I'm tired of the iPhone as well. The Macintosh is the heart of Apple and it's business and I'm damn sick and tired of their little toy gadgets getting center stage over the Macintosh. There's so much that Apple has neglected in terms of the Mac. Even the Get a Mac ads say nothing about features of Mac OS X but the iPhone and iPod Touch ads fully demonstrate the features of the iPhone. I'm glad I don't have an iPhone and don't plan on getting one anytime soon. I hate to say this but Apple almost WANTS you to switch back to Windows the way they neglect the Macintosh platform. :(

WHOA! Big news! I was just browsing apple.com and I ran across a page where they sell computers. I'm not making this up. Seriously! Holy crow! Did anyone know about this?! Is it some kind of accidental pre-WWDC leak?

Anyway, not sure how a computer fits into the iPhone ecosystem (it sure would be a lot to lug around) but I'm all for new iPhone accessories. Bring 'em on, Apple.

There was once this notebook called the 12" powerbook.... A notebook to rule them all. I big gap in the corrent lineup.

Yeah I know, I loved that thing... Just wait until WWDC... maybe we have something coming our way. Although I think Apple wants us to believe that the new 13" MacBooks are it's replacement.

Ams.

I don't disagree with anything you've written, but it has that air of self-fulfilling prophecy to it. What's the cause and what's the effect, so to speak? If Apple (or any company, for that matter) views the computer as a dinosaur and focuses its energies and ideas on another product type, then the innovation in the computer realm is going to fall off, and consumers and developers will be less interested. That, in turn, looks like good justification to shift focus to mobile devices.

That's true, there is that aspect to it. But even when they were focussing solely on the computer the innovation was gradual.

I grew up in the 80s surrounded by movies of AI and virtual reality so in my mind the potential of the desktop computer was limitless. So it still frustrates me to see Apple focussing on silly little phone.

However after so many years, I am starting to think the computer will never be more than a machine for people to create documents on.

iphone nano is the surprise. So many people complaining there won't be one but there will be and that's the surprise.

Less than a week before the WWDC keynote, and TBO nothing to talk about....

- We know about the new iPhone and iPhone OS 3.0.
- We know about Snow Leopard.

The only stuff left to speculation is what Apple has "left out" of the latest Developer Build of 10.6 (10a354), and which iPhone 3 "features" have not yet been revealed.

I am hoping for the more "usual and expected" stuff: new displays, nVidia with the GTX 285, >1 TB HD's BTO in Mac Pro and Xserve, etc.

There are other builds out there.;)

I agree, the potential of the desktop computer is higher.

I disagree. You can't carry desktops around in your pocket, and the most useful device is the one you have with you. Unless, of course, your phone was a full blown desktop when plugged in to a monitor - which is what is going to happen.

Edit: in a few years.

There has been a couple of times that info about internal builds were leaked back when that other site. I forgot who it was. They were sued and had to close shop.

Thinksecret?
Ah, but info only was leaked..... not screenshots, or, even worse.... the builds themselves.

Where?

Adam Jackson has posted the first photos (flickr) from WWDC 2009. Apple has started putting up banners 6 days prior to the event. The theme of this year's WWDC appears centered around the App Store. The main banner in Moscone West reads:The phrase refers to the iTunes App Store that was launched (less than) one year ago, but has seen major success with over 1 billion apps downloaded in the first nine months. The iPhone will clearly take center stage at WWDC with discussion about the upcoming 3.0 Firmware release as well as possibility that Apple will announce a new iPhone.

WWDC 2009 kicks off on June 8th with a keynote address to be given by Phil Schiller.

Does anyone know where i can watch it?

So you're saying it all hinges on mobility. Therefore, you would say that laptops, which are mobile as well, have no more potential or power than a phone?

It won't be broadcast live, but several sites will do text updates live. There will usually be a front page article with some of the most notable ones, but MacRumors also has done live reporting of their own in past years, so I usually plan to just come here for coverage. The video of the keynote will be up a few hours to a few days later (usually in the 8-10 hours later range I believe).

I've added 13 more photos. I'll keep taking photos as they add more elements to the banners. I'm across the street so checking any "super secret shrouded banners" should be easy.

Mac vs iPhone

I dont understand why some people can't see the huge appeal and future of the iPhone platform. desktop computers are stagnating. Of course for some uses, Video editing comes to mind, workstations are still the best choice. But for the same reason mac laptop sales far outpace the desktop sales the iPhone is headed that way. You guys need to prepare for most of the future inovation in the Mac landscape to be hinged around the iPhone or mobile OSX platform.

This is all my opinion, but I just get frustrated at all the iPhone hate. If you don't care about the iPhone don't bother clicking on threads that deal with the iPhone, and when a general thread like this one evolves to a discussion on the iPhone feel free to hit the back button and check out a new thread.

But the banner doesn't make any sense. A year is a unit of time, a light year is a unit of distance. So, if one year later Apple is light years ahead, does that mean Apple discovered faster-than-light travel? That would be awesome.

They might be a few light years ahead last year. And if they are going at very fast speeds, it would appear to us that their time is slower than our time, due to special relativity. Maybe that's why the wait until WWDC seems really really long...:D

The iPhone is good for web browsing, email, and small games. Many people do only that on a computer, but some people have to get work done and that requires something with a much larger screen.

Personally I like all the iPhone news as I'll be getting one when it comes out for my clinical rotations for medical school. The benefit of a mobile device like this is access to information that is mobile.

It's a frackin figure of speech. Anybody ever hear of that concept ?

It's been a year since the App store was introduced and Apple is still way ahead of the competition. Is that to hard to understand ?

I guess some people here are super literal.
