Synergy is one of the failed apps I was referencing lol. It's glitchy as hell. No experience with Linux but on Windows it's tragic. It works maybe once you first set it up, and then it just is all downhill from there. It's not at all as fluid as UC. Maybe they've improved Synergy since I used it last, but it was a dog and nowhere near the level of stability you want.
How are you judging that? We literally only just learned about this feature less than 30 minutes ago.

Why should anyone be annoyed...people buying into the rumors of Mac hardware being announced must have been oblivious to the fact that mini-LED screens are in short supply, component shortages abound, Apple's next CPU just entered production about 5 weeks ago and numerous credible rumors have the 14" and 16" MBP out in the Fall (meaning Late Q3, after back to school)? If anything had been announced, it would have been miracluous. So many forgetting that this is a RUMORS site, not a FACTS site.
Doesn't matter. If you went into that event without reading any rumors it was still very lackluster.

Big tech is pretty commoditized at this point. Android has a bunch of stuff announced here, especially in maps, and Android is copying Apple’s privacy in the next version. I think the days of expecting HUGE, LIFE-CHANGING TECH announcements are pretty much behind us all. That’s fine with me. I love the iterative nature of tech more than the Big stuff.

Any one think that we may see new Mac hardware in July? Between new phones, new watches, new lower-end iPads potentially coming out in the Fall, it does not give a lot of opportunity for new Mac announcements. (MacBook Pro, iMacs? )

I'm willing to bet the majority of people here complaining saying this keynote was boring are not real iOS/iPadOS/MacOS Developers. A true developer isn't here to be entertained. They are running a business to make money and are interested in getting their apps updated for the newly added functions in these OS's.
Yeah, but developers also don’t watch these things to see what’s new in iMessages and FaceTime. While I think a lot of this stuff was interesting for consumers, about 10 minutes was interesting to me as a developer.

Was reallllyyyy hoping for some Pro apps on iPad this year... better multitasking isn't too bad though, and the Shareplay API is pretty nice.

But no Pro apps means I'll be sticking to getting an iPad Air instead of the new Pros :D

I think the Watch OS 8 segment solidified my disappointment with this event today. I wanted to like it but I can't see myself using anything they announced. Maybe live text but that's a big maybe. I wanted improvements to what they already had and they didn't even bring it up. They didn't talk about Car Play, they didn't Talk about TVOS, and they didn't have any improvements for the Apple Watch. It's like we provide feedback for apple and they don't care. Now I have a decision to make on if I want to go to Android Phone. My Apple Music is up at the end of July, I do like the Apple TV set up and plan to reup for Ted Lasso, but if I get rid of the phone, then I have to get rid of the watch too. I've had the Apple Watch for close to 2 years anyway.

Apple is the largest company in the world, and it felt like this Keynote was a whole bunch of nothing. All those articles that were linked and did anything come to pass? Can someone please tell me why I should stay with Apple other than Privacy, which I will give them credit for.

By the way I'm not a developer, but I have paid good money for Apple Products and will probably continue to do so. As a Consumer, I should be more excited about this and I'm not.

It's strange to make a developer conference but do not make Pro machines at all. Current M1 Macs are jokes for devs and other pro's (except writers, maybe).
What? You can still buy Intel Macs with many core, many GBs of RAM and big SSD storage.

The Apple Silicon Macs will be more actual in Fall time this year, but my prediction is more or less next year. There are supplier shortages etc.

Also there isn't that much native software for the Apple ARM available. So why hurry?

Definitely the least exciting Apple keynote I have ever seen. I was bored out of my mind throughout the entire event. On the plus side, I am not salivating over a product I can't afford or desperate to install betas to try an awesome new feature. I feel like I watched nothing at all.

Why not? They can make an Mac event (or not, just refresh the Apple Store) in October or November 2021...
