WWDC 2012 Spoiler Free Video Stream [Video Online]

Live Stream

Why has Apple quit Live Streaming the Keynotes?

Does anyone think they might start doing that again?

----------

Most likely to control issues that may arise. When they did streaming of the 2010 WWDC, Steve couldn't get on the 3G or WiFi with the iPhone 4 during the demo. After they posted the video, they cut out that section...

I re-asked that question before I saw your answer... but the people in the audience wouldn't have been live streaming... and that's why he couldn't get on... because everyone was on Apple's WiFi trying to blog

They didn't cut it out.

There was a live streamed Stevenote many years back (maybe introduction of the ROKR iTunes phone) where he couldn't get some gadget to work and threw it at/to somebody off stage. Seems it was soon after that they stopped the live streams and went to posting later.

We usually have a mailing list option, but we're having some technical difficulties with adding new names to it.

So if you are on the list, you will get an email, but I don't know if we'll be able to get new names on the list right this moment.

Working on it,

A suggestion: Make a "MacRumorsNoSpoilers" [too long?] twitter account that folks could subscribe too and post the link to this tread when the video is live.

Is there a link where we can check to see if we are already on the list? I believe I am, but would like to confirm.

That would be a camera - I believe it may have been during an early iPhoto demo? It was a point and shoot camera; you can probably search on YouTube and see it there or in the iTunes Apple podcast that has all of their keynotes in recent years available.

Except they did stream the back to the Mac event in Oct 2010.

CNN will sometimes stream it, though on a 30 min delay.

Spoiler free? I know that MacRumors does this every year, but it feels like this year everything has already been spoiled.

Rather have to agree. Yes it has all been just rumors but still we know that at least some of those rumors are correct and some others are partially correct. So you have already been spoiled.

And yes the folks saying "then stay off the internet" are correct. The easy way to avoid seeing anything until you can see and hear it from Team Apple is to not go on any of your sites on Monday. After dinner that night go to apple.com and see the 'real' information as it will be posted by then.

The only way that this 'spoiler free' zone idea works is if Macrumors (and the like) created a system that either allowed folks to exclude certain tags or they created a separate forum and article area just for rumors and folks could just not go there. And there was a firm rule that you didn't talk about any rumors outside of that area or you'd be banned.

That is what this post is for. :) There are no links on the sidebar to other MR stories, and as long as the top-voted forum threads for this post don't contain any spoilers, then simply going to the article's direct URL will work. MR staff will update the article with the link to the QT video and one click on it and it will be able to be viewed. If the link to Apple's site contains spoilers, MR staff warn that in the update, and they usually link direct to the QT stream rather than the apple.com web page.

I've done both the "follow live blogs" thing, and the MR "bookmark this link" thing, and this year, it is spoiler free, Apple QT video only for me, so I am thankful that MR continues to do this.

When do you guys think Apple will post the video?

on the main apple.com, as quick as possible. They will typically take the site off line so they can load in all the new pages and other videos and then wait for the event one to compress etc. an hour or two tops is the typical

on the international pages, iTunes etc, it will take anywhere from another couple of hours to the next day for them to get the proper encodings and uploads finished

That is what this post is for.

And you didn't really read my message. Or you would have seen that my point was that we've spent the last how many weeks seeing multiple articles about every possible rumor of what's coming in general, what they might talk about at WWDC etc. So unless there's a way to avoid all of that, the spoilage has happened.

so maybe instead of letting folks talk about the articles, the behind the scenes features, the casting news, last weeks preview etc and then just calling talking about the episode a spoiler, maybe Macrumors should put all the rumors and speculation into its own area of the site and those that are sick of the rumors can just not open that door. They can stick to the Front Page, Mac Blog and iOS Blog which only deal in fact and actual news

I would love to Star Spoiler Free until i can watch the whole Keynote, but I think i could not stand it. Maybe I'll try. St least I hope there will be no partypoopers for the Spoiler Free crowd.

I only replied to your one paragraph stating that it would be neat if there was a page for a spoiler free article, which is what this post was about. Rumors are only rumors. If someone is posting to MR, then obviously they know about rumors. Specific details will be revealed in the keynote and every website that has Mac news will be making those details known shortly after they've been spoken on stage. This article on MR is for folks who want to see that news direct from Apple's keynote.

So, yes, it is in fact doable to remain keynote spoiler free if one uses the article's 'bookmark this' link to watch the keynote and thus avoid all the updates on the main MR site. It's nice of MR to even exclude the sidebar on the right side of the bookmarked page so new articles which would contain product/news spoilers, aren't shown.

Spoiler alert!!!! iOS 6 will be released but the big news involved in that is that instead of updates to existing iOS, it will be all new. Just are just putting ICS on iPhone and calling iOS. Sorry for the spoiler!!!

That's still not the point of spoiler free. Spoiler free is not about not wanting to know what they may release next. People here like to read the rumours obviously, it builds the excitement and expectations, but they are just rumours, not adverts or trailers. Being able to watch the announcement in the way it is intended gives you the opportunity to enjoy the finale to the last few months build up and make your own decisions on how you view them.

I suppose trolls that post spoilers should be permabanned, given that they are properly awarded first

I come here to get spoilers. Otherwise I'd just read a news site that just posts press releases.

Haha nice idea. I don't understand "tomorrow" thought, tomorrow is Sunday right? WWDC starts Monday?

People are so funny. This site is called "MacRumors", the whole point of it is to post rumours. If you don't want to get "spoiled" by rumours, don't go on a site with the url "MacRumors".
I've lost count how many times I've read a complaint by someone when MacRumors posts a news item on the front page. Guaranteed a dozen people are gonna post "Why is this here? Is it really a rumour" and then people point out that the site is subtitled "News you care about".
And now we have people complaining that they can't watch an Apple event unspoiled because they've read rumours on a rumour site?
Are you kidding me?

Spoiler free? I know that MacRumors does this every year, but it feels like this year everything has already been spoiled.

Very true. MacRumours puts up every rumour even the silly "we know they are not true" ones. So by the time WWDC comes around all the possible spoiler rumours are on the website. Yes I know they are not facts from Apple. But the smart person can sift through the rumours and pick out the plausable ones.

Happens every year. And if you don't want to know the exact releases before you watch the WWDC video do not come on websites like this one till then. Simple. Cause people love to brag. And WWDC info is no exception.

Yay another spoiler free keynote for me, this one is kinda special cause I'll be staying spoiler free at Disney :D

And now we have people complaining that they can't watch an Apple event unspoiled because they've read rumours on a rumour site?

I made no such complaint. My complaint was that it is stupid to post a thread about the video stream for folks to avoid spoilers about the keynote since they would already know most of the information thanks to all the rumors. so why bother with the pretense. If folks really don't want to know until Apple releases the official video then they can not come to the site during the time the keynote is going on. Or not click the link to the live blog.

Hmmm. Darn!

Do you mean that we will get the email if we were previously registered to mailing list? Or if we did it while the box was there?

Also, does anyone know of some notification system that tells me when the video is available? I was thinking ifttt for the email... Better ideas?

Thanks ;)

you'll get an email if you were still previously subscribed (over the past couple of years)
