People don't code on iPhone, they code on the desktop/laptops, and they use XCode which is only on the Mac. This is WWDC, Developer conference and such there should be information about the actual Mac development platform, Macintosh OS.

Umm.... there are currently dozens and dozens of Mac dev sessions announced for WWDC:

http://developer.apple.com/wwdc/sessions/#focus=iphone,it&type=lab

If it's like past years, more sessions will be announced as the week progresses.

Edit: and that's not counting the labs!

I've been watching the keynotes online for years. And I'm now living in the East Bay area. Is there any reason for me to swing by the Mascone Center?

I'm not a developer and have no ticket. Anyone think I'd get to see anything worth a quick trip and couple bucks train fare?

It's expensive to attend - close to $1,000 iirc - and sold out.

Security won't let you into Moscone without a ticket/badge.

You could peer through the glass at all the developers though!
....If you think that sounds like fun. :D

You'd see a closed door. Without a conference registration you would not get past security.

Damn. Feels terrible being so close to the action but still waiting for the news online. Thanks for saving me the trip though.

Dude, we're talking about the keynote that's open to the world. Those private sessions are closed to developers.

The Keynote? Pffft. That's 90 minutes out of 4 days!

The Keynote only exists to bump the share price! lol. It's the "for the press" part of WWDC.

The actual content - i.e. the reason WWDC exists - is the sessions/labs/networking.

It is not open to the world. It's part of what you pay for.

It'll be open to the world once Apple releases the video of it. The media are allowed in there for a reason, they close the room to paid visitors and the media to make sure people are getting some value of the expensive tickets.

Duh. That's the part we're ALL talking about. People want some of that 90 minute to be about Snow Leopard instead all of it for iPhone.

What don't you understand precisely?

It seems like we're on two different page.

The iPhone is like the new kid who enrolls in your school and rockets to popularity so fast he steals all your former friends. You can't help but like the guy. He's a charmer. But you're jealous of him. Lots of flash and little substance.

The Mac is where my heart's at. Hoping Snow Leopard gets a big push. I'd also love to see Snow Leopard's interface reflect the beautiful look of the iPhone gui.

Dude, I'm sure SL will get a mention during the Keynote.

I'm just trying to point out that there is much more to WWDC than the Keynote! If you attend WWDC the Keynote is a very very small part of things.

Well....right. But the original question was whether or not someone could schlep down to the Moscone Center and attend. No one is saying there won't be a video of it afterwards; in fact, it usually comes out later that day.

Yes I know, everybody knows what WWDC is used for but the most popular single reason that people care about WWDC is precisely the keynote.

You started this saying that you don't understand "why some people can't see the huge appeal and future of the iPhone platform. " People here are making a huge assumption that since the Moscone West is covered with iPhone banners all over the place, the keynote is primary going to be about iPhone. That's the reason people are complaining about in this topic, they are not complaining that the iPhone shouldn't be talked about at the WWDC, they are just specifically targetting the keynote.

I can see what you were talking about, maybe we didn't understand each other clearly when you were probably talking about the general WWDC and and I was just trying to talk about the specific keynote.

Well....right. But the original question was whether or not someone could schlep down to the Moscone Center and attend. No one is saying there won't be a video of it afterwards; in fact, it usually comes out later that day.

You got mixed up with two different stream of conversation that actually had a common topic in it. I wasn't really referring to the original question, I was talking to badManErr about why people are complaining about the iPhone's all over WWDC and their assumption that the keynote was all about the iPhone and nothing about Snow Leopard.

I'm guessing it will get a mention during the keynote but that's about it. The real stuff on SL will be seen during the Mac Leopard State Of The Union.

Something that only the attendees will see this year. Even the schedules are for registered developers this year. Normally they are posted on the Dev. website. This year you have to log-in.

"WWDC E-ticket holders can log in to the Attendee Site using their Apple ID and password. With the exception of the WWDC 2009 Keynote, all information presented or provided to you by Apple during WWDC 2009, including the information on the Attendee Site, is considered Confidential Information"

Apple probably doesn't want to reveal any secrets in those sessions and other unpublished sessions, by logging in, you are agreeing to an NDA.

Well Apple has a major problem on the horizon and that's Windows 7. I've been using it for about a month now in Bootcamp and it makes OS X look sick (in fact I'm posting this using it now with Firefox). It is fast, reliable, easy to use and works great. If Apple doesn't come out with Snow Leopard soon and if it isn't competitive with OS X in features and appearance, they've lost all the advantage they had over Vista. I also think the iPhone is last year's product, it's about run its gamut IMO. Making a big deal over cut and paste and even an improved camera is rather sad IMO. They need to come out with something big. If no new Mac hardware and if Snow Leopard is a disappointment (the features I've seen so far seem really boring) then Apple is going to be in for a hard time this Christmas with Win 7 selling like hotcakes. Whatever happened to the innovative Apple of a few years ago?

Windows 7 = fail.

there is only 2 things windows 7 will do right.....maybe. And that is DX11 and NOT being vista. :D

Here's what you said and what I responded to:

Seems to me you're talking about the keynote and who has/has not got access there.

But whatever.

You started this saying that you don't understand "why some people can't see the huge appeal and future of the iPhone platform. "

You've got me confused with somebody else. I didn't say that.

Yes, I was talking about WWDC (as a whole) and you were talking about the Keynote. No harm done.

Be happy in your delusions....

You should install Windows 7 - you might come to the conclusion that "innovation" has moved from Cupertino to Redmond.

And definitely try Windows 7 on a multi-touch capable system. Multi-touch on Win7 changes the game....
