That new mini note feature (can't remember if that is the actual name!) looks a great new feature. Also like the look of the text recognition in photos feature, i look forward to testing it out and seeing if it can decipher my own writing because to be honest often i struggle.

I’d happily trade all of that diversity for an update to the 16-inch MBP before we reach 700 days. This is getting ridiculous.
And the two have nothing to do with each other. Ever hear of the global chip shortage, COVID, and the low yields for the new displays?

There was ZERO reason to expect a new MacBook Pro. You would think people would learn by now to not hype themselves up with BS rumors from fraudsters and mindless hype from macrumors forum users who are not based in reality. Unless Kuo or Gurman says something is coming then don’t expect anything.

Still can’t set our own custom dark mode wallpaper, still no calculator on iPad. But damn thank the lord there’s a newsfeed for our notifications now. 😣

Users were asking for a better way to manage Lock Screen notifications for almost ten years…..clearly it just doesn’t work so most of us have tuned off what we don’t want anymore.

Very well put. Couldn't have said it better.

Thank you.

I think a lot of people have been spoiled by all of these technological advancements to the point they've begun to expect more and more and more and it's never enough. Give an inch, they'll take a mile. And when the rumor mill eggs them on, you end up with some very ungrateful people who are clearly having a bad case of first world problems today.

wait wait wait.

I don't even care about the new hardware, what did I just witness?

did we really watch an event where they slightly tweaked existing OS's that could of been a .1 update?

When do they ever do features like this in .1 updates? Come back to reality and quit your knee jerk outrage.

New MacBook Pros have been in October/November over the last few years. This year will be the same. Apple like to release certain hardware at certain times of the year.

Swift Playgrounds building apps on iOS 15 is a big deal.
Widgets and multitasking in iPadOS 15 are a big deal.
System-wide Notes is a big deal.
Shortcuts on the Mac is a big deal.
The Health enhancements on the iPhone are a big deal.
Beyond this, I think that this year is a tuneup year for all platforms. Hopefully, tightening up code and making things more bulletproof.
iPadOS needs the most shoring up in terms of living up to the potential of the M1, which I did not see, this is my only letdown. Everyone with high expectations of hardware should have tempered them with the reality of supply constraints.

I know that there are Pros who need a larger iMac and MacBook Pros, but a lot of people here seemingly just want to be able to brag about things they aren’t going to buy anyways and are mad that didn’t happen.

Nailed it.

Has anyone figured out if M1 MacBook Pro or any m1 hardware is even selling? One past indicator of poor sales was no updates or significant mentions at keynotes

Probably no one noticed but I found funny the keynote had so many references to my small country of Portugal from features, email names even Face Time calls with a small flag.

Bring European Portuguese to Siri Apple :D and an Apple store if not much to ask for.

Right, zero reason except that it’s been almost 580 days since Apple’s top MBP has been updated.

I blame Apple somewhat for A) being secretive & B) having mixed DevCon and product announcements for the last couple of years at least. It’s supposed to be a Developers Conference not a hardware announcement but having done product announcements you can’t blame people for expecting something especially when new products are known to be near finished or finished. A simple
“No new hardware will be announced or displayed “ would have warned people that nothing new would be announced. People would have still hoped or
assumed something might still be shown
but expectations would have been lowered.

Announcing an upgrade or a product that isn’t expected causes excitement. Not announcing anything when people are expecting something because of the past history of this event causes disappointment.

Although I can't stand what the body positivity movement has become, I truly disagree. Their job is to UNDERSTAND health related technology in order to make it work in everyday use apps. Their job is not to be healthy, examples, or even to make dietary recommendations.
How can you understand health if you can’t be healthy and understand how it actually affects the body if you can apply it to yourself there’s one thing about being book smart and one thing with firsthand knowledge specifically there’s a Lotta variance in weightlifting physical movements there’s a lot of variance in oxygen uptake in endurance there is a lot of variance in movements there is a lot of variance in how caffeine affects certain people etc. etc. etc. first-hand knowledge is a lot better than book smart that is exactly what I mean so I gladly appreciate your input on that.

Why? No reputable reporters said there was hardware. People getting hyped up for nothing did it to themselves. The software was pretty lackluster but what else do you expect? COVID has pushed a lot of things back, probably including the Macs.

No, Apple helped. They have used this conference to announce products before and there are a lot of rumors of products at or near a release point and you are a company that has an extensive history of surprise announcements then it’s not surprising that people thought there was something that would be at least talked about.

Did they promise anything? No. But are they deaf to all the rumors about what could be released? I don’t think that they are that ignorant either. Say something plain and unequivocal, because heightened expectations once or twice that fizzle won’t crush the company but it will disillusion some for a while and repeated expectations not being met WILL hurt them eventually.
