Well, it depends on where you work. It's not like you don't know it going into it. Also, we generally tip way more here than in other countries where the waiters are paid more.
A friend of mine who was a waitress pulled in about $150 a night for about 3-5 hours of work. By comparison it takes me about 14 hours to make that amount at $10.50/hr.
