Absolutely not, tbh. This Friday at the earliest but I think 6/18 is a more likely date. The availability is going to be too limited to not give people at least a few days to get ready.
Definitely not until Friday of this week or the week after.

He certainly did.

Gurman didn't wasn't the only one to predict iMac. L0vetodream also predicted the colors too. This time, we got nothing from either one of them.
“Love a tile gizmo” lol, that was funny.

Fair enough! Although in his written summations leading up to the event he only acknowledged that a new iMac was in the works and ‘could’ be announced, without a concrete prediction that it would come at the April event. Even in the video you sent he chooses his words carefully, only saying that they are “in the pipeline.”

L0vetodream did post some cryptic MagSafe images a few weeks back but I guess that’s it from him.

****, I’m just happy we only have to wait another ~19 hours to find out what’s what.

One thing which makes me think that no hardware is coming or possibly just an M1X thrown into the current design.

WWDC starts at 10am, last year just with software and the announcement of M1 it took 1 hr 48 mins in total, this year we will have the exact same software announcements and probably M1X announced.

They announced today there is an Apple Music event directly after WWDC at 12pm… that leaves a space of approx. 12 mins to announce a whole new redesigned MacBook Pro… that seems like a bit of a long shot at this point… could be wrong though.

I'm thinking 50/50 chances on the new design, but no Mini-Led yet. Which ultimately is going to keep me from buying for now, but I'm very excited to get an idea of the performance gains and possible new form factors tomorrow.

And although all the predictions are pretty certain of impending Mac book pro's, i cant help but wonder if we'll only get the 'lower' powered versions tomorrow, with more powerful versions coming later, similar to how the iMac is being rolled out. Possibly apple silicon 'Mac Book's' with no proper 'Pro's' yet. I don't think this is likely given all the rumors, but just throwing it into the ether here.

No MacBook announcement.

The delivery dates for current 13- and 16-inch models haven’t slipped. Whenever new models are about to be announced, the delivery dates almost always slip. Apple doesn’t deliver old models after an announcement and production lines change to the new models.

More importantly, no one credible like Kuo and Gurman has predicted MacBooks for WWDC. As much as people hate Digitimes, those guys have a lot of ears in the actual supply chain.
I was going to vote new MBPs without mini-LED, but that observation just sinks the chances. I still expect the laptops in 2 - 3 months, so if nothing now, its will be worth the wait. ;)

They did announce loads of hardware at WWDC 2017, and that only ran to about 2 1/4 hours. Particularly if iOS 15 and MacOS 12 are quite light updates they can just adjust how much time they spend on those to make room, and/or dispense with the other waffle. So I wouldn't say that's enough to discount hardware on its own... though I feel like its more in the balance now than I did a couple of days ago D:

For me to move over from my current 16" it would require the 14 to feature...

- Mini LED
- 16GB on the Base Model
- Around those rumoured 16 GPU Cores
- Battery life around 15h

I wouldn't mind the 256GB storage, but the 512GB I have on my 16" is pretty cool to save some additional media and stuff that I need.

Honestly I'm just tired of dealing with the bloody heat and how big/heavy this computer is

A few things to consider:
  • Gurman, in a way, did indicate WWDC. He said the new MBPs would launch “as soon as early this summer,” which would match up with a WWDC timeframe.
  • MBP times aren’t slipping because they’re going to continue selling Intel MBPs longer than they’ve continued selling Intel variants of their other machines. The MBP is harder to abruptly switch to ASi, with no Intel option, since it is their flagship professional computer. Many current MBP users depend on Intel workflows and Apple wants to give them a last chance after the new variants are unveiled.

Wouldn't they want to keep selling Intel versions to enterprise and customers who want it? My IT department only orders 13" and 16" that features Intel for the time being. A couple of friends I work with also use Intel for the replacements, only the developers working on the corporate apps that will use Apple Silicon are using those.

I’m all in on an announcement tomorrow. Again thinking about timing: they won’t want to miss the back to school/end of vacation season. Announcing in September (which is the next window since everyone’s on vacation) will be too late.

Knowing that these will be the MacBooks starting at 1799$, I don't think it would affect Back to School much.

But hell, the Air and iMac will be selling like hot cakes.. Here in Europe if you try to order a M1 Air, most of the times you gonna have to wait a couple of days to get it since Amazon is working around the clock to try and get stock for it!

I guessed in 2-3 months. So that would be August/September
Stanford's first day of the quarter is Sept 14th as a example.

September is iPhone month, so then and probably the last half of August seems unlikely. If not WWDC the alternatives are most likely to be a MacBook Pro event in July, or an iPad/Mac event in October, or November, like the M1 event last year.

They won’t have an event in July. Everyone’s on vacation or tuned out then. If hardware is released in July, they’ll announce it tomorrow.

I agree it'd be awkward timing squeezing it in about a month or so after WWDC, but July is quite a common month for MBP hardware refreshes, and if for whatever reason the release has to be the latter part of July, WWDC might be considered too early?

As discussed, if they release the hardware in July, they’ll announce it tomorrow, giving over a month for pre-orders to shipment. They need to give lead time for delivery. Most deliveries and BTO options will ship Aug/Sept

Yeah if it’s shipping July we will definitely 100% have an announcement tomorrow.

I doubt they will hold an event in July for shipping in August as that is far to close to their iPhone event.

I think it’s safe to say, if nothing is announced tomorrow we aren’t getting anything until October/November time at the earliest.

My prediction is that no matter what happens, this section of the forums will be flooded with posts about how disappointed they are in Apple that are 50 pages+ long.
Hopefully not-- hopefully everyone will have their dreams and wishes fulfilled by the MacBook Pros that are announced ;)

I hope they announce something tomorrow. I may well decide to wait for the 2nd or 3rd generation Apple Silicon 16" to sort out the compromises in the first generation, so the sooner the first gen Apple Silicon 16" is released the sooner the 2nd/3rd gen are likely to be released.

Sooooo…. If no MBP announced tomorrow do you think it is wise to pull the trigger on the current 13” M1 MBP?

That’s what my plan is at the moment as quite a few discounts on it here in the UK
