hey... gay people are good at selling stuff, because they're gay. no one's willing to buy anything from a sad person.. so be gay if you wanna sell something :D ;)

Heh, SO for those of you who don't know the original meaning of gay.. Gay meant Happy before it meant homosexual.

As IN:"when the 970's are released, I will be very gay."

Re: A philosophical approach

Will you really be let down if all Apple does is an in-depth presentation of Panther???

I think the community will be disappointed. But think of it this way: the fact that few people are clamoring for something new in the OS tells me that Jaguar is darn good. Apple is finally clicking on the operating system. What was it, 1996 when Apple finally abandoned its own modern OS effort and looked for an outside supplier? Then it took about 5 1/2 years from the NeXT acquisition to the release of Jaguar and making it the default OS (are those numbers right?).

I think the lack of buzz about Panther indicates that Apple fans are finally happy about and proud of their operating system. Mac OS X has arrived. :D

For me, I am going to be there for a full week immersed in all things Mac OS X. If no 970 is announced during the keynote, I will be disappointed for a few minutes, but then all the rest of the fun begins after lunch.

Its nice, but don't you think it looks a lot like Apple's 15" Tibook?

D'OH!!!

No, just kidding, I think thats what it'll look like. Aluminum instead of Titanium, kind of easy, don't you think? Maybe backlit keyboard.

Hey all. I've been following Mac rumors sites for several years now and enjoying the ride, but I have to admit that I'm a little puzzled at how willingly so many of us hype ourselves up. I've witnessed this cycle so many times. Apple has some cool new goodies to show off, and the rumor site regulars start gearing up for the Be-All-End-All Macintosh. Then, when Apple unveils lots of cool new goodies, the tone in these forums (and elsewhere) turns sour. Despite the fact that Apple did some great stuff, everyone is annoyed, disappointed and unimpressed--and for no reason. I have almost never been unimpressed with Apple's presentations, but then I keep most rumors at arm's-length. When something does pan out... wonderful! When it doesn't... cool anyway. I think some of you who hype these things up to the level of betting your own personal happiness and satisfaction on it really need to take a deep breath and put it all in perspective. Will you really be let down if all Apple does is an in-depth presentation of Panther??? C'mon! That will be amazing all on its own.

Actually, in case you have been paying more attention to the rumors than the forums  (lol j/k), more than 90% of the people say "I guess no ______ but did you hear that the new _______ can even _______??!!??"

Broadcast

I hope that Apple has a web broadcast, because I already planned to go to work late or take it off to watch it. When I watched the iTunes Store deal on media player that sucked, the quality was terrible. I rewatched when it was available through Quicktime.

I found this on looprumors. With all the talk of reconfiguring the stores for the new hardware, i thought it would be relevant.

Redesigned store

As said in the article, that is exactly how my Apple Store was already set up, except for the factor that it is narrower.

No Theatre

Loop Rumors says that they got rid of the theatre. That's wierd...

Yeah I was just making it to see how it would look.

Redesigned store

Oddly enough the Houston Galleria store already exists in the configuration mentioned in the Looprumors article. The registers are all the way in the back with a minimal software selection. CompUSA has more software than the Galleria store. The Genius Bar in the Galleria store is also exactly where the Looprumors article says it is.

I wonder if any of the 'newer' Apple stores already look like this?

Redesigned store

If you open the picture in a new window you get a much bigger more detailed picture just incase no one noticed.

(edit: I knew I would read it again only to find that he said you can enlarge it)

i can't seem to get the full size image up here. can someone post it at full size?

the question is, will this replace the set up at stores that have theaters? or just change it up for the ones that don't?

i can't exactly see the soho store going to this design...

The Apple Store in King of Prussia, PA, also looks like this. Did it always have this layout? (I've only visited it once.)

I have yet to drop by my local store at Clarendon, VA to see if it still has a theater.

Yeah because first of all that design is much narrower (not sure if this would keep Apple from doing it but I don't see them with different width stores, nor do I see them with different looking stores...so). I'll post it:
..no neverind I can't, it's too big.

That's not a store redesign -- the Towson, MD Apple Store has always looked like that, and its been open for months now. Scratch Looperumors as being even remotely believable for any Mac rumor in the future. Not that I check any rumor sites other than this one, and sometimes Thinksecret.

WWDC Keynote Broadcast

An earlier clue to the 970s debut was when it was noted that Jobs' keynote address was extended from 1.5 hours to two hours! Broadcasting his speach is great news and marketing. Store crowds of faithful will attract potential switchers to Jobs' performance. Great!

For the people in Philly. How far away is King of Prussia from philly? Looks like I'll be back east for two months when these nice lovies come out.

King of Prussia is about 30 minutes or so (longer depending on traffic on I-76, which is never good)

Redesigned store

It is my understanding that there are three classes of Apple Stores. Boutique, Regular and Flagship.

The Boutique stores (from personal experience, these are in Milwaukee, one of the Chicago stores, Sommerset in Michigan) are like this picture. Small software selection.

Regular stores (don't remember the official designation) are like the Woodfield Chicago, Pasadena, Durham, NC. Registers in the front, theatre, genius bar in the back. Software in the middle of the store behind the registers. (Pasadena actually varied from this style a little. Sort of in between a boutique and larger store.

Flagships are in Soho and LA - soon to be downtown in Chicago. Very big, so i hear.
