Can I get some advice please?
I'm ready to buy an iMac with a 24-inch monitor.
I've been waiting for WWDC before making a decision.
Ideally, I want an iMac with Snow Leopard (and the Marble interface).
I can buy the thing using my education discount.
I'm not in a huge rush since I already have a MacBook and Mac mini.
What I really want is the larger monitor.
Do you think the iMac hardware will change at all?
Should I wait for SL to buy an iMac or just upgrade to the new OS when it (eventually) becomes available?
I'm looking forward for some advice!

You can get real advice Monday.

If you want a bigger monitor, just go out and get one.

But if you really want an iMac, just wait until after Monday and see what happens.

That just reminded me that there are some UI elements left over from Tiger in Leopard. There's the icon chooser in iChat and the theme selector in Keynote '08 and there's probably more.

There's always X11 to remind us how app windows looked in Tiger also.

But in general Leopard did it better than the cats that came before, and 'Marble' risks making divisions again. I suppose they have to have something to sort out for 10.7 though. GUI stuff is rarely touched in point point updates, 10.2.4 is the only one that springs to mind.

Looking forward to Tuesday though, when we in NZ will hear about what happened on Monday :).

Not that I'm up for a new phone yet, but I do hope the 3G chip/receiver is better. I still don't know whether AT&T is to blame or the 3G chip, but 3G (voice) in the current iPhone is pretty spotty at best. On Edge (voice), the phone is almost perfect.

I also understand why Apple concentrates more on the phone than the Mac. The Mac continues to fight for marketshare, a decimal point at a time. The iPhone is commanding it, as is the iPod. The benefit of iPhone domination is the need for a Mac to write software for it. It's all connected...

Who cares about desktops, desktops are dying, you don't jump on a dying market.

desktops will be around for a long, long time. why? because custimization and upgradeability. notebooks have made a considerable surge in terms of marketshare - but, desktops are needed and still in good demand for obvious reasons. a desktop and notebook goes hand in hand. if i only had one choice - it would be a desktop because i can at least keep upgrading it without needing to plunk down a large amount just to make it relevant with changing technology.

I have the 2007 iPhone, ready to upgrade but the catch is I need 2 of them since I am now married.

I want to get the AT&T family plan and share minutes. My wife doesn't have an iTunes account. Can I sync her iPhone on mine? So she can use my Apps or download her own? How does it all work? help!!!

Apple Insider posted a screen shot of the T-Mobile system showing the new iphones

http://www.appleinsider.com/article...models_surface_in_dutch_t_mobile_systems.html

People have been saying that NTB needs to be in german, but the rest of the words are in english. If you look at the asus line further down, it shows "TBD" or to be determined. NTB could easily be notebook, netbook, etc

Are you trying to make all dutch-speaking people on this forum pissed. There were already two posts saying that dutch ≠ german.

Hell No we're not germans

Dutch = Holland = The Netherlands got it now?

en nee ook geen duits bloed! :p

Ahhh. We've all been cursed!!!

I think I've seen Drag Me to Hell too many times...

Lay off the dutch. LOL They're awesome... I only know one dutch word: "Donkeywell" which I think means "thank you". Am I right?

Out of all that's expected to be released / announced I'm looking the most forward to Snow Leopard. I'd love to have iPhone OS 3.0, but given I have the first gen model (non 3G), I won't be able to use all the features. I'll likely upgrade to stay current and to use the features that the iPhone original can use, but I really wish I had the funds to get a 3G... Oh well.

Hmm so 12 noon US/EST? Don't the keynotes historically start at 10AM US/PST? That would make it 1PM US/EST. That'll be around 7pm here in Germany where I'm vacationing with my family. I'll be here.

Apple, BRING. IT. ON! YEAH~

At least some new iPhone's will happen at WWDC!

I just don't see WWDC happening without some new iPhone's. The most rational would be a bumped revision of the current model and an annoucement for an iPhone pro variant. IPhone Nano is a natural too.

As to the Macs Apple might punt with respect to the UBMBP. I just have this feeling that they just aren't meeting Apples expectations. At least with respect to the small one, it's lack of ports is a killer. Likewise AIR is a joke all of it's own. Think of it as an emergency overhaul of the line.

It's not simple

Not that I'm up for a new phone yet, but I do hope the 3G chip/receiver is better. I still don't know whether AT&T is to blame or the 3G chip, but 3G (voice) in the current iPhone is pretty spotty at best. On Edge (voice), the phone is almost perfect.

Recall that 3G and EDGE use completely different back-end antennas and equipment. It is very possible that you get great 3G and lousy EDGE service in a particular area. In general, AT&T is putting 3G on the 850 MHz band, and moving EDGE to the less capable 1900 MHz band. But there may be reasons in your area (like agreements with other telcos, or license restrictions) that prevent them from doing that in your area. OR, perhaps your 3G tower is far away, and you're expected to be serviced by EDGE.... like all companies, AT&T has a priority list, and perhaps your local tower is near the bottom.

AT&T, like all other telcos, is sunsetting their old technology and equipment. That means, sooner or later, AT&T will terminate EDGE service. But it's really a neighborhood and regional decision based on many factors.

Where I live, 3G service is exceptional as of about 10 months ago. I get about 1 bar if I force my iPhone 3G into EDGE-only mode.

What do you mean "they aren't meeting Apples expectations"?

Ahhh... so what you're saying is the iPhone will either stay roughly the same, get more powerful, or get less powerful? Have you considered a career in politics.

Yes, the keynote starts 10am PST that's 7pm here in Germany. The keynote video comes usually at around 1am the next day...

Getting close and close :D

Can't wait for both Snow Leopard and iPhone announcements.

It is funny that some people vote this story negative.

What!! WWDC is happening next week with iPhone and Snow Leopards announcements. What is wrong with Apple?!?!

;)

Notice the banner that says "iPhone OS 3.0" at the last keynote wasn't Apple calling the OS something like "OS X iPhone"?

Why can't they make up their minds!?

Thank you very much :)

No. it's always been iPhone OS 3.0. you're confusing it with the new QuickTime X

This is interesting to me. I've been noticing lately areas where I have had good 3G coverage now is back on EDGE coverage. I dont know if its due to bandwidth thats being used in the certain area or some other issue, but its been going on for the past few weeks now. I wonder if it might be due to tower upgrades for the new 3.5G? All I know is I hope I have good 3G at work on Monday so I can follow whats going on at WWDC.

If Steve actually shows up for just 3 minutes for "One more thing", we are really going to see some sticky pants at the crowd.
