Gosh.

I have been deluged by work commitments this past week, and left what I knew to have been the tremendously exciting conclusion of ravenvii's excellent game, and the tentative beginnings of a discussion to set up something fresh. I return, not quite two days later, to find an energetic thread busily putting the final touches to a fresh game.

Thanks for the invitation. If there is still room, I would like to be considered for inclusion among your august ranks, though I can't guarantee tremendously active participation on my part as I really am completely snowed under re work. If no available places remain, so be it. I'll sit this one out, and return to the fray subsequently.

Thanks for including me, despite my tardy response. And, my thanks, too for taking on the challenge/burden of narration, monitoring and steering the whole enterprise - not an east task, and exceedingly time-consuming, I imagine.

While it is several years since I have read the Game of Throne books, going by the stunning (epic, indeed) earlier outing heroically run by ravenvii, I expect that this should prove to be another epic thriller.

Roles have been sent out. If you did not receive a PM (8 of you), then you are a normal peasant/villager. You can PM me or post in the thread with any role questions. We'll get kicked off sometime tomorrow, 10/4.

Damn. 20 players in a day.

Not sure if I should feel slighted or not. :p

Was on the iPhone. So shaddap. :)

No, your superb game - and the last few 'days' just before the end were really gripping - reminded people of what fun these outings can be when done - and run - properly.

:)

ravenvii, if it weren't for your brilliantly scripted game, there wouldn't even be one now to begin with. Let alone people from all over the world joining forces against The Loyal Family.

Swords to Plowshares!

My sentiments exactly.

Re-reading the first post on the first page, I must say that I am pleased that the infection is not in play in this incarnation of the WW universe (as was also the case when ravenvii was GG). Indeed, sometimes, there can be few more dispiriting messages to receive than the one which informs you that you have been singled out to join the ranks of infamy..........

Yes, it is enthusiasm for that game which drove adoption for this game so well. We were able to retain every player and the GG. It's obvious everyone enjoyed it. The other additions are ghosts from WW games past, resurrected by my PMs inviting them back into this realm.

Yes, this is true. Everyone did enjoy it and proceeded to get really involved.

Besides, it is nice to see a mixture of new and old 'faces' (avatars?). Best of all is the fact that one then does not know everyone equally well, - as some individuals are completely unknown be they new, or those who have returned from the distant past - whereas one can develop some idea of how some people will react based on experience garnered over many games.

a quick question: are the red man saves automatic or does he have to specify the save?
is the master of whispers also saved by the red man?

The save is automatic provided he is alive and has been contacted (attempted kill) by the other traitors. It is a completely passive role from the reanimation perspective.

The Bought Man can be saved by The Red Man, but only after switching sides.

The MoW is not saved by The Red Man.

Re-reading the Original Post, and DP's question, asked above, begs another question about The Red Man. How many 'saves' does he actually have? Three? And, is he able to 'save' the same person more than once?

wait, so the saves can only occur after The Red Man has been contacted by the others?

another minor clarification: - when scanned by master of whisper, does the bought man register as the same (loyal helping the traitors) both before and after being turned?

No. A dead traitor is a dead traitor unless you have a sadistic Maester. The 'save' simply allows the killed traitor to live long enough to take a Loyal out before dieing for good.

Correct. And the saves are not retroactive. Only the traitors that die after he has been contacted can carry out the attacks. This creates a race by both sides to "kill" The Red Man. It also incentivizes The Red Man to try and be killed by the Traitors without making it obvious to the Loyals.

I will report the scan differently in words, but you'll know it's The Bought Man either way. That's in keeping with last game, unless I misunderstood something.

ok, thanks.
now this is purely thematic:
why "the dirk" and "the vulture"? i am not getting the reference

I plan to explain in the narratives. I thought some unique names were in keeping with the books, e.g. "The Mountain", "The Red Viper" etc.

(this means don't kill them early and force my hand :))

This strikes me as an extremely good idea; while some/many have watched the Game of Thrones TV series, I have not had the opportunity to see it, and it is two years since I raced through the books, (which I have not had the time to re-read since then), and so am more than a little hazy as to some of the details - especially details relating to more minor characters.

Thanks for the answers posted above.
