I still don't really see the advantage. It's literally all the apps that already exist, just you see them bigger and you have to wear goggles. In terms of functionality there is no advantage whatsoever.
What? That's the advantage. It's your phone, ipad, mac, TV, and more. All in one display you can take with you in the space decent headphones use. It's the biggest shift in computing and entertainment in at least a generation. 3D omnimax with the portability of a cell phone. 8 50" displays around your office but that pack up into your overnight bag. Truly insane that there are people who don't get it. Will this gen 1 device be perfect? Absolutely not. But is AR/MR the future of all computing/displays? Without a doubt.

Like seriously? "what's the advantage?" of carrying large displays with you instead of squinting at your phone? Or hunching over your laptop? Just the posture advantages to long term health are revolutionary.

Seems like a lot of hypotheticals in this Disney ad. Is there anything actually concrete here that exists that can be tried by the press at this briefing? Or just a bunch of renders showing what might happen?
Was thinking the same thing

Once again a new product category where Apple execs tell us the what and the how but not the WHY. Why does this product need to exist? Because right now it seems tech for tech’s sake, not actually solving a problem.

Hah. Cue the Jony Ive-style, deep-voiced British designer presenting the hardware. 😂

I would've liked to see Evans Hankey do it some time, but she's probably even shyer and more private than Jony was. Apple has been on such a roll lately, hardware-wise, that that must be the only explanation for her not to have filled in his role yet. [Besides, duh, her having left Apple recently. Thank you for the correction, @Rogifan !]

From the design, I looks to me as if it's clearly not designed for people with prescription glasses.

Apple: We have Jony Ive at home.

Not so long ago they were talking about mental health and now they're going nuts over a product which could actually have serious negative impacts on someone's mental health.

Is this one a case of just because you can doesn't mean you should?
Yes, this is extremely dangerous for childrens and teens, it will force brain damage on them and literally will demobilize them. Seriously, letting a non adult who is still in physical development use this is abuse. And for people with mental problems this isn't contributing either.
