I'm really happy with my X. I think its a great upgrade, but if you already own the S, I can see why you may be hesitant.
I mean the SSD speed is the same between the two. So if Microsoft can get Flight Sim loading fast on 1 it should load fast on the other too. I was just pointing out that the PC Build loads real slow on a fast SSD (PCIe G4) and I hoped they would improve it for the consoles.

Even if you have the fastest SSD, some games don't take full advantage of the speed because they are written for computer that use HDDs or slow SSD.

Native next gen games for the PS5 and XSX can written differently. Some assets and levels can be stored uncompressed in a way where they can be loaded straight into the RAM without modifications. Look at Ratchet and Clank for PS5 as an example.

Therefore there is a possibility that FS would load faster on console than PC. However, the launch is less than a month away and I would first look and build-up in the next two week.

Finally snagged a series X, due to arrive this week. I have been playing on my one for the last 7 years and it randomly shuts off at times so I think it's on its last legs (or maybe its a quick fix, but I got a nice 4k tv now so I want to take advantage of that).

What did you all do with your older xbox consoles? I doubt anyone will buy it on FB marketplace or CL at this point. Thinking of just biting the bullet and getting a not too bad $70 (according to gamestop) for a cash offer. I also considering just donating it to a local hospital / school.

I was going to ask you where you found your X, but I think you said Walmart earlier in this thread. I did see some X’s earlier in stock at Target, but they’ve slipped since they were in stock about two days ago.

My One X I gave to a family who I know personally for their two kids who want to play Minecraft on a console. I gave them two controllers, and my One X had less than ~75 hours total of gaming on that console. It didn’t even have freakin dust on it, that’s how nice it was. But then again, I think those kids would probably get more use out of it than I would, I still have my PlayStation until my replacement X ships.

my Oled choice is to be 48" Sony A9 or 42" LG if it ever surfaces.
Durin 22'
My shortlist is the following 65 inch TVs:
-Sony XH95(LED, but with superb HDR brightness)
-LG CX
-LG C1

The two first ones are 2020 models. Fingers cross a clearance deal on either will tip me over the edge. :)

Unfortunately the G1 and A90 are too expensive for the screen size that I desire which is ideal 65 but can accept 55.

Thanks for the reply. I am sure the kids really appreciate it.

I actually scored on Best Buy using the Hotstock app. I also got lucky with my local store having it (a lot of people, including me, would get to the check out and their preferred location was sold out). I wasn't going to drive any further than I had to, but again got lucky with my local store.

Good Luck.

Under promise-over deliver! Microsoft sent me a Series X in two business days when they were predicting three weeks or longer.....I’m back in business.

Ray Tracing via cod black ops is taking ages to install options via file manaement.
Nice to see Medium included one of my most enjoyable S Series games.

thanks
It you are looking for games that truly showcase the capabilities of the Series X, there are none. Sure, some games look great but none look truly next gen.

10 hours download and ray tracing last option unselectable, seems it must be very last part of cod files.
Quite happy as X Series seems to offer arcade quailty feel.

thanks

On the 27th July, MS will launch Update 5 for FS. They have reworked the engine and managed to increase frame rates by 40-50%. Pretty fascinating stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if loading speeds have been reduced.

Overall it seems like the PC and Xbox versions will be identical both visually and under the bonnet.

One fine print is VRR. FS will be one of the first non FPS games for which VRR matters. For TVs without VRR, frame rate is fixed at 30fps. With VRR it can go up to 35-40fps over densely populated urban areas, but as high as 60fps over rural areas.

Now I'm 100% guaranteed to buy TV with VRR.

VRR isn't going to dramatically increase frame rate. MSFS devs said the game will go above 30fps with VRR, but the base frame rate is 30 fps.

I remember hearing in the interview that with VRR frame rates can go up to 35-40fps over urban areas and up to 60fps over rural areas.

Correct me if I am wrong

That very well may be the case just not necessarily due to VRR. I have a VRR monitor (free sync) and it is great, but it isn't going crunch out more frames. Primarily it removes screen tearing and the subsequent need for vsync which limits performance.

Thanks.

It will be interesting to see what PC level shadow detail and reflections that the XSX will be equivalent to.

I think the big thing is the move to DirectX 12. That should alleviate a lot of the pressure on the CPU which has been the bottleneck on the PC side. I'm betting it is going to look amazing on Xbox Series X.

This game is one of the main reasons why I bought the XSX over the PS5. I cannot wait and look forward to buying a hotas or a yoke or even both. Haha

My biggest concern about the game is that it becomes payware. I don't want to pay £8-20 for hand crafted airports and buildings.

I don't blame you. The base game would be enough for me. I'll play it eventually on PC. I remember playing the original Flight Simulator when I was a kid.

It looks a bit different today.

Waiting patiently to just walk inside a retailer and magically finding one of these bad boys haha

I have a Xbox One X hooked up to a 165hz hdmi 2.0 monitor so the anticipation is pretty high lol

Seriously, it’s doable to find one on a shelf. The problem is, some retailers actually won’t stock them on the shelf, so you have to order them online through their app/desktop and then you would have to pick it up curbside or in-store. Now, Best Buy actually does stock the Xbox X on shelf, and I would check those hours early morning when they update their inventory right before they open, and you might have a chance if you’re quick about it.

Also, it’s worth noting that if the bots make the purchase when the Xbox is in stock, sometimes these the consoles don’t always ship or get picked up from the buyer, and then a few hours later, they put back on the shelf. So it does pay to check stock allocations.
