second draw, I won't go for the old 'first-to-the-gate-dies' rule, nor will I do the trusty 'let-random.org-decide' route.

Instead, Meister and anjinha we're going to play a little game. Both of you will PM me "1" or "2". Just those numbers, nothing else.

If the numbers add up to an odd number, anjinha dies. If they add up to an even number, Meister dies.

You guys have four hours (until 9:15 PM EST, to be exact).

That is true.

However, they have both participated, and spoken up, whereas others have remained next to silent. Moreover, the change in everyone's routine that is usually engendered by week ends is well and truly over. This is Monday evening.

I have seen too many outings in this world where the vocal were punished, and targeted, (and killed) while the guilty were taciturn, and almost invariably virtually silent.

So, for now, I'll not change my vote, and I apologise in advance if I am shown to be wrong.

I don't think it's a fair assumption to assume that people are being quiet because they're trying to fly under the radar, since people have real life commitments. Maybe I haven't spoken up as much as Meister but other people have been even less present than me.

If we choose different numbers I die.

I mean, I love my odds but it doesn't really seem fair.

Is it permissible to articulate a quibble, or concern, at the fact that after an assumed further tie, that is, a tie after the initial tie is to be decided entirely at the discretion, or rather, whim, of the GG?

Why then seek to ensure that an individual reaches a total first?

A ruling - or at the very least - an explanation - for why there appears to be such a cavalier interpretation of how ties are resolved would appear to be in order?

Yes, it has been agreed in the beginning that a second draw would be worked out upon an occurrence. AKA be worked out at my whim. I never had any intention of letting a draw continue beyond one overtime round -- that would just drag the game out, and we all know that's no fun.

Personally, I hate the first-to-the-gate rule. That was what I was trying to eradicate with the overtime rule. And this one. Just trying to make it a bit more interactive and less 'race'.

True.

And true, too, about the demands made by people's real life lives. However, there has been a tendency of those who are WWs to coast under the radar, and - if possible - I'll try to challenge that.

I accept your point about not being the only person who was relatively silent. Howver, on Saturday, when I revisited the first page to remind myself of who was participating, some of the names surprised me, as I had almost forgotten that they were supposed to be around.

I just decided to pick yours, to see what would happen; I could have picked two or three others, instead, using the same logic, I admit.

Hm.

Now, that is a food for thought.

Actually, I was so irked (and election rules are a speciality of mine) that I failed to study the rules themselves, rather than their arbitrary imposition. (Administer slap on wrist: A hard slap on wrist).

Ravenvii - is that entirely fair, as anjinha (and full marks for making that post and contribution) has so succinctly pointed out?

If it is to be sudden death, why not devise something that allows both a fair crack at it?

If you went through what I did yesterday and today you'd be grumpy too. :p

;)

Grumpy I can handle; I am often grumpy myself. But do try to be fair, please.

Guess we have to deal with a grumpy god :D

aren't they all?
not a fan of the random-ish lynching, but i suppose it is his call.

ravenvii,
are all future occurences, should they occur, to be settled like this, or is it a wheel-of-fortune decision making process?

anjinha,
the odds are 50% each. how is not fair? (once you accept the random aspect)

1-1 --> I die
2-2 --> I die
1-2 --> U die
2-1 --> U die

50/50 chance.

It's fair. :)

First of all: I am open to admitting that it's unfair and scrap the idea in face of evidence. But before I do that... why is it unfair?

There is a 50% chance the number would be even:

1+1, 2+2

and 50% chance the number would be odd:

1+2, 2+1.

That seems fair to me.

EDIT: ninja'd.

If you are going to play a numbers game, play a fair one, one where the odds are fair for both. First to score 'golden goal' type of thing…..

Instead, I recommend something on the lines of give them both an odd and an even number (say, 1 and 4 for one, and 2 and 3 for the other) and set a target of PMs, (perhaps 4?) whereby they each must reach a count of ten, using their assigned numbers. And, perhaps, one might have been assigned a random minus number……

But, be fair. A handicapped competition is unfair.

Hey, that's a good idea! *laughs evilly*

Actually, nah, if this one works out, we stick with this approach the duration of the game.

Seriously, how is it handicapped?

Admittedly I am cranky because of the NFL's buffoonery, but can we just do this and not second guess and complain every step of the way?

Let ravenvii do it his way as GG and we'll discuss the rules after the game if there were things that worked/didn't work. He's doing his thang, let's let him do it. Thank you come again.
