I just do the Micorsoft rewards with Bing searches and gamepass quests and I haven't actually ever paid for GPU. I just rack up enough points to get a 3 month pass, and redeem it. I am good to go until next January. It takes me usually 1 1/2 - 2 months to get the points needed so each time I am slowly pushing out the re-up time by an extra month.

I currently have around 20K rewards points. I'm saving those up for when I get an Xbox. Probably in the fall. By then, I should be good to go for some time in the Game Pass.

Don't you get rewards points by getting achievements as well?

Not achievements... well sometimes. Gamepass has quests, weekly daily and monthly. Some of them will be like, get 3 achievements in gamepass games. Others will be play 3 or 4 gamepass games in a week. Some of the weekly quests are also do bing searches on 3 different days.

But they all add up. Once you start doing the rewards it's easy to achieve level 2 in a month which reduces the point value needed for the 3 month GPU from 42000 to 35000.

I try to do the daily’s and weekly quest, which isn’t a huge deal. However, I tried using bing as my main search engine (I have an iPhone) and quite honestly, it’s really horrible compared to safari or google (or even msn lol). When I did use bing, I used to like the daily quizzes. It was good to learn new facts.

Have to admit. I cheated a bit with the bing stuff. I wrote a c# program that performed a random bing search in a loop. Between that and the daily quizzes I was able to build up a good number of points. Of course, stuff like this is why they have a max points per day limit.

I see!! I was wondering how one can accumulate so much points in a short period of time. I swear I used it almost 3 weeks and I didn’t even hit half of the 8-10k rewards for the month of gold or gp

I have it set as my search engine for my work computer. I just browse through the headlines and do the daily quiz while drinking my coffee.

Was able to order an Xbox Series S from Best Buy last night. Just randomly came across it while looking at games for sale and saw that it was available. I've been thinking about the S over the X for a number of reasons.

1) I already have a gaming PC and PS5. Options for superior graphics are already checked off so I don't really need the Series X.
2) Backward compatibility is still going to work great on either this or the Series X
3) I'm really buying an Xbox for one reason: Game Pass. Yeah....PC has Game Pass as well, but it doesn't have all the same games. Games like Outriders and MLB are not on PC Game Pass. I don't expect that to change either since Steam is the preferred place to play games on PC

So I guess I will start burning through those Rewards points sooner than I thought.

Welcome to the group! How does the Series S feel go hold and position? Is it super small and light?

Won't arrive until Friday. I'll take pictures and post them. I'm sure it will look tiny next to my massive PS5.

Got it early!

Had to wipe the dust off my PS5 after noticing it in the picture. lol

Quite a bit different in size as you would expect, but at least they compliment each other in color. The XSS has some heft to it that you would not expect. It feels like it fills up every bit of that casing with stuff.

So right now I am downloading Forza Horizon 4, Greedfall (for comparison to PS5), and Fable 2 (love that game) all off of game pass.

Damn they look look together. Depending on the title a available I might buy a PS5 to complement my XSX.

In my opinion, having both consoles really gives you the availability of the best games, because we know PlayStation will have some really unique exclusives in the future that XBox won’t or vice versa. However, you’re sitting pretty good already with the Series X, and then add the PS5, you’d be set for the next five years easily. Me personally, the ‘S’ is a hard pass for reasons I already mentioned. Additionally, what I suspect with some people purchasing the ‘S’, is that they just lost patience and couldn’t wait for the X any more, which is understandable.

Finally there are Xbox FS2020 previews on YouTube. I expect reviews to be released in the next 24h.

The game looks as good at advertised in Series X. It’s not as sharp and detailed as PC 4K ultra but visually immersive. On the XSS the game looks softer but damn impressive for a console that cost as much as an Apple Watch and is quarter the size of a gaming PC.

Loading times impress me the most. They are 25-50sec depending on where you spawn e.g coast of Naples vs Central Park. One thing that could be better is the list of supported peripherals. It’s paltry and doesn’t even include Thrustmaster Airbus edition.

I presume that the poor support is the result of peripheral makers wanting customers to buy brand new hardware instead of used from eBay.

So I d/l FS for my xBox X and by and large its quite visually stunning. I do find it a bit slow in loading, and I have my Xbox hard wired into my router and decent broadband.

I didn't spend a lot in the game, but overall its quite impressive. I'll probably plan a small flight from chicago's midway airport to somewhere simply because that was the airport in the first version of FS and it will be fun/nice to do for old times sake :)

Actually, the airport in chicago was Meigs Field, not Midway. You won't find it anymore, it is now a park that apparently has a large amount of drug issues (although I could not find any articles about that aspect, other than some forum posts I have read awhile ago.)

Mayor Daily destroyed the runway in the middle of the night, and the FAA didn't make them restore it, just gave the city a small an inconsequential fine. (I heard a story of one of the Tower Air Traffic Controllers learned about the destruction on the radio as he was driving in for his shift!) It was a major loss to the city.

The mayor claimed that they were protecting the city, the airport was a security threat and terrorists could launch attack against the city from meigs.... (Bull....)

@Macalicious2011

See you in the skies!
I am travelling for work and need to wait until Monday to play FS. Unfortunately connecting remotely with my xbox is currently not working.

I will need to download 100-130GB of data as soon as I get home.

I do find it a bit slow in loading, and I have my Xbox hard wired into my router and decent broadband.
Loading could be slow right now because server load is very high.

One regret of mine is that I should have bought a Thurstmaster Flight Stick for Xbox a couple of weeks ago. It's sold out everywhere :(

Nice! I also have a PS5 and Xbox Series S and I think it's a good option. I REALLY debated on getting the Xbox Series X but I figured having one high end gaming console was enough. Plus more of my friends and exclusive games are on PS5. But Xbox has some great games too and Gamepass is a fantastic service. In a couple of years I might upgrade to the Xbox Series X (maybe catch one on sale during Black Friday or something). But for 800 dollars ( 500 for PS5 and 300 for the Xbox Series S) it's an amazing value with tons of games to play on each.

Honestly, I have the ps5 disc (with ps now and ps+), series X (ultimate game pass) and switch (w/ online sub) and I must saw, I’m on my series x 95% of the time.
I believe because I have my close friends on Xbox and game pass is such a great deal, although Spider-Man (and miles) was a great buy.
My ps subscriptions will be running out in 2 months and I have no plans of renewing it.

What does the X have for you that the PS5 doesn't? I have the X but I was debating between the two, and there's two games that I do miss, Clank and Rachet and Horizon Zero Dawn, both of those two exclusives are some of the best game (or game franchises). For me, while I miss out on some games I do like on the PS5, Xbox has a larger inventory of games, especially now that MS owns Bethesda. I can safely say the Bethesda purchase was what tipped the scales for me.

I did not own a PS4 until June 2020 (pro version) and sold it months later in Sept to pick up the ps5 in Nov. I tried getting into horizon dawn and rachet when it was on ps now, but did not keep me entertained to finish. I did finish days gone and the Spider-Man games. My son uses the ps5 and since most games I play are on both consoles, I use my series X often. And since game pass has them, it’s a big plus. I still have ghost of Tsushima and cyberpunk still in wrapper which are both for the ps5. My son is still under 10 so I don’t let him play it ( more so the wifey ;) ).
But for me; it’s preference and convenience.

Yesterday I returned home from abroad and have finally played flight simulator

GOOD
-Ground breaking graphics and rendering for a gaming console. Only cost a fraction of a gaming PC but with no need to fiddle with settings. It works optimally out of thr box.

-Effective, short and sweet tutorials.

-Playing with a Controller is surprisingly satisfying and engaging if you use good sensetivity settings. I am using a profile created by Huddison on YouTube.

BAD
-The tutorials are too Cessna focused. This results in a skill gap when it comes to landing(slowing down) jumbo jets.

-The market place needs a rethink with more bundles. Some single airports and airplanes represent poor value at £8-16 each!

-Not enough hotas or jokes available at launch.

-Missed opportunity to sell a companion Bluetooth keyboard/programmable button pad for use with a Controller.

OVERALL
Epic game that has, in 24h, taught me how to fly aircrafts. Can't wait to see what my skills will be like in 12 months.
