So now all we need is an Apple version of the Razer Zephyr to complete the set of eyes, ears, and mouth so that NO ONE will be able to recognize you with 10lbs of tech on your head...

Humble brag. Here in Finland, avarage salary is around 3000 euros.
In germany its below 2000€ a month and the average retired pensioner gets about 1400€ a month. I think selling this in Europe, specially during the ongoing recession is nearly impossible. Maybe they can sell some devices in Dubai or Monaco...

apple spends all this money on r&d and their 3d dev solution is to use unity and c#. that is just sad.

And you will have to buy two if you are in a healthy relationship and don’t want to turn into a lonely isolated person. Imagine you watch a movie on this and your BF / GF is sitting next to you but you are completely shut off. Seems sad

So that’s 7k, have 2 kids? 14k, family over for Christmas? 49k!

But everyone in a room can watch the same tv.

The world is bigger than Europe really.

Well… I hope they offer family discounts because otherwise this is going to be a tough sell for people in any kind of stable relationship.

There are at least 2 people on our sofa at night watching TV etc… 3 including the cat.

Here in Serbia avg salary is 700EUR, avg pension check is maybe half. It's not all about the money, this product is so so niche it's crazy.

Apple is really out of touch with reality. Nobody would use this more than a day even if given for free, let alone pay $3500 for the privilege. The ad proves it. Someone who wants to watch a movie would simply turn on the Apple TV. The designer would simply use a MacBook connected to a large display and an Apple Pencil. Someone who's packing their suitcase would simply answer their iPhone call by tapping their AirPods. The Vision Pro is a failed attempt to fix a problem or unfulfilled need that doesn't exist.
Exactly. You could even listen to music or watch a show with your phone while sitting on the toilet. But sure you won't wear these glasses plus their battery pack. There is simply no real use case in the existing world. Only a total paralyzed person could have a little advantage from that, but besides that, i see nobody asking for this.

I’m extremely interested to see how this can extend the UX of pro desktop applications & workloads. Justifying the “Pro” moniker is where the Vision Pro can shine - while single-user “home entertainment” seems secondary given the price. I hope these early use-cases from Apple are just the beginning, and that developers bring more to the table in the coming months. (Minority report post-production tools please).

The Vision Pro is also a disaster from a business perspective for Apple and shareholders. It likely costs huge amounts of R&D and it won't sell, and even if it would in 10 years time, it would replace Apple TVs, HomePods, Watches, MacBooks, AirPods and iPhones and so on. In other words, Apple would only sell one device, whereas they can now sell many different devices and make more money.

So no mention of AI innovation or Siri improvements, just a fancy Quest that only the rich will be able to afford and requires a battery pack? Apple seems to have really lost its way.

Creeping sense of horror. Know what will happen to the world, when everyone turns into zombies. No way to stop it.
How is someone more of a zombie using this than their current array of devices? We all stare at screens almost constantly already. This just means you get a better experince when you want to focus on the content, and a better ability to multitask the real and virtual ("listening to TV" like we all do so often, but now the visuals can be just a glance away wherever we are). Personally, I don't think VisionOS takes over until AR happens, but I still will likely buy this day one, the lure of finally having a truly working HMD for day to day computing is just too great. Of course my decision depends a bit on edge case support -- can take video input from other devices? Without that, it's kinda DOA for me unless it can also replace all my older or non-apple device monitors. But my family also has a MessagePad 100 my family bought at launch and only taken out of the box a few times. Really the only Apple devices we didn't buy generation 1 of are the Apple 1 and iPod, so it feels worth it even if 30 years from now this is a curiosity in "open box" condition.

Not for apple. Besides the US the EU is their biggest market and they sell their products for much more money than they do in the US. All the other markets don't contribute much to Apples success. Asia has their own huge companies dominating the market and all other regions of the world are either failed states, developing countries or totalitarian regimes.

Glad I shorted Apple before this started..lol
Look for Apple to plummet a bit for the next month... No AI. DOA headset. No essential software or services. But can't be emphasized enough what a joke this headset is. A massive failure Cook should've said no to.

I mean when you interact with the headset. Who knows how well the gestures will work in the real world.
You interact with eyes and small finger gestures, according to the presentation. takes less space than even using your phone. As long as the headset can see your fingers you don't need to move more than an inch or two.

am I only one that appreciates the battery PACK, less weight on the head/face, we survived all those years with wired headphones im sure we can survive a year or two with a new cable. It looks pretty cool that it it changeable so bigger battery packs from 3rd party? wall plug cable? I think it will be fine infill they can improve the tech.

People going crazy about the price saying it will fail. Apple announced a new Mac Pro which cost more. The Mac Pro hasn’t failed. Why? Because despite the cost people buy it. They don’t need to sell loads of them to make money. The profit margins are high.

Price is not the issue. Apple consumers have money. The issue is, what's the point of spending $3500 on a day-1 product with very little applications. The software and content needs to catch up.

Better wait for generation 2 and by then 3rd party software and content has caught up.

Besides, I think Apple will release cheaper "non-Pro" models in the future. But they will have the same problem if they were to launch today and fail for the same reason.

Everyone trying to get a good angle of Vision Pro.

You can put an iPhone on your bike, acting as a bike computer.

Is great for navigation / touring for example as you have a much better and bigger display than overpriced bike computers.
Yea, I get that but that’s not what you want when going mountain biking
