Nooooo. I wasn't subscribed ;(

I need an email! I have set up a ifttt task for when I receive an email with WWDC in it. I want to be notified because I will be asleep. Any chance of this being fixed soon? Or maybe you could make a twitter account that ONLY posts when there is a link. I can make an ifttt task for that too ;)

Thanks :D

I made no such complaint. My complaint was that it is stupid to post a thread about the video stream for folks to avoid spoilers about the keynote since they would already know most of the information thanks to all the rumors. so why bother with the pretense.

They are rumors. Nobody knows anything. What iOS 6 will contain is still very much a mystery; there have only been a few rumors and they've been obvious things (Facebook and Maps.)

In fact, one could argue that the volume of rumors is as such that we know less this time around, since there is no possible way Apple will reveal all of it.

The problem is this:
If you view this article on the desktop version (but not mobile version), because it is in the Mac Blog, we would still be able to see the recent posts from the front page along the right sidebar. This would presumably have the recent stories including some WWDC spoilers. :(

Most likely to control issues that may arise. When they did streaming of the 2010 WWDC, Steve couldn't get on the 3G or WiFi with the iPhone 4 during the demo. After they posted the video, they cut out that section...

AFTER they posted the video they cut it out? You're not making much sense.

Sorry! If you click on the single post link at the bottom of the article, you will not see the front page news stories. My bad

Just to let you guys know, Apple often sends emails about their new products right after the announcements. They might do it before the video of the keynote is available for viewing on their website; therefore, a good idea might be to not look at or check your email as you wait for the video.

The year in question they did edit out a very short clip from the keynote before it was posted. They didn't edit out the part where the wi-fi wouldn't work, they edited out the part where someone in the audience yelled (something like) "Get Verizon". Because of this edit it took them several times longer that year to post the video (I want to say it was around 12 hours after the event).

The good news is that lately they have lessened the time that it takes them to post it. As people have said it is often less than a few hours after the event is over when the video is posted.

I had been a "Spoiler Free Veteran" for many years (I even credit myself with being the person that got MacRumors to start these threads) but lately I gave up and instead have been Skyping with a friend as we peruse the many live blogs of the event.

This event however I will have to again be Spoiler Free. I have to work noon to 6PM (CST) on Monday. (That is I will be arriving at work as the event is starting.) Will come in here that evening after I get off work to get the link to watch the event.

Looking forward to seeing how well Tim Cook does it Steve's absence.

Matthew

I'm considering going spoiler free this time just to mix it up

That is what I'm doing this year. I'm not talking to anyone or going to any websites till I can watch the video. I want to try being completely surprised this year. =)

Obviously you have to experience "spoiler free" to understand it. For six years I've been hanging out on the Macrumors spoiler free thread during keynotes. It's not just about avoiding the spoilers. We wind up talking about all sorts of fun stuff while waiting, and avoiding the temptation to peek before being able to watch the video and see it firsthand. It's a way to pretend you were there, seeing it live. Totally different feeling than reading live blogs etc.

And for those who say "just stay off the Internet"- right, like that's possible.

If you don't like it, you don't have to do it. But don't knock it til you try it.

But what if some schmuck decides to be cute and posts a spoiler. I almost don't want to risk that happening. That's why I'll link to this thread but I won't read the comments til after I watch the keynote

I've noticed that Apple only puts SD versions of the keynote videos on http://www.apple.com/startpage/. So I will probably wait until they post a 1080p version on iTunes or on YouTube. And the former seems to have a worse quality that the latter.

EDIT: The new iPad event is in SD but iPhone 4S event is in HD.

Exactly.

Let's start that type of convo and stop fruitlessly discussing the merits of this thread with people who don't care/understand.

What are some recent films released that are long that we can watch during the wait? Hemingway & Gellhorn was just released by HBO and is like three hours long. Anyone seen it yet? I started it the other night and then passed out during the first third haha.

We should create a topic in the PRSI to make it less likely that someone will post spoilers in the thread.

I believe I am still subscribed, but often get the emails hours after the stream went up on Apple's website.

In the past I have checked out live streams. This will be my first time trying to go spoiler free till watching the keynote. It's going to be a bit hard since I work at a computer and have open access to the net.

I'll be playing the keynote from my iPhone out to my 55" living room tv. :D

If apple follows its normal url naming convention the url for this years stream will be:
http://www.apple.com/apple-events/wwdc-2012/

I didn't know that! I wish everyone here on MR was as informative as you. Can't blame them for editing that out haha

If folks really don't want to know until Apple releases the official video then they can not come to the site during the time the keynote is going on. Or not click the link to the live blog.

That's the whole point of this thread ¬¬

It's first and foremost a place where you can come and find a link to the keynote video, without worrying about being "spoiled".

Let's hope this doesn't happen this year. Can't wait to see the keynote spoiler-free.

I'm in the UK and I think it will start 6pm for us. Does anyone know how long it usually lasts and a rough estimate on how long it takes for the video to appear. Just trying to figure out if i'll be able to do it before I go to bed.

Thanks

The Keynote is scheduled to last 1.5 hours so should finish 7.30pm our time. I've generally found in the past that more often than not the video doesn't come on-line until after I've given up and gone to bed, and on the odd occasion when it's posted early (about 10pm I think was the earliest) the video stops now and then probably due to the number of people accessing it. I've found waiting until breakfast on Tuesday is a good time to watch it.

Personally, I'm so desperate for a Mac Pro update that for the first time in ages I won't be waiting until Tuesday morning but will be following the MacRumors blog while keeping one eye on the second half of England v France in Euro 2012. Yes, I know. Multi-tasking?! I feel faint... :D

I heard from a friend that the ipad 3 one was up very quickly after the conference, definilty within an hour he said. Was the one your talking about a particular one, or does it usually take a while in general you think?

It's really random, that's why we can only guess and can't make an accurate prediction.
