Hey, I searched old spoiler-free threads for the link to that keynote checker that a member of these forums has updated for past keynotes, and it's already been updated to check for tomorrow's keynote!

http://insightview.com/keynotechecker/

Great! Thanks for sharing!

Although, personally, I consider watching a live stream as it happens to be "spoiler free". All that I care about is I see the press event as it happens before I read anyone's transcription or interpretation. IE, MacRumorsLive twitter feed. While they leave the interpretation largely up to readers, they don't get a perfect transcription of everything that's said. Even if they do, they lose the full visual and timing elements, which are part of the theatrics that I enjoy.

Having said that, I may just watch the live stream someone else posted a link to earlier, which is here:
http://cydiaism.com/watch-online-apple-wwdc-2012-live-streaming-for-free/

(IDK, I'm a little worried that the link may contain spoilers... Maybe the video is a little behind their transcriptions or something.)

My complaint was that it is stupid to post a thread about the video stream for folks to avoid spoilers about the keynote since they would already know most of the information

Your opinion is noted. But it's what we like to do. We're not hurting anyone, so why not let us have out fun? For many, even though we read the rumours and and speculation leading upto the event - nothing is official till its said in the keynote - and many of us like to watch the keynote and experience it as though we're in the audience.

----------

But what if some schmuck decides to be cute and posts a spoiler. I almost don't want to risk that happening.

Unfortunatly that happens every year without fail. Every year people think it's cute to announce their opinion 'meh wasn't all that, don't like the name of (insert new product name here)' and/or argue about the point of being spoiler free.

Thankfully there are many wonderful people who catch them and delete the posts - but it does happen. If you want to stay 100% spoiler free - leave your browser full screen on voidness's keynote checker - then turn off your phone so friends can't text, stay off the Internet and take a nap. Go for a walk. Play on a console not connected online and come back 4 or 5 hours after the keynote was due to start and see the video link magically appear on your screen :)

----------

I'm in the UK and I think it will start 6pm for us. Does anyone know how long it usually lasts and a rough estimate on how long it takes for the video to appear. Just trying to figure out if i'll be able to do it before I go to bed.

Thanks

UK here too. Anytime onward between 9pm-3am. No way to predict unfortunately tho last time round it was super quick. They must have been using FCPX :)

You guys all seem like apple veterans, so how long after the keynote will whatever products they unveil be available on their online store?
I am thinking the will probably be put up instantly but just won't be shipping for some time?

Yeah usually the bad posts get deleted almost immediately, so as long as you're careful about not reading posts that are a few seconds/a min old you'll probably be fine. Luckily I have a bunch of graphics work to do so I'm just going to have Maya open and Voidness's checker, then if it takes too long to post might kick the dust off the old Wii ...

Please be quick about posting the stream this time. In the past it took way too long (at least it felt like that) after it was on the Apple Homepage.
Here in Europe it will be online around 1 AM, if the past is a guide :D

Spoiler free tips!

I'm totally excited that it's that time of year again :)

I have the following tips for anyone wanting to stay 100% spoiler free as I can guarantee the following WILL happen!

- someone will post spoilers in the spoiler free thread
- Those in the know will leave cryptic clues talking around the subject
- people will argue about the definition of 'spoiler free'

Forgive me if this sounds a litlle bitter, but it's happened in every spoiler free thread so far. For me, spoiler free means I don't even want to know whether Tim walked out on stage, whether things were 'as expected' or whether other people's expectations were realised.

Thankfully the forum mods are usually pretty good at sorting out the junk and being on top if it. Also, his voidness is a legend and has already updated his keynote checker at http://insightview.com/keynotechecker/

Buckle up people. It's going to be a hell of a ride :)

Please report posts that are doing such things, Myself and a few other moderators are former spoiler free members, and understand the difficulties in staying in the dark when watching this thread.

Ah! The spoiler free page! Been a fixture of MacRumors for years now...
It's good to be back! :)

This will be my first time spoiler-free -- I'm working over in Singapore this year, so the keynote starts at 1am local time. Gonna set my alarm early for 5-ish and hope the video is online by then, so I can watch it before I go to work...

Weirdly excited to be watching it without the usual blog commentary! :D

I think it's likely the new iPods will also be launched on the store today including the 1TB iPod Classic.

Where have you heard any rumors about that? If it's just a random guess, I would think if anything Apple would discontinue the iPod Classic altogether...

Just a note to everyone discussing what may be announced today - not everyone might have seen the same rumours so you could effectively be 'spoiling' it for new peeps checking out the thread.

Here's something to pass the time - All Things D have posted the full video of their Tim Cook interview from last month. This should get us in the mood :)

There's also the "I'm not going to give away any spoilers but I'm pissed because I accidentally saw a headline on CNN about the keynote!! I won't give specifics, but just know that you'll be happy/upset/surprised"

That's always the worst. If you accidentally get spoiled, ANYTHING you post could get misconstrued. Maybe we should come up with a single "safe-word" that you can post, and that's it.

Re: Best practice to avoid spoilers for today's keynote

I got the best idea guys: watch the Euro 2012 while you are waiting -that way you won't get bored while you are waiting and won't be anxious, the time will just fly by (you have to like/enjoy watching soccer in order to do this:) )

Good luck!!!!

I was waiting for a full video since the actual conference but I couldn't wait any longer and I watched 17 minute highlights yesterday. Still, it's a good thing to keep me busy as I'm waiting for the keynote video.

My first spoiler-free keynote. It is hard but will be worth. :)

EDIT: The full D10-interview with Tim Cook is good for spanning the time until the keynote is available via apple.com. :))
