So here I am calmly trying to resurrect the automated lynch processor and two people are making trouble by bolding things that aren't player names. I'm looking at you ScepticalScribe and you Don't Panic!

Seems like suspicious behavior to me, especially ScepticalScribe who was the first and tried to lynch the GG!

lol, sorry. you yanks and aussis with thatt am/pm nonsense ;)...always confusing me.

Should be 4 PM CEST (GMT +2), 3 PM BST (GMT +1) and 10 AM EST(GMT -6)

sorry for that.

CET was meant as EST (which is -6 to CEST). God even those sites get that wrong..
Strictly speaking EST is still wrong as that is Eastern Standard Time which is GMT -5, Eastern United States is currently in EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) which is GMT-4. Most people don't realize that you actually change time zone when the clocks change.

I'm not sure I would go with that chair :D.

Could be worse - the nails could be pointing outwards...

And I thought that I might be dazzled with a rendition of the Iron Throne from Game of Thrones, instead of which you guys offer me……..nails.

I am nothing if not predictable where chairs are concerned; comfortable, classy, elegant, ergonomic, and usually rather stylish and um, slightly on the expensive side. This one was made to order, and even my profligacy was persuaded to forego the option of a walnut veneer on the rear of the chair

Yes, I have been making a proper mess to trying to multi-quote posts. And, making an even bigger mess of trying to multi-quote posts with pictures. And, as for trying to multi-quote posts with pictures of chairs designed for masochists with a nail fetish…..

Anyway, thank you for the timely clarification.

Yes, I know (now). (That's why I wrote -6 CEST in the edit)

I won't post that GMT stuff anymore anyway since it makes the gg look bad and isn't important as well. Rather occupied at home atm so no real interest in spending too much time on it too.

I do hope the deadline is clear now though, updated the Night 1 OP as well. Sorry for the confusion!

My grateful thanks for another vote. Seems I am striking a note of rare popularity this evening….

Oh, did I mention that I am but a villager?

speaking of suspicious, let's discuss this new avatar of yours.....

Ideas welcome. You mean a future avatar, or the current incarnation of my current (outsized) coffee cup?

Mobilehaathi has very helpfully spent some time trying to come up with some ideas in an adjoining space…….but I am very open to suggestions as this is a field of endeavour that I am entirely lacking in any proficiency whatsoever….

I noted that your own had gone a fetching shade of circular black for a while earlier today

that was the 'new look' transforming my sophisticated, anti-war, time/space-bending masterpiece into a black dot. ;)
i considered keeping it as a sign of protest, but then opted for a minimalist variant that protest the new world order with a little square and some inanimated friendly advice. you know, square peg in round hole and all that..

in any case i was referring to FenrisMoonlight's new avatar. (you fell victim of "the mimetic quoted text", yet another fine implement of our new virtual planet) :D

meanwhile, i notice you keep voting for people who are not playing. a curious strategy that one. ;)

Actually, I thought you were referring to my avatar, given that I had floated the possibility of changing it, and mobilehaathi (the bolding was not intended as a vote, needless to say, just a highlighting which - of course - conveyed the wrong meaning here in this context) elsewhere, came up with a few very helpful thoughts, having suggested a few ideas where quills and ink bottles featured, which were exactly the lines along which my own mind was running…..

Anyway, I must peruse the list of names; especially the list of bolded names. And note who is doing what, not least who is voting for whom…..

I will say that this new format will take some getting used to, and some further mastering
.the multi-quote has given rise to some especial challenges.

Argghhh! You did it again and you expect me to believe your innocent?!

I think some avatars were a victim of the forum changes.

It fits nicely in the new circular avatars we have. It's the same icon I've used on my laptop login for years.

Very curious.

I must thank DP for drawing my attention to Fenris Moonlight's splendid (if somewhat uncomfortable and discommoding) avatar; I hadn't even noticed it.

Actually, I'll just put that down to the new forum changes; I am not remotely used to this stuff yet.

Yes, alas.

Well, there is a school of thought which argues that we need visible 'wolks', whose demeanour screams 'acting suspiciously'.

But, that is what the 'special powers' are for, to a certain extent; that, and putting pressure on individuals, hoping that they will slip up, or offer an inadequate defence, or fail to scurry away in time.

Much of being a successful 'wolk' is staying under the radar for the first two days; two lynchings, and two kills and the odds become much more favourable.

Meanwhile, the specials - especially the Core specials - have a responsibility to use their powers intelligently, as - it is also probable - that, once identified, or at least considered as someone who may be a possible special, it is also likely that they may not survive terribly long.

Every time you say that a shiver runs up my spine. *shivers*

in re the rest of your post: Specials need to be informing the village of what they come up. You can't scan Don't Panic and he's a wolk[sic] (*shivers*), for example - sorry, I had to pick on someone :p - and then waffling around possibly almost suggesting the vague circumstance that maybe he's not what he might not otherwise pretend he isn't not supposed to be doesn't help the village. If you scan someone and he's a wolk (*shivers!*) tell us, take your chances, and even if you get et the next night/day/whatever we have this game then at least we've got one less canine to deal with.

EDIT: btw I may not be around much tomorrow; The family's all home for a doctor appointment thing.

Oh, I agree entirely that Specials need to inform the Village/World of what they come up with. On the first day or so, that information is fairly thin on the ground, so it is a case of flying blind.

Re DP, it is not a case of 'waffling'; it is just that it strikes me as being exceedingly foolish to lynch him on the first day, as - when he is not a 'wolk' (and I thought that a hilarious misprint, the sort that yes, does indeed send shivers thrilling down spinal pathways) - he is an invaluable analyst and strategist.

Belated retribution for a previous game (and I had my suspicions there, and voiced them) are no excuse for a rash (and illogical) and precipitate action now. My suggestion is not to kill DP 'tonight', but to wait and see for a day or two.

Meanwhile, let the Seer scan him, or something of that sort after we have recovered from our first - probably self-inflicted and ineffectual - blood bath.

I'm going to vote for *looks at list, looks at colour of underwear, looks at star chart, looks at list of names again* FenrisMoonlight

If you want to get fancy, you can have the program first scrape the names of the players off the first post, then search only for the players' names bolded.

(Misspellers can go eat crow for all we care! :D )

The script has a list of player names in (along with common mis spellings), so things like dp for Don't panic work. Currently you have to set that up, along with the thread id and starting post for each day
but it would be really good to add something to obtain that list from the first post. It's written in perl.

I have the script working again with the new format forum. Here is the current voting list.
