"One more thing"... and Jobs walks on stage. Can you imagine the reaction to that. It'd be like fangirls at an anime convention when the main character's voice actor appears.
Not very likely though...

my scroll ball is boogered.

That's what you get for using it just after picking your nose. :)

Switched to a Logitech mouse and never looked back. Spin the scroll wheel fast enough (customisable) and it freewheels. Wheeee!

There's no video chat coming. The tech just isn't there. The phone just captures, apparently lightly edits, and sends video.

Those of you hoping for video chatting are going to be left disappointed.

The tech is defently there (in most countries)

Video chat mobile phones have been around for ages in many countries ..

first of all some people just think within the boardes of the US .. anyway video chat phones are huge in some areas of the world .. I live in one of them ..

for places where Video chat wont work on 3G , WiFi would do it ..

and remember EVERY WWDC have only released ONE product and some software ..

I beet a buck on that we will se

- Snow Leopard DEMO
- Introduction of iPhone V3/Video /3GS whatever ..
- Introduction of iChat for Windows (Quicktime, Safari and iTunes is already avaible on the Windows platforms so why not iChat)

University of Arizona Students Need WWDC Tickets, here in San Fran!!!

Hi,

My name is Tom Smallwood. Myself and another student are here representing the University of Arizona. We are searching for someone who would be willing to donate a couple of tickets to us for wwdc. We are computer science students who are obsessed with iphone development. We are here in San Francisco and love the scenery but, would much rather be inside developing.

If you have any extra tickets please PM me. I will be indebted to you for the rest of my life!

I'm pretty stoked :D Going to order my Veggie Jimmy Johns sub at 11:30 so it's here by the start of it!

Finally, there had been some rumors about the possibility of notebook updates at WWDC back in April. These small updates could incorporate 3G into some of the laptops, or lower the price to stimulate sales. There has also been talk of rebranding all aluminum notebooks under the "MacBook Pro" moniker.

This sort of talk, however, has died down in the days leading up to WWDC and it would be strange for Apple to devote much time to their laptop line at their development conference. If these changes are to take place, it seems likely they would be "quiet" updates or perhaps occur a few weeks after WWDC, itself.

Sounds familiar from a story ran here called Steve Jobs on Track for a June Return to Coincide with a Media Event?

While there has been much speculation about whether Jobs will make an appearance at next week's Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple has continued to officially claim that he will not return until the end of the month. The Wall Street Journal's sources claim that, true to Jobs' style of showmanship, Apple is preparing for his return to coincide with a media event of some sort. Much of the buzz appears to be conjecture of the type that has swirled around Apple and Mr. Jobs for years. But two people who do business with Apple said senior Apple managers have told them the company is now trying to coordinate Mr. Jobs's return with a product launch or public event.

What time does the online apple store usually go down on event days such as today? I just checked a couple minutes ago, and it was still up.

Here's one opinion that Mac updates will be released after summer, perhaps around September / October

Thoughts about WWDC and Snow Leopard - an argument for a late summer or early fall 2009 Mac refresh

"it would allow Apple to first address the iPhone update, the Back To School promotion, and the iPod update cycle. Once these are out of the way Apple could roll out a comprehensive strategy to handle the wave of customers who will be upgrading to Snow Leopard and/or purchasing new Macs"

I appreciate it's a developers conference, but hope there is more to it than just iphone, appstore and bit of snow leopard..... I want new hardware to buy (that I don't need!) haven't heard anything about 20" or 30" LED Cinema displays, must be well past due!
Also if (as rumored) there could be a 'budget' iphone on PAYG - would not make the ipod touch redundant?
....was hoping the apple store would have been 'off-line' by now!!

Still....can't wait!!

That would actually be fantastic, my scroll ball is boogered. Hopefully some kind of multi-touch surface mouse.

Flip it upside down and rub it rather hard around on a paper towel (preferably with some ethanol if you have any). What happens is the rollers inside the mouse collect debris and you have to rub it off.

I'm already excited about the update to the iPhone's software. Everything else is going to be lovely, lovely gravy. This is mainly because I'm holding off buying a new iPhone for a few years.
It seems unlikely that there'll be a video camera, but I don't specialize in Apple rumor divination. ;)
12 CST is going to be so far away.

i think that if it's not out by labor day, no snow leopard until november 14th, at least.

Agreed. The other sites usually insert snarky comments here and there, which I personally don't enjoy.

+1

MR is always the most objective. Engadget's and Gizmodo's "comments" are something I'd like to read after (if at all) - and not during the keynote.

Why update the Macs and/or release a new model that comes pre-installed with Mac OS X Leopard when Snow Leopard is just around the corner?
Because they did it with the iMacs in 2007? Same with the back-to-school promotion.

A September/October update doesn't really align with the recent Penryn update or the upcoming Arrandale, but it does match Clarksfield's release. That could mean the MacBook Pros will use Clarksfield, which leaves...Penryn for the MacBooks?

I'd feel so bad for the people who just bought their first iPhone within the last week.
They can't return it to the store?

I tell you my 6 month "old" T-Mobile 3G iPhone will be replaced for a new one, for free, as soon as possible – having connection problems makes this possible for me, but there has got to be other ways to get a new one, and perfectly legally of course ;)

is there a website to allow me to listen to WWDC?? :D

Unfortunately, no. MR will provide live coverage though - go to macrumors.com when the event starts and you'll see pictures/text of what is going on. has been excellent in the past!
