"Apple unveils new iPhone as rival launches the Pre
Technology group reveals its latest model just as Palm's challenger hits the shops in the US"

I think somebody at the Guardian has jumped the gun slighty...:D or maybe they know something we dont...?

"Such concerns did not stop consumers in the US queuing up to buy the phone on Saturday, however, with shops around the country entertaining small groups of dedicated fans desperate to get their hands on the new Palm device."

Maybe im missing something.. but can any of you see "dedicated fans desperate to get their hands on the new palm"...?

This is priceless....Love it!!

Just had a thought about the introduction of the new iPhone with Video chat. (If this has been mentioned before - I apologize, I haven't caught up with all the posts)

I can imagine Phil introducing the video feature, talking it up, then getting a video call from Steve!

Showing Phil can pull off a great product intro, and giving a glimpse of a recovered Steve utilizing the latest insanely great technology!

Just a thought.

There's no video chat coming. The tech just isn't there. The phone just captures, apparently lightly edits, and sends video.

Those of you hoping for video chatting are going to be left disappointed.

Usually I'm game to wade through all the posts but this morning is rather busy so forgive me if this has been posted before...

Assuming a new iPhone is debuted today during the keynote, in the last couple of weeks there has been some speculation that new customers might be further lured into buying an iPhone with contract price reductions from AT&T. Anyone have any insight into when this might transpire e.g. an AT&T announcement today, by end of month or vaguely sometime this summer?

With my aging crackberry (7100) nearing the 5 year mark and barely able to hold a charge more than a day, I've been waiting for a sweet spot to buy my first iPhone. I'll take the plunge with this revision but I can wait a few more days / weeks for contract price reductions. Heck, a $10/mo price cut over 2 years will virutally pay for the cost of the phone ;)

The Mighty Mouse scrollball is a horrible design. Mine hasn't worked for months. IMO, the Intellimouse is one of the things that M$ got right.

I agree . I wish they had seperate buttons for the mouse. I have to remap keyboard controls especially when I have to right click and left click to fire.

A monthly scrub with a damp lint free cloth keeps mine rocking, but yes, its a ***** design, especially for something I paid £50 for.

Snow leopards most secretest feature. touch screen compatibility! apple cant afford to let windows 7 dominate the tablet market. touch screens and gestures are obviously the next big thing since sliced bread. one more thing, does anyone else think it's strange that time machine is turned on by a slider like the iPhone? food for thought.

This new banner at WWDC09 might be evidence that Steve Jobs will be seen on the new iPhone.

Could be, but the real trick is figuring out HOW to use touch screen on a desktop. Apple might choose to simply say no. They said no to the iAppliances when eveyone thought this would become our future. Steve Jobs said more than once that he is even more proud of the products Apple decided NOT to release, than he are of the ones they released, because it showed where they were right in thinking (once again) where the whole world was wrong.

But it will depend of if they can figure out how the user would actually use touch screen, putting your fingers on your desktop display is going to hurt your muscles really quick ;)

I joined the uprising !

Given the chaos of the simultaneous launch of new phone & OS last time, they might well stagger the release of 3.0 and any new handset this time round.

Agreed. Been using the MS mouse since about 30 days after buying each Mac. We originally had four Mighty Mouses and two of them got thrown against the wall. :)

David versus Goliath

I'm surprised that this news isn't reported here. It's funny as BEEP (in your face Apple).

And taken down like this:

This ad RIP has got to be a very very expensive one for Apple – Jon's ad must have hit some Apple folks in the face hihi

Ah but it is here. Oops, I just missed it.

Dont care about the new iphone hardware my 3g is perfectly fine. Dont care for new laptops will always be overpriced. But got dammit apple do something awesome with mobileme. Release a mobileme iphone app so that we can all access our entire photos and documents. Would be awesome if they included a cloud itunes experience. MAKE ME PROUD PLEASE...

LOL. Exactly. While it would be cool ape doesn't stream tv guky flash let alone peer to peer. It will be some consumer video sharing camping trip with moon background. Paid fir of course. LOL. To take away heat of no xvid, MPEG, flash codecs. iPhoneS for share in Imovie.

I'd feel so bad for the people who just bought their first iPhone within the last week.

Couple of people here at work did that with their corporate discount! Mentioned the new iPhone was imminent, they shrugged and said it didn't matter.

Sometimes fail to understand that not everyone is an Apple geek excitedly reading forums and threads for the tiniest snippet of info!
