Firstly the "SJ would've never, blah blah blah" line is tired and worn out but I can give you a laundry list of pointless events starring SJ. Often he's left people bored and nothing special. You're giving him too much credit. One of the most pointless events was for the iPod Shuffle which was discontinued not long after. I wonder why? 🙄

I think it could be better stated, without exhumation, that the self-aggrandizement has never been stronger. Period.

Never buy an iPad based on what could be, but what is...anyone who bought right before WWDC knowing it could be a boom or a bust should realize this. The Widgets and improvements to Multitasking should be welcomed. Also, a lot of under the hood things are saved for platform SotU and Sessions, so people should pay attention to that. The law of anything Files.app related is not encouraging however, as it is usable, but not very powerful. I'm hanging on to my iPad Pro 2017 for at least another year as I don't see anything here that makes me need a newer iPad Pro.
I am glad I held onto my 2020 iPad Pro. I agree that there appears to be more under the hood enhancements than anything and that is fine with me. I went into today expecting 1 maybe 2 new key features across all platforms and from what I saw, that is basically what we got. To be fair, Apple has had this kind of head scratching keynote before.

How are you judging that? We literally only just learned about this feature less than 30 minutes ago.

I watched the demo of Craig using it. It was a smooth transition. Apple will make sure it works. And because Apple creates the OS and this is a first party feature, it will be far tighter integrated and flawless in execution. Synergy is not at all that fluid. On the contrary it's janky, works half the time, and requires drivers installed and extra software and even through all of it that it's inconsistency and bugginess would drive anyone mad. It's poorly designed and no one has yet to do anything better until now. It will require an iPad or Mac, it's not going to come to Windows. But it's the best we've seen of this long-awaited idea of functionality that previously only a KVM box could consistently give you.

Steve Jobs never did a keynote as boring as this one, and he had a far narrower product line to work with.

iCloud+ combines iCloud with some new features like Private Relay, which lets you browse in Safari in an even more private way. Traffic leaving your device is encrypted and sent through two separate relays. No one, including Apple, can see who you are or where you're browsing.

Who is stupid enough to believe this???
I mean if it's really like that, people will use their relays to do shady stuff... sell drugs, hack coverment, build a darknet(tor) second edition, etc.

Come-on Apple, that's nonsense feature marketing myth!
Or......STALK people!

Basically it sounds like maybe VPN light? People can already do all those things so its not a big deal. Code doesnt sell drugs...people sell drugs.

Do massive amounts of people really use FaceTime? I’ve literally never FaceTimed and would be pissed if anyone tried to FaceTime me. I live my life as to not have to interact face to face with people. Don’t get why they’d start with this.

Don’t really understand the new notification system either. Just put your phone on silent. People can wait to be replied too.

Only thing I can remember seeing that I’ll even use is the easier multi-tasking on iPad and possibly universal control. The current drag and drop multi-tasking sucks.
Oh the usual "If I don't have a use for something nobody else should". 🙄

Wow, no new hardware. 2 guesses: (1) hit hard by chip shortage and/or (2) they want to wait for the fall, which I bet will be in person, so they can really show off the hardware and redesign.

Once again, that chubby little troll John Prosser is WRONG.
Or, the 3rd and obvious answer: Was never gonna happen, as MacBook Pros have been announced October-is the last few years, so this year will be the same.
SOOOOOO why exactly is an M1 iPad Pro with 16GB necessary again?
Maybe Apple are future proofing, and next year is the big iPadOS overhaul. I feel that this year is too soon for something like dual booting MacOS on an iPad like people were thinking was gonna happen today.

“wahhhhh, i bought an expensive product with the made up expectations of what people wanted and now i’m upset they didn’t come, and i wasted my money wahhhh”
Corrected in bold

I'm sorry, did you think that was a real demo that you were watching?

Apple also makes AirDrop and that breaks all the time. Let's not pretend that they've never released janky features before.

To be clear, I do expect it work well, but we shouldn't assume it will just because Apple showed a prerecorded demo of it and Craig said so.

Xcode Cloud simplifies the development process. Following a code change, Xcode can build the app in the cloud, freeing up your Mac for other things. Collaborators can also see the results of code changes. Xcode Cloud can also push new builds out for testing automatically.

Not bad, that way they have access directly to source codes of devs to steal ideas, and anticompetitively kick out apps later after stealing their code.

Good artists copy. Great artists steal - Steve Jobs

I was at the Santa Monica Apple Store watching the original iPod announcement live. (Back when they had big screens in the stores). You should have heard the MASSIVE complaints from everyone in attendance. (about 50+).
Then of course there was the Apple Hi-Fi event. LOL.

It's pretty obvious you haven't been an Apple user for very long. I've been Apple exclusive for the past 25+ years and have attended 9 Macworlds. You couldn't be more wrong. He's done some dud shows. And what difference does it make if this keynote was boring or exciting? Does this mean you have zero interest in updating your Apple hardware (provided you have Apple hardware) to any of the new OS's? Was this so boring that it prevented you from updating?

Yeah, it was. Keep in mind that this feature will be baked into the OS, not some janked up failed idea of an app that requires hook-ins and it still fails to give you a tolerable experience.

Do I think it will require a beta cycle to perfect like any other feature we've seen today? Yep. Do I think it will be as fluid as the demo was today (prerecorded or not) when Monterey hits GM? Yep. Next question.
