And as for being able to support current Apps, how do you not appreciate that?! Do you really want to have to go buy all new apps for your new iphone? You really don't want to be able to use ones you like now on the new one? Seriously?!

Android uses a different approach laying out screens. Apps written for Android for the most part don't care if the screen resolution changes. They work regardless.

Because of iPhone Cocoa design, apps are designed specifically for iPhone screen resolution and would completely break if it changed.

So doubling the screen resolution was their only option to increase resolution while dealing with the Cocoa design limitation.

Basically its their design that makes it a problem. Android doesn't have this problem and can support a wide variety of devices without breaking apps. From 3" phones to 5" phones to 42" TVs connected to Google TV.

Damn, I was hoping that iOS 4 would be ready for everyone today.
I don't think they want to give the 3G/3GS a new lease on life before the iPhone 4 is available. IOS 4 is too much fun. They're probably stalling to get the new phone out the door first and make the OS downloadable for older models a few days later.

I wonder what the default enable password is on IOS4 and if there's a RS-232 console somewhere in there. Maybe we can boot off of TFTP now. :p

Isn't AT&T switching to bandwidth-limited plans for the iPhone?

I don't want my monthly data quota getting eaten up by extravagant advertisements.

iAds keep users in the app when tapped instead of closing the app, loading the browser, and taking you to a random web site.

Surely this was only a problem for iPhone OS (iOS)? As other smartphones can multitask, you can pop right back into the app where you left off.

The only two things I'm less than enchanted about is no 64gb memory and the seams, but besides that, the new features are amazing.

is iAd number 7 or 8? cause he hasnt said anything about the front facing camera/video conferencing?

Number 8 is iAd. So that means no video chat? Hoping for "one more thing".
Maybe they dropped the front facing cam at the last minute like they did on the iPad. If everyone started using those, AT&T would implode.
