“wahhhhh, i bought an expensive product with the the promise of future updates and now i’m upset they didn’t come, and i wasted my money wahhhh”
People wanting apple so actually push the software rather than what was possible 4 years ago isn’t some giant ask here. An M1 iPad pro with 16GB of ram is literally useless Right now. The OS only lets devs use 5 GB of that.

I was at the Santa Monica Apple Store watching the original iPod announcement live. (Back when they had big screens in the stores). You should have heard the MASSIVE complaints from everyone in attendance. (about 50+).
Then of course there was the Apple Hi-Fi event. LOL.
The iPod Hi-Fi event was laughable.

Or, the 3rd and obvious answer: Was never gonna happen, as MacBook Pros have been announced October-is the last few years, so this year will be the same.

Maybe Apple are future proofing, and next year is the big iPadOS overhaul. I feel that this year is too soon for something like dual booting

Corrected in bold
couldn’t have said it better😝😝😝

I bet this event will be more interesting: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/event

Ah yes, because Windows (and Android for that matter) are *so* exciting. I'd rather watch a Bob Ross marathon than Google I/O or any of the Microsoft conferences. Both will be dull on the excitement scale, but at least ol' Bob is relaxing and mildly interesting to watch him paint. Both will put me to sleep. One a bit more peacefully than the other, mind you!

it's a shame you weren't here to burst our bubbles earlier!
I was saying it earlier. Plus MacRumors even had an article before the event from a reliable leaker saying it wouldn't happen. No reliable leaker was saying it would (Prosser is just a douche, not really reliable).

It was pure common sense. Last 4-5 years, we've seen new MacBooks in October/November time, it will be the same this year.

If Amazon Music updates the app to use the Shareplay API, then yes. It's down to the devs to add it in
Did I miss them mentioning an API? If there is an API I retract my statement but that presentation was paining a picture of this is a feature if you use our services and maybe in a few years we will open it up to look like we play nice.

The entitlement is strong here. Back in the day SJ charged for MacOS X and iPhone OS upgrades and people happily paid for them. FF today and OS upgrades are free (please don't reply and say they're included in your Mac purchase because it never was before) and people want to be entertained out of their seats and have the audacity to complain about new features they don't have to pay for. SMH.

Yes you did miss it, go back and watch it. They said it more than once. It already has a bunch of companies already on board, with more to come throughout iOS 15 beta, and into public release, and later. All up to devs to implement it in their apps for iOS 15's release.

The weird intro of people trying to design an intro made me suspect that this WWDC would lack anything truly amazing.

Lots of complexity being layered upon apps, with features you’d only use in idealised situations and which most people would struggle to discover and then master.

Nope, this is an “off” year. Can’t really complain after the big Big Sur redesign and Apple Silicon announcements last year. Every year can’t be as big as last year.

Apple also makes AirDrop and that breaks all the time. Let's not pretend that they've never released janky features before.

LOL, I've been using AirDrop since it's birth and have yet to have a single problem. It's one of the huge reasons people love Apple and the ecosystem. It makes switching between devices about a thousand times easier. It's not janky at all.

There is a difference between occasionally janky and broken and stays broken. I don't even put AirDrop in the former category but I'll say it anyway out of "fairness". The latter category is where Synergy and other handoff 3rd party apps live.

It's always a race to the bottom with who can muster the biggest eye roll and letting everyone know how bored they are. Kinda reminds me of high school.

Man, do I miss Steve Jobs.

Me too, We have gone from Steve announcing the world changing iphone 4 at wwdc 2010 to this joke of a conference which is nothing more than a glossy smug self congratulatory corporate circle jerk.

No 14/16 inch MBP? no M1X/M2 chip?

It almost feels like a sick joke, 2 hours wasted on filler with cool overproduced random cuts to a million deliberately curated speakers at spaceship hq talking about fitness+ subscription updates...
In Steves era those announcements would be covered by protégé Scott Forstall in less than 30 minutes in a static location before Steve moves on to what the audience wants: a mind blowing magical device announcement.

I wish the diversity and exclusivity of Apples hardware releases at WWDC matched that of its glorified pre-recorded pr woke conference...

Actually yes it was. You think macOS Snow Leopard for $29 would make up for the entire development cost? The main OS that comes with your mac is included in the price.

The race to the bottom began very quickly with some people being racist and sexist, but the mods deleted those comments fairly quickly.
