Also, don't forget all the rumor sites being sued recently. Silence seems to be golden right now.
Agreed. Could it be that Apple has finally locked down the source of previous rumors? Next week should be exciting. I'm also in the camp that something blockbuster regarding Hi-Def is on the horizon and will be announced at WWDC ;)

Just my $0.02...

Just my $0.02 US... Best guesses and wish list rolled together...

1. iTunes 4.9/5.0 demo... Will prob. show off the updated iPod sw (if it isn't fake) at the same time...

2. If the iTunes demo is late enough in the keynote, perhaps a "One more thing..." An ARM (Intel chip) or Cell based Auidio/Video device, iVod perhaps? A Tivo made to work like a Mac, take advantage of metadata (see a show you've recorded or ripped or bought on the iVideo Store, say "Learn more" and be shown a selection of websites w/ more info on that topic, or documents/bookmarks on the Macs in your home relating to that topic..) WiMax or 802.11n based Bonjour streaming of video/auido to other Macs running 10.4.2 or newer.. If Cell based, ability to play PS 1 and PS2 (can't imagine Sony would allow PS3) games... Built-in Bluetooth for remote and game controlers... I won't hold my breath, but this would be great..

3. AirPort updates... AirTunes now enabled for any sound source on your Mac: iTunes, iTivo/iVod, QuickTime, iPhoto, etc... Airport updated to 802.11n. 802.11n included in all iMac G5s, PowerBooks and G5 PowerMacs starting end of month... Built-in support in all AirPort sw for WiMax with Intel cards, support for WiMax via AirPort sw will work in 10.3 or 10.4... Again, not holding my breath, just major on my wish list...

4. MacOS X 10.4 optimized for use in PowerMacs equipped with the Cell as a coprocessor... drool.. sigh..wish, wish, not holding breath...

5. Xgrid for use with PS3... network your Macs with PS3 and offload any Xgrid enabled task (Video rendering, etc) to the Cell...Would be great to be able to use a PS3 to speed-up encoding in iLife and/or DVD Studio...

6. Dual-core Freescale G4 based PowerBooks, upgradeable PCI Express Graphics, HD res display, 802.11n built-in...

7. MacOS X Server for Intel x64... Possible.. This would allow Apple to sell more "Unlimited" licenses of MacOS X (A real bargain compared to M$ price range), and sell more Support packages... This would have nothing to do with any move to Intel across the board, rather, take an opportunity to get potential switchers from NT which is seeing it's support from M$ dwindle... This would allow MacOS X on Intel without requiring any 3rd parties to rewrite their sw.. (Servers have 90% of what customers will use on them out of the box, or am I wrong?) Won't compete with MacOS X on Macs, due to the price of MacOS X Server (Hint, not $129.99, still a deal compared to Windows Server offerings though.) ... Perhaps only offered on IBM or HP systems?

Just my thoughts and my wish list rolled together... It's WWDC, not MacWorld.. far-out ideas (things we may not see shipped right away) are always possible... 10.5 ideas, etc...

Anyone know if this will be streamed live? Or perhaps later on in the week?

I can't remember what they did last year...

No, Apple has stopped streaming the Keynotes live. The official word is that it's due to the cost. I believe that the last live stream was MWSF 2004.

If they follow prior practice, they will release the Keynote via QuickTime later in the day.

I don't know if there is really a need for this though. Photoshop is a damn fine app, and I think lots of people are quite content with it and not screaming out for an Apple alternative. Mind you, people can't know how good/bad something is unless they have an alternative to compare it to... ; )
while photoshop is a powerful, indispensable tool for pros, it has become bloated in recent years. and it's fairly expensive. given core image and other imaging tech built into tiger, apple or another developer could write a stripped down and streamlined version of photoshop for relatively small development costs. something in between iphoto's editing features and photoshop. for $79. i think it'd sell.

That's a fair point - "bloated" and "expensive" are also words used to describe Office, and Apple is doing something about that slowly but surely with iWork, so perhaps something similar for Photoshop is in the works - an Apple application like Elements then?

Not likely.. but possible..

The PowerMacs were just upgraded. Apple would be shooting itself on the knees (which wouldn't feel too nice, would it?!) if they released new models already. Go ahead and buy that beast if you need it!

Also, I bought my 2x1.8 last summer and I don't feel any need for a faster one.. Oh well, sometimes rendering video could be a bit faster ;)

I could see them adding 802.11n and faster ATI cards to the PowerMacs this soon... If 802.11n equipment is announced, I think Apple will want to roll it out asap.. as far as faster ATI cards... I give Apple credit for listening to allot of us mitch and bone in the past and fix things asap.. so I hold out hope that they do this before I start ordering my PowerMac... Would love the X800 based card as a BTO option... doubt they'd change the standard equipment though. Just add the additional BTO option.

I also think we could *possibly* see either cards using the Cell as a co-processor, or Xgrid support to connect to PS3.... I can't see the Cell replacing the PPC970, 970FX, 970MP, etc.. just not what it's designed for... But the Cell as a co-processor, or Xgrid support, would be useful for HD Video content creation.... Think about plugging an iMac G5 into a PS3 and being able to run DVD Studio faster... on the other hand, maybe we won't see that... lol, may prefer you use Xgrid and a 2nd iMac, lol.

Yes!

What to call it? Xphoto? DarkRoom? (probably already taken) Photo Express and Photo Studio Pro? (a la Final Cut)

I'm wishing more than predicting...

How about "iPhotoshop"? I don't think Apple would get sued over that... Hell, if someone isn't getting sued over that whole PC Mini thing... ;)

This is a bit off-topic, but, I totally agree, Adobe has dropped the ball with Photoshop and especially Illustrator over the past few years. They come out this with these expensive updates and all you usually get are a whole bunch of new bugs and some stupid feature you'll never even use anyway. Ever since Adobe started catering to the Windows market, they've gone downhill.

Yeah, wasn't it weird how MacSurfer.com (which is normally excellent) had prominent "news" links to MacObserver.com "stories" (ads, really) for WWDC? I wonder if MacSurfer.com got a cut of the ad fees.

Macminute is DEFINITELY being paid off right now. :(

Yeah, that and the iPod Shuffle clone thing.

Where are the lawyers?

HD additions

From the many sites dealing in rumors and hearsay, I have concluded that the the following is quite possible:

OUT - Single G5 powermac

IN - Quad Powermac (2 x dual core)

The single G5 has been abandoned (or EOL'ed) by Apple, its got lower specs than an iMac and doesn't sit right with the current lineup - 80gb HD, 8x superdrive, although it does still have a modem & 9600XT (just old stock I guess). This will see price drops on the current Dual Powermacs without any changes as they were recently updated, so the Dual 2.0 is the price of the current Single 1.8. This allows something at the top end with a HD Cinema Display, which will meet the following conditions:

Year of HD, keep developers busy with dual core technologies, Chud tools reporting 2 x 2 core processors, recent display price drops allows a bigger display at the top end.

I think though that ibook & ipod updates will be filtered out to the public between July & August to keep interest up. Dual processor (not G5) powerbooks in September.

The current line of powerbooks is the least upgradeable ever. Unlike all previews generations it does not feature an internal airport slot, meaning that the card is probably directly soldered on the motherboard and therefore it cannot be replaced with an 802.11n. They could make one for all the other powerbooks and ibooks though but i wouldn't bet on it...

What rumor sites have YOU been reading? Cause as far as I can see they're not saying zip. Which is crazy, considering all the rumors we had pre-April 1st. Maybe apple are holding hostages? Editors' computers, etc?

I doubt it, but I heard that they might begin to produce a new portable music device....almost like a walkman... :p

Did you even read what I Quoted   :(

The person said "there has not really been a big rumors this year"

And I said "Mac mini   "

I am going to go and buy a new 20inch iMac on Saturday, I know this is the worst time to buy a new Apple product...two days before the keynote. But hopefully nothing will be updated on the iMac line.

I think its 99.99% safe to say that the iMac line won't be touched with the recent updates. I've got two work colleugues orderign Mac's this week, one of who is definately ordering the 20-incher who I've told to order whenever they want, and one torn between a Powerbook and an imac, who I've told to wait until the WWDC keynote is over.

So purchase worry-free!

I figured it would be a worry free purchase, but there is always that little bit of doubt in the back of your mind.

About the sue part of this, I believe Apple is getting ready to do just that as far as the PC Mini thing is concerned, it's in the news already.
